Sunny House, one of last best place at Madeira!!!

Sunny House, keeps the promises from the description in all directions. The owners are very friendly and courteous. The house is in very clean condition, adequarte furnished/equipped and the location excellent. In the middle of the bananas is the right wording. You can harvest them right from the front door (but they are green, better to buy some in the next supermarket). The surroundig is spectacular. 300 to 400m cliffs in the backyard and always a free oceanview from the main terrace. It is a very quiet and rural place in a little village.
Do not expect cub's, discotheques or other signs of mass tourism. This place is recommended to nature lovers and people, who need pure real relaxation with or without children. The only minior point - the next real supermarket is 15 min by car, but for small shopping (food) a local store and a bakery is availiable.

It’s the ‘feel-good’ factor from spectacular nature all around you and the peace of mind it brings. As Dirk says the accommodation is particularly great for couples, small groups and families with or without children who want peace and relaxation but, don’t want to be far away from facilities such as a large supermarket.

Fantastic stay at Sunny House

We spent two fantastic weeks at Sunny House. The house is beautiful and has peaceful surroundings. It was also very clean and had everything we needed during our stay. We loved sitting on the terrace watching the sunset and listening to the waves. Paul do Mar is a real Madeiran village with nice people. It's advantange is beeing away from the tourist areas, yet it has enough services, e.g. a mini-market and a couple of bars. The dinner we ate at Paul do Mar Hotel was tasty and romantic with an outdoor table and ocean view.
We explored the beautiful surroundings by car and hiking. Afterwards the Calheta beach, only 10 minutes drive away, was very welcoming.
The owners, Iva and Paul, are very friendly and service-minded. We would really recommend Sunny House for every nature lover.

Great holiday at Paul do Mar

We really enjoyed our holiday at "Sunny House" - there was nothing missing to feel comfortable! All the equipment was almost new and well-kept. Our favorite place was the terrace upstairs, most suitable for having a meal or for just feeling fine. From there, you have a great view over the sea, you can watch the waves and the sunset with a glass of portuguese wine in your hand and all the banana plants around you. There is also a grill for barbecuing, e.g. for your own selfmade "Espetada". The owners, Paul and Iva, offer great services: Towels and sheets are changed every week and even the charcoal is provided, just to mention a few.
We recommend the cafe next to the small supermarket where you can buy very delicious cakes for the coffee break.
In the evening, if there is suddenly a strange noise, don't worry about it, but feel lucky: most probably it was the call of a seabird called Cory's Shearwater.If you love nature, this is the right place for your holiday!

Wonderful stay in Paul do Mar

We found Sunny House to be a pleasant, comfortable and very clean house.It was well equipped and it contained everything needed for an enjoyable stay. The area is peaceful, quiet and relaxing. The two balconies of the house are idyllic for eating outside and watching the impressive sunsets with a glass of local wine.
The house is well placed for touring western Madeira by car and also there are many walks in the surrounding area.
The owners Paul and Iva were friendly and very welcoming and were on hand at all times should you require anything.
We have no hesitation in recommending Sunny House for a holiday and hope to return.

Um local acolhedor, com todas as condições para uma família com filhos como a nossa e que gosta de um jantar com vista para a montanha e para o mar, acompanhado do cantar das cagarras e do cheiro quente e doce das bananeiras, figueiras, abacateiros que envolvem a casa.
Um local para quem não gosta muito do buliço e da agitação dos grandes centros turísticos.
Um refúgio para descansar.
Das nossas férias recordaremos as paisagens espectaculares, os passeios pedestres intensos, os golfinhos, mas também, termos podido sair e regressar ao fim do dia e contemplar o sol que desce sobre o oceano a abraçar-nos no nosso abraço, naquele terraço.

Wonderful Holidays in Sunny House

We spent wonderful holidays in Sunny House at Paul do Mar. There is a best-equipped kitchen with all you can wish (refrigerator, freezer, micro wave, water heater, washing mashine, modern stove) which is absolutely clean like also the big white bathroom with many towels that are exchanged regularly. The rest of the cosy house is comfortably and well furnished, TV and DVD-Player, all is new and fine. Two terraces invite to have dinner outside in the long warm evenings with 4 chairs and deck chairs. It lies between a banana garden and is absolutely quiet. The owners are very friendly and helpful in every situation.. The only thing we missed is that there is no internet access in the house. We can only warmly recommend Sunny House! It`s the warm south-west coast, and there are not so many tourists like in the south-east coast.

Owner's Response: The Review title emphasises the 'feel-good factor' of Paul do Mar, a quiet, relaxing fishing village not far from the hustle and bustle of the island's towns. Paul do Mar is a base to discover people and countryside. There are 2 mountain walks from the village which link to levada walks (walks through the island's UNESCO protected forests along man-made irrigation channels).
Also, this review emphasises the high standard of customer service including accurate/useful information and flexibility "friendly house owner with helping hands if it is desired" ; and the cleanliness and a high level of maintenance of the property.

We spent beautiful holidays in this house in the middle of banana fields.
The house is very large, has three floors and and a penthouse terrace, from which you can enjoy beautiful sunsets.
The property is styleful furnished, very clean and well-maintained.
The house is well equipped, we missed nothing.
Paul do Mar is a peaceful village. It is a good base for levada walking around Prazeres & Paul da Serra.
We felt very well in Paul do Mar.
