Villa Bougambilla

Bob250 Stockport, UK
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This was my first holiday in the Canaries and also in a villa with a pool. We chose not to hire a car and did in fact manage fine without one. We took 3 teenagers with us aged 15 to 18. The journey to the villa from the airport was easy and cost about 45 euros. We were greeted very enthusiastically by Pascall and then had the only bad experience of the whole holiday which was a 2 and a half hour wait for our villa to be cleaned. Once we were in the villa everyone was happy with the facilities and the standard of cleaning etc. There was a small supermarket within a five minute walk of the complex, but you really needed a taxi to get into town. Only 4 or 5 euros thogh so not expensive. The restaurant on site was very good but very quiet when we went. We had a very relaxing holiday and enjoyed the fantastic weather.

Excellent villa and a bargain too!!

Review Submitted: August 19, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We stayed for a fortnight in June and it was a fabulous villa. I was suprised at a previous comment because we had broadband connected all the time (although it was much faster when you sat on the roof terrace) and we had a kettle. I agree that there could have been some instructions as we couldn't find the washing machine at first but it didn't take long to find (on the roof terrace) and on our first morning one of the staff came to show us everything anyway. All staff on site were friendly and helpful but we did not need them to show us things as a bit of exploring and common sense had us straight!! As for pool and jacuzzi not being heated - it was between 34 and 39 degrees the weeks we were there - the jacuzzi was body temp which was perfect to cool down and the pool, although cold, was what you would expect anywhere abroad in the height of Summer.

The villas on this complex are brand new so there may be problems with broadband, electrics etc but these are just minor problems - this is not England after all!! The villas are beautifully decorated, peaceful and have pool, jacuzzi, sunbeds, garages, 3 en suite showers, outdoor showers, TV and DVD, Ipod and radio system piped throughout. All this for a bargain price - I don't know what people expect for their money but we were thrilled. Other villas on the same complex are advertised for over £1000 per week and they are exactly the same.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay; the villa made our holiday as it was so lovely. It was about 45 mins walk into the main town, 20 mins to nearby bars and cafes or a 5 min drive in the hire car, so I would recommend this villa to anyone wanting a peaceful holiday, away from the louder areas. Would recommend to adults or families with teenagers only as the 2 bedrooms are not connected to the main villa and master suite, which would be difficult if you have young children.

All in all, the villa was excellent and a bargain price to boot!!!

We stayed in the Villa in early June 09, whilst overall it was very nice we were disappointed with a couple of items, we were told we could not heat the pool as it was now summer and the jacuzzi was not as warm as we would have liked for similar reasons. We were also very disappointed that although the advert stated there was broadband, it was only available in the bar not the villa, and as this was one of our main reasons for choosing this villa, it slightly spoiled the holiday. However generally it was good, clean and well prepared although maybe a kettle and some other kitchen items would help. There was also no information inside the villa to tell us how things worked etc. which caused some questions particularly regarding the pool, jacuzzi and power switches. Staff at the complex were polite and helpful when they could be. Overall we would recommend it but with a caution to check if everything you want for your holiday is available.
Families should be careful as the 2nd and 3rd bedrooms can only be accessed from the pool/patio area and this was awkward for people wanting to get into the main villa at night without leaving external doors unlocked.

Beautiful Villa & a Beautiful Island!

Brenda & her buddies Edinburgh, UK
Review Submitted: May 10, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We had a great week at this villa in late April . The villa really is beautiful as in the photos with great outdoor living space; there were 5 of us (all adults) but we could spread out comfortably amongst the hot tub area which has seating around it, the roof top dining/ bbq, upstairs sunbathing double bed and the pool.

Corrolejo itself has some great restaurants by the waterfront (try El Sombrero’s fantastic crème brullee) , lovely to sit and watch the world go by. The villa is a bit further out so we tended to bbq in at night but taxis are only 4 Euros into town and staff at security or the bar are happy to call one for you. The staff were extremely helpful solving any problems but also giving us advice on where to go and what to do.

Outwith Corrolejo would recommend a visit to Betancuria (historic and pretty), El Cotilla (stunning harbour) and try out a trip on Cool Running’s trikes.

We hope to come back to the island sometime and would certainly come back to this villa -thank you!!

A Place to Chill Out!

