Casa Rosina - The perfect retreat.

Review Submitted: October 24, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Our second time at Casa Rosina and definately not our last. Everything is exactly as it should be.

The accomodation is spotless. Everything that you need is there for you to enjoy. Swimming pool, Sun terrace, barbeque, sunloungers, TV + DVD and a fantastic selection of DVD's for you to watch, films suitable for all ages. Thats if you can find the time which I highly doubt you will.
Did I forget to mention the Hot tub? What an amazing experience laying in the tub at midnight watching the stars and drinking bubbly. I can highly recommend it. The kitchen area has everything that you need as well. Again everything is spotlessly clean.

The well maintained gardens are begining to flourish thanks to the time and care spent by the owners Steve and Gail, and the views from Casa Rosina are simply stunning.

There is so much to do in the area around the villa and all within an hours drive. Mondomar animal park in Benidorm is fantastic value and a greta day out for all ages. The Dolphin show is a must. Take a packed lunch as the food and drink can be a little pricey.
Oceanografico Marine Park (maybe not spelt correctly) in Valencia is a definate NO GO. Over priced over hyped. Your bags are scanned on entry to make sure you have no food or drink so you can be charged sky high prices for refreshments. The park is poorly laid out, difficult to find and not a patch on the much cheaper and far more enjoyable and far easier to find Mundomar who even provide a picnic area. Car parking at the underground car park at Oceanografico cost 9.70 Euro for 4 hours. Parking is free at Mundomar.

Del mar restaurant in Moraira is a must too, not the cheapest place to eat but a real fine dinning experience. Denia is also well worth a visit.

Back to Casa Rosina which has it all, the hosts Steve and Gail bend over backwards to make sure that everything is perfect. They are a mine of information which they are more than happy to share to make sure your holiday is perfect in everyway. They can recommend places to visit places to eat and things to do.

I am off now to book for May next year, This time I will be taking my grandaughter(4), she will love it at Casa Rosina.

Finally if I could be very bold and make just one suggestion to the hosts Steve and Gail, Please do not change a thing, perfection can not be improved.

A big thank you from Mark & Amanda.

Owner's Response: Thanks to you both for the great review. We do not plan to change anything, but will make small improvements as we go and are always open to suggestions on how to improve your stay at "Casa Rosina".

The Hot Tub is everyone's favourite, a real treat anytime of the year!

We have been so pleased with our garden, which has been a terrific amount of hard work for us over the past 2 years. The lawn is shaping up, after dying on us during this long, hot summer which seems to be showing little sign of ending! Some heavy rain in September, much needed, rescued the lawn and the odd showers at night and the odd cooler day have helped - and I do mean the odd cooler day! Today, another 24C, sun and wispy clouds. Our son, his pal and Steve have been in the pool this week (a bit chilly for me though!). We still haven't put the central heating on in the house and have all of the windows open. It is still t-shirts and shorts weather!

We have more plans for the garden, by the pool pump house, but need lots of time and the ground to soften before we can make a start - so, really, during the winter we are hoping to make a start on that last corner of our paradise!!

Glad you enjoyed Mundomar. We love it! There are nearly always money-saving vouchers in the apartment for our guests to use at Mundomar and at many of the other local tourist attractions.

We have had mixed reviews from our guests about Oceanographic, which we have yet to visit. We have also been unable to find any money-saving vouchers for this attraction. Can anyone help us here? The same applies for the Biopark in Valencia (new, state of the art zoo), just amazing animal encounters, but pricey and no picnics allowed. We love it, though!

Parking in Valencia can be expensive. There is a good, regular and reliable train service from Alfafar, with free parking and it's only 1 stop to Valencia Nord (right next to the bull ring).

Here's to next May, Mark and Amanda. It pays to book early, because if last year is anything to go by, we will, by the end of February, be 90% booked for the season, May to October inclusive.

See you in 2010!

