Our 'home from home' in Florida.
Review Submitted: February 6, 2009
Date of Stay: December 2008
In December we spent the month traveling from Mexico to Havana to Florida where we enjoyed Xmas at "Whispering Palms'. The 1st time we had been away from home and our family in 39 years. It was just great and like being at home without the kids.
The house is spacious, spotless and fully equipped with all that we needed for our stay. The decor matches the climate and is 'sunny', fresh and bright. The pool and hot tub were at a temperature that suits our age group and were used to the full. We did enjoy the Bar-B-Q which was an excuse to stay in at night although we found several very good eating places down the Pine Island Road, and the Irish Bar in the nearby shopping mall for a quick lunch. The owners give you a very full folder of information and places to visit along with maps etc and easy to follow instructions for the running of the house, which one assumes are from their own experiences. There is a modern 'picture album' for guests to leave or post a photograph of their visit, most unusual but a reminder for those returning of past pleasures.
You can easily make the drive to the beaches of Fort Myer, Sanibel and Captiva along with many other places of interest. My one regret was that I was talked into leaving my golf clubs at home, because of our itinerary, not next time, as I looked into the club which is right on the doorstep and was very impressed.
The next visit we have I have promised that I will also give the Kayaks and Bicycles a go, maybe not that far but I certainly will give them a try. Thank you Marny and Richard for sharing your wonderful home with us, we truly enjoy our stay and will be back, the sooner the better. Final note, watch out for the Police at night if driving back to the house having had a drink with your meal. they are very vigilant and sticky about STOP signs. This apart we will be recommending 'Whispering Palms' to our friends.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for a fantastic review - I think I should mention golf on our site as there are so many courses in Cape Coral. It is always lovely to hear that people enjoyed their visit.
Marny