Review Submitted: March 24, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We have just spent 2 weeks in this great villa! The complex itself is lovely, very well maintained gardens, friendly staff & a very good restaurant (lovely food & not too expensive). It is a little out of the way, about a 40 minute walk to town or across the national park to a fantastic beach, but the taxis are very good and only cost 3-4 euros to to the centre of town or 4 to 5 to the beach. If you just what to relax and chill out this is perfect. The villa has everything you need and is beautifully decorated. The pool was warm & the roof top jacuzzi was great.(although the roof floor did get quite slippery when wet). The electrics did trip out a few times but it was only a case of switching it back on in the fuse box. There are a few restaurants that do takeaway delivery service which we used a couple of times & the food was excellent. I would recommend this property to families with older children & groups of friends who don't mind walking ,or don't mind driving (the roads are great!)

Lovely Villa!

Review Submitted: March 12, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
The villa was so lovely and we had such a wonderful time there. WE did not want to leave! If we had any problems then the residential manager was very quick to assist and he was very helpful and friendly.

The weather was not brilliant during our stay, however the villa made up for it. I would reccommend it to anyone! We are hoping to return at some time!!

The villa is exactly as the picture shows, really luxurious and comfortable.

Be careful though when walking round pool area and the terrace as it can be slippery, other than this, cannot think of any other faults other than the weather was not what we had hoped!!

Lovely place to stay and will be going back!

Thank you!

We recently spent 2 weeks in january at this complex. It is very nicely laid out and the shirpool shower in master bedroom was lovely. The upside accomodation was very nice and comfortable lovely hot water and lovely beds etc. very clean and modern, in a good quiet location. The staff are very friendly and very helpful clean lovely place.Downsides yes few electric problems stairs upstairs externally be very careful husband had nasty fall wear gripped outside shoes pool not heated properly but was moved to another villa and was fine better for adults and older children also good 45 min walk to town and beach very deceptive sand dunes look ten min actually nearly two hour walk.

Taxis into town cost approx 3.60- 3.80 euros slightly more on Sundays make sure you are on rate one, only had one bad taxi driver put us on rate 3 and charged almost double.

Corrolejo itself we found some really lovely places to eat and drink and some not too good, would not recommend chablis bar for food extremely bad ploughmans and charged 8.50 euros. Halfway to town try out Tiffanys absolutle lovely food all home cooked and very reasonable prices. Sunday lunch is a must in fifth avenue in corrolejo 2 course 10.00 euros which is ample 3 course 12.50 up to chef standards lovely place.

Best local lager in iced glasses good prices go to sports bar. Lovely litle side restaurant that is famous for suckling pig forgotten name very good home cooked food cheap.

Flicks club opens at 7.30 get cheap jd or vodka etc for 2.40 dont forget they triples cheap until 10.30 lovely staff. Do be careful though son had wallet stolen here although got back with all cards in, but money was taken, would add this was by english people but in area you may come across shady characters offering stuff too teenagers. Thank you staff for helping get wallet back.

Everything else was very good in town no trouble go to square at night, paddys and waterfront pubs. Also try out underground and 2 pubs either side cheap and good music.

Wasnt right time of year for attractions, but weather not too bad bit of rain and wind but some lovely days like british summer and all got lovely tan.

Would definitely recommend this resort but if you dont like walking best to hire a car. Hope this is helful to you.

P.s if you have room take teabags etc with you not cheap over there almost 6 euros 80 tea bags normal bread nearly 4 euros shopping expensive.

Beautiful - but a few teething problems

Kat & James Reading
Review Submitted: December 12, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
The photos for this villa looked amazing and i'm pleased to say that we were not disappointed to find that the villa looked exactly like the pictures - absolutely stunning.

We checked in and were shown round the villa and how everything worked and then left to our own devices - just what we needed.

However amazing this property is - it is also very new and as such had a few teething problems.
the jacuzzi wasn't heating up upon arrival on Saturday night - much to our disappointment, but this was sorted out 1st thing on Monday and worked for the rest of the week, which was great.

Also there were a few problems with the electrics in the villa but the team at the resort where on call and came out to look at these as soon as we asked them too.

Although each villa is joined to the next, you have total privacy in your back garden due to the layout and high walls, and provide a complete sun trap.

Its currently in a very quiet location, as the complex hasn't been fully completed or sold out, so if you are looking for a active holiday - this may not be the place for you.
It is in an ideal location for getting out and about in your car and finding the beautiful beaches hidden away.

You need a car to be able to get here and get around as it is about 5/10 mins drive out of the centre of Correlejo - but an ideal distance.

The villa and resort was beautiful and we couldnt have asked for more, regardless of the few issues we experienced, and we're already thinking about when we can go back.

Due to the layout this would not be suitable for anyone with young children, but is roomy enough for breaks for older families or groups, or just for a romatic getaway.