We can thoroughly recommend Gail and Steve's apartment in their villa. It is spotlessly clean with all you need for a relaxing holiday. Gail and Steve are superb hosts - helping with supermarkets and restaurants etc. The views from the villa are breathtaking!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Val and Peter, for the review, we are so pleased you had a relaxing time. It is, after all, what holidays are about! We are sorry our photos of the views do not do it justice. With the cooler weather of November, the mountains beyond Valencia have been even more sharply in focus and the sea so, so blue.
Glad you both enjoyed your stay.

Owner's Response: We are so pleased you had a good two weeks - without us upstairs for most of it, owing to our own annual holiday!

Yes, we do have the best neighbour in the World, who cared for the pool in our absence and is a mine of useful information about the area, restaurnats etc.
As you said to us upon your arrival - ' "Casa Rosina" does just what it says on the tin' ! Just great!

Hope to see more of you should you decide to visit us again.

We arrived in Valencia quite late and were taken to Goldcar rental by minibus. Picked the car up (all nice and easy). We then set off to Gail and Steves on a rainy night. We missed the road to Alicante but it is all straight forward once your on the road it does merge into toll road AP7, so make sure you have some money ready. Once you come off the main roads you head up to the Villa on a mountain road which I would advise anyone to take care. It was quite late now when we arrived at Gail and Steves but they were there to welcome us and give us a guide around the appartment. All lovely and clean.Even though it was dark, it looked a lovely place to stay with the pool and hot tub. Everything was there that you could possible need in the appartment. We got up the next morning and was able to take in the breathtaking views from the terracing. Views of mountains, sea and lime groves.
I won't list what we did everyday as we were looking for a relaxing holiday but there is plenty for everyone or if you fancied just chilling at the villa by the pool then you could. I must mention that the big shopping mall just off the junction you come off for Gail and Steves was a must for us as it had a big supermarket (Eroski) plus lots of other shops and a cinema, so nice and cool while you have a look around. There are lots of lovely beaches close to the villa, too many to list really but Gail and Steve will be able to help you. There are lots of restaurants in Pego, Denia etc which serve a whole host of food from Tapas to burgers. We popped down to Benidorm on the AP7 as it was only a few junctions away and had some great attractions for the family,if you felt energeric or fancied a nice day seeing things. The ones we went to were Aqualandia (waterpark) and Terra Natura (wildlife park) both places had other attractions next door which were worth seeing plus other places could have been found close by. Both were very enjoyable and good value if you use the vouchers that you can find in the villa. We normally ended back at the Villa late afternoon to enjoy the pool and the hot tub plus a cool drink. We also made use of the barbeque while we were there. Various towns had market days and we found Denia market was enjoyable and you will definitely find something to buy. A must to do is eat local food as it was quite delicious ie Paella (a personal fav). Just to finish, weather was lovely and not too busy anywhere. Would love to visit again if had more time. Many thanks R & Dx

Owner's Response: So pleased that you had a lovely Honeymoon at "Casa Rosina".

Many thanks for your great review. As you say, there is much to do and the local food is reasonaby priced, compared to the major resorts, and delicious!

We try to be informative about places to visit, good restaurants and beaches etc and we are always on the look out for money saving vouchers for top attractions locally.

Hope to see you both again soon, maybe with the family.

Perfect for a relaxing holiday

We spent a week at Casa Rosina at the beginning of August. The apartment was scrupilously clean and very comfortable. The views were amazing (photographs can't do them justice) and added to the relaxing atmosphere.
Our two boys loved the pool and the youngest learned to swim after a couple of days which was great.
We spent a week lazing by the pool and doing very little else, but there is plenty to do and see in the area if you want a more active holiday.
Gail and Steve were the perfect hosts and helped us out on a few occasions- offering advice and directions etc.
The acid test of the holiday was that we left our breakage deposit with Gail to act as a booking deposit for the same week next year. We're looking forward to our return all ready!

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review.

It was a pleasure to see your 2 boys swimming, jumping in the pool, starting to dive and being so "at home" and comfortable in the water. Oh, the enthusiasm and fearlessness of the young - just magic!

