Cosy place to spend time in the winter

LoveLooe Wales
Review Submitted: November 16, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009
Just a brief email having arrived home a short time ago from the Sand
Dunes. We ABSOLUTELY loved the apartment. It really does do what it
says on the tin, cosy, clean, warm, welcoming, charming and on and
on......

We have walked our proverbial feet off what with walking (and getting
lost) in Kilminorth Woods and walking to Polperro but what a fantastic
feeling we had when we returned to the Sand Dunes. It was so welcoming
after battling against the storms all day and we wanted to do no more
than cook up a simple meal and relax (we did manage to call in for a
quick sample of local brew on the back mind you!!!) I'll be very
surprised if you don't hear from us again as it was right up our
street.

Nice appartment, perfect location

The appartment is ideal for a couple, very comfortable and great location close to sea front, beach, shops and restaurants. The information provided (before our visit) by the owner via the web site was excellent, it included everything that you needed to know and useful guides. We booked late but confirmation was quickly provided and we experienced no problems during our stay. We would recommend the appartment and we felt it was excellent value.

A perfect apartment for a short break...

Review Submitted: October 31, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We spent 3 nights in Sand Martin and can't recommend it highly enough. The apartment is excellently located within the town, a stones throw from the beach and the Quay and literally a few seconds walk from the town centre streets. The apartment is exactly as described in the advert and certainly didn't disappoint. Fully stocked, clean, comfortable, warm, quiet and cosy, we couldn't have asked for much more. Although the apartment is small, it offers everything that one could need during a short stay in Looe.

Having read some of the other reviews mentioning the parking situation as an issue, it is clearly documented in the apartment description and Paul (the helpful apartment owner) stressed this further when we booked so it did not come as a surprise. After dropping our luggage off at the apartment and parking up in the car park over in West Looe it took us less than 5 minutes to walk back to the apartment through the town centre giving us a chance to explore.

Looe itself was the perfect getaway. We went in the off season but the town was still busy enough to show its character. Despite our short stay, we managed to pack in plenty of activities in Looe and across Cornwall. If you get the chance, we would both thoroughly recommend a mackerel fishing trip. There are boats along the quay that you can book places on. The trips last roughly 2 hours and were so cheap (£10 each). We caught dozens of fish and got to keep our catch! Be sure to visit Sarah's Pasty Shop for some delicious handmade pasties. We managed to sample a few from our time in Cornwall but these were by far the best! We also managed to comfortably fit a trip to both The Eden Project and Padstow in one day.

All in all, a smashing little apartment.

David and Katy.

Sweet little cottage in great location

We stayed at Sand martin in October and we loved it. The flat is lovely, very homely and nicely decorated. It is literally in the centre of Looe and only around the corner (30sec walk!) From the sea and pier. There are lovely shops in Looe and the coastal walk to the next village ( Polperro) was just beautiful. Lots of little boutiques and great places to eat. Great holiday! Would def go again. Thank you very much to the owner of the cottage, you have done a great job with it and we had an excellent holiday.

Our stay atSand Martin, Looe

We had a great stay at this apartment in Looe. The apartment was small but well equipped with a separate bedroom and then living room / kitchen. Plus there was a great shower! We didn't have any problems with the apartment whatsoever and the location was great. The only slight niggle was having to pay for a week's parking in pound coins and them getting stuck in the meter.

Looe was a good base for our Cornish holiday, there was plenty to do nearby and in Looe itself. There were some lovely places to eat which suited our budget - would especially recommend The Smuggler's Cott for great food. The walk to Polperro is well worth doing as well as a trip to Fowey. A bit further a field we had a lovely day in Padstow (about 1 hour away)

a perfect place to explore Cornwall

Review Submitted: August 5, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a very good time at Sand Martin. The apartment was quiet ok, the kitchen offers nearly everything which might be needed (fantastic: a stove with 4 plates + oven! The only thing which could be improved is a greater pot for cooking noodles). The location is quiet, shops, restaurants and pubs close by.

We did a couple of sightseeing tours: Polperro, the Eden Project, Fowey, Mevagissey, St. Ives, Marazion, Falmouth, St Maves Trelissick Garden, Boscastle etc. -We also went to Plymouth by bus which took an hour - very good for a spot of retail therapy.
All in all we had a very nice stay and would highly recommend the apartment and location.

St. Martin is a cosy place to be. We had a really good week at Looe. The appartement is clean and calm. Some seagulls at the morning, nothing else who was disturbing.
Cornwall we like at the first sight. It's lovely there, everywhere. And for other Germans: It's not so expensive than expected.

Chill out time

Review Submitted: July 15, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a very enjoyable relaxing time at Sand Martin. The apartment was very cosy and compact but everything you need is provided (even coffee and teabags in cupboard). Nice quiet location (apart from a few seagulls) by the harbour, shops and pubs close by.
Car park about 10 minute walk away - £24 for 7 day ticket, meter only takes £1 coins but change available from amusement arcade nearby,
We did a couple of good walks - one through the woods alongside the river - 3 miles (easy, medium and long routes). Coastal path walk to Polperro - 5 miles with cafe stop at 3 miles. We got the bus back which did get busy and no standing is allowed, a few had to wait an hour for the next bus.
We also went to Plymouth by bus which took an hour - very good for a spot of retail therapy.
All in all we had a very nice stay and would highly recommend the apartment and location.

We had a fantastic week in the Sand Dune in Looe. It has an ideal location just a minutes walk from the beach and has everything that you could wish for. The Sand Dune is a perfect size for using as a base to explore Cornwall.

We ate out every night in Looe and there is a wide variety to suit all tastes and budgets. We would particularly recommend the Old Sail Loft for a high quality evening meal.

We found Paul very helpful and made booking the holiday very easy. We would highly recommend.

we've spent a long weekend in the sand martin apartment and we could'nt rate the place any higher. as soon as we walked in the relaxing atmosphere hit us straight away and we instantly felt we've been on holiday for a week already. the owners included a lot of nice little touches to the place like incense sticks and a good selection of books which gave it a nice homely feel. the location is absolutely perfect and looe itself is the most stunning little place. not far from looe is the little village of polperro which is an absolute must see. we sincerely hope that everybody who chooses to stay at the sand martin apartment has the same beautyful break than we experienced and we will definitely be back.