We are looking forward to welcoming you again next year to "Casa Rosina"

Very relaxing location

Review Submitted: August 9, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
Great location in the mountains. Although Alicante is the nearest airport this place is sufficiently far away from mainstream holiday makers. Might try going via Valencia airport next time which is only a little further away. It's hot in the sun and cool in the shade and inside the villa was also nice and cool. Swimming pool was just right and the views are spectacular. Layout was good with all the bits we needed - dishwasher, washing machine, microwave etc. There was a TV and DVD player but with so much to do elsewhere these did not get used. If cleanliness is Godly this place is heaven - not a spot to be found - very well maintained. The owners - Steve and Gail - were very welcoming and ensured we had everything we needed including a small hamper of food and drink. We would highly recommend this villa to anyone seeking a sunshine holiday in Spain. We went in April and it was nice and hot - got a good tan. We hired a car and travelled all over the place - Valencia, Denia, Rafol, Alicante, Benidorm, Benidoleig, Val D'Ebo, Calpe & Pego. Our hire car was a Goldcar Mercedes A Class and was booked through Carjet - cheaper than in the UK with full insurance and no excess. It was my first time driving abroad and it was easier than in the UK. The locals knew we were tourists in a hire car and were very accommodating to my sometimes awful driving. I'd recommend a Tomtom Sat-Nav so you don't get lost - we didn't. The mountain/cave walks in Caple were good as was the market shopping in Denia. The best bit though was the Oceanagrafic in Valencia.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the review. Always good to hear from our visitors.

We have now bought a Tom-Tom One XL Europe Satnav unit and have started putting into the favourites menu locations of nearby attractions, outdoor markets, recommended restaurants etc.
We hope to make this available to our guests, subject to a security deposit and a small fee. We have checked the mapping and the new motorway off-ramp is all present and correct.

More info about this when you enquire about booking your holiday.

Valencia and Alicante airport are both 100km from "Casa Rosina", the easier and more straight forward of the two journeys is from Alicante, but flights to Valencia can be cheaper, so it is worth shopping around.

Valencia is a delightful city, where old and new live side by side. The Oceanagraphic is, we understand, Europe's largest aquarium, with a 3D cinema and a natural history museum attached. These 3 attractions can be visited separatelt, or on a combined ticket. The building is vast and visible from the skies, when flying past Valencia in to Alicante, 200km away!

The historic Old Town boasts many beautiful buildings and the cathedral holds the Second Holy Grail. It is also possible to hire a horse and cart for a tour of the historic areas in Valencia.

In August, as in most of this region, there are many colourful fiestas - the tomato throwing fiesta in Valencia being messy, but fun!

The views from the property are stunning and very hard to leave behind when it comes to going home especially the sunsetts i was lucky enough to be the first person to rent the appartment when it was first up for rent and this was a returning visit to bring my family. The location is about 5km from pego which has a delightfull square, in which bar daniel is suituated, this was a favourite haunt of mine and daniel makes a mean up of coffee. just accross the square from bar daniel is a church, when looking from the outside its nothing spectacular, but stepping inside is like being transported to Italy where all the glorious paintings/murials from the masters are displayed. This small community church has such paintings covering the ceilings and walls and its a must see.... Gail and Steve are fabulous and could not do enough for us, and the welcome basket we recieved was of great surprise and comfort seeing as we arrived very late at night and as children are mine were starving.. so they found some lovely goodies in the basket. When we got up in the morning the pool was used immediatly my son who would'nt go in at first was swimming by the end of the week. The appartment was very clean on both my visits in fact the first time i went it was just freshly painted and the second time it had also been painted i did wonder if anyone had been in at all. the garden, has come on a lot since my first visit i was surprised to find a hot tub and a lawn its gorgeous. I would have no and have had no trouble in recomending this property to people and im looking forward to my fourth visit in July 2010 with all my family this time and yes my husband in tow, he has always been working so has missed out and had to be content with the many pictures I have brought back. Gail and Steve kindly wrote directions for me when i wanted to try Paella and they sent me to Javea it was the best. I fell in love with Calpe beach on one of my trips and also was convinced by Steve that i needed to climb the rock of Penon and that was too truly amazing in fact everything was amazing and i kept saying it so much that is how they remember me, im the its amazing girl. When i take my family back next year we plan to do the theme parks like Terra Mitica and Aqualandia. Good luck Gail and Steve and i can't wait to see you again xxx and to everyone else, enjoy, you'll love it. xx

Owner's Response: What a lovely review. Amazing, in fact!!!

Seriously, "Casa Rosina" is truly in great location to enjoy some "real Spain", as well as visit the busy Benidorm ( which never sleeps!) where the theme parks mentioned in this review are situated.

Calpe is a beautiful drive through the Jalon Valley to the coast, the Jalon being famous for it's Almonds and Bodegas - the latter are only to happy to let you sample their local wines!

Our welcome basket does seem to go down well with the families and we enjoy re-filling it for every new visitor.

I am afraid the lawn has suffered in the drought - only 2 days rain since mid May - but we will be treating it this Autumn and hope for luscious green again for the next season. Yes, it was looking good by May!

See you all soon!

The description on the website is honest and accurate. The accommodation was spotlessly clean and very well maintained. The owners provided excellent customer service and in our view went far beyond what would be expected. They have a deep love of people and showed great care and discretion. We would most definitely recommend this holiday apartment to our friends knowing that they would be thoroughly looked after and it offers a great value for money. The swimming pool is very well maintained and is a decent size for family fun or plain lane swimming; the steps are sensibly placed as not to impede swimming. A thoroughly enjoyable stay and the views from this mountainside apartment are spectacular. Pego is a lovely historic town which is a 10 minute drive from the home and has nice coffee bars and restaurants and a very reasonably priced Chinese Restaurant, believe me you will not be hungry afterward! Those of you who like to look at architecture this town has been much preserved and inside the local Church paintings, Muriel’s and windows are outstanding.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the great review.

We love our local town, too!

Pego is a very Spanish town, which offers better value for money for food and gifts than the tourist hot spots. The bars and restaurants are frequented by locals, so the food has to be good!

Tapas in Pego is very good and very reasonably priced, as is the Valencian dish of Paella. On the route to Pego from "Casa Rosina", it is possible to see the lush green of the rice fields, where the local rice for this very local dish is grown. Paella is, we believe, a dish of this region and is best eaten here, than in other parts of Spain, where it has been "adopted" as the national dish.

The Moorish influence is evident, along with some stunning wrought iron and plaster work on the traditional town houses.

If you would like a real feel of Spain and to experience Spain for the Spanish, then Pego cannot be beaten.

It was a real pleasure to have you all to stay at "Casa Rosina" and we are glad you had an enjoyable and relaxing break.

We had a wonderful time in Casa Rosina !
The villa was super! We loved the jacuzzi !
It's not expensive!

We saw very nice fireworks at Javea and went also to Denia, Ondara, Valencia, Benidorm, ...
It's very nice there!

I saw every night the sunset with my boyfriend and it's really fantastic !
I will never forget this vacation! When I see the photos, I am a bit homesick ...

Casa Rosina is A MUST !!!

Owner's Response: We look forward to welcoming you all back, same time next year.
So pleased you all enjoyed yourselves and you provided us with some fun moments, too!

For those who can get up ealry, the sunrises are good, too!

Summer time means Fiesta time in Spain, so there are great firework displays up and down the coast, also the celebrations for the Moors and Christians, marking the varied history of this region in spectacular style, with costumes to rival those found in theatres in London.

See you all soon!

Recently returned from a quiet and relaxing holiday staying in this fabulous apartment with spectaculor panoramic views of both mountains and sea. We were met on arrival by two excellent hosts Steve and Gail who made us welcome from the start. The apartment was spotlessly clean, well maintained and well equiped. The swimming pool was solar heated with an average tempreture of 32 degree`s, this being good late evening before relaxing in the hot tub with a cold beer or glass of wine. We would definitely recommend this apartment to family or friends and anyone looking for a quiet and relaxing break. We would certainly return to this apartment some time in the future.

Owner's Response: Thank you both for the great review and we hope we will see you , maybe with your family, again.

Always good to know that our hard work and efforts are appreciated.

At this time, we are now taking bookings for 2010, and still some weeks available, from 9th October 2009, for some late winter sun and Sangria in the hot tub.

Thanks, again, Gail and Steve.
