A beautifully restored historic house, 2 minutes walk from the main square, yet a tranquill refuge. Clean and comfortable accomodation.
A friendly and helpful owner. Two bicycles included for exploring Brugge and beyond. Definely stay here again.

Comfortable and Convenient

A lovely home in a lovely city. Literally 3 minutes from the main square with its bars and chocolate shops!
Good internet connection provided via mobile broadband usb dongle.
Very quiet despite its' central location with a lovely small courtyard garden.
Very interesting building on 3 levels with lots of steps but 2 active 60+ year olds were more than happy here!
Wonderful view from the top bedroom of the red roofs clustered under the church.
Thoroughly recommended we will be returning.

Lovely family break

c b-d Harrow, England
Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We recently spent a lovely four days at this property.
The property was just as the pictures and details described, and was extremeley central.
The property was clean and well looked after and provided all ammenities required for a short break. The bathrooms were lovely.
The owner Hilde was friendly and helpful.
We have been to Bruges on a number of occasions but have always previously stayed in hotels. We decided to rent a house this time due to visiting with my parents and young daugther.
We would definately recommend this property, although we unfortunately will not be returning ourselves as our daughter has almost mastered walking and the property would not be suitable for a little one toddling about. The stairs are somewhat steep and the first flight is above original stone floors.
The only down point of the holiday was the midges. We have only ever visited Bruges in the Autumn or winter previously so were not expecting to be bitten so much. I would recommend if you are visiting in the summer to take plenty of insect repellent. (The property did provide plug in insect killers but we did not use these because of the little one).
Overall this was a wonderful character house which we would definately recommend to anyone who does not have small children or mobility issues.

A Sanctuary in Brugge

Review Submitted: June 3, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
A hidden island, down a small street from the main square. You pass through an archway to the green door that opens to a private refuge from the bustling crowds. The tranquil courtyard is wonderful for breakfasts and quiet dinners. The beds are extremely comfortable and the luxuriously appointed bathrooms a delightful place to relax after a busy day of gorgeous sights or relaxing cycles through the countryside. Hilde and Dirk are perfect hosts, friendly and helpful, and available if needed. Please treat this special place with care as we intend to return.

Wonderful Stay

lhc Vestavia Hills, Alabama, USA
Review Submitted: May 29, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
Our 18 day holiday included stays in four rental apartments in four different cities. This apratment was by far the best. The kitchen and baths were modern while the home had all the charm of the historical old house that it is. The garden is delightful and the location is but 2 to 3 blocks from the heart of the center of the old city. The apratment would probably be a challenge for a family with small children because the bedrooms are up one or twp flights of relatively steep stairs. The owners were most helpful in suggesting restaurants, grocery stores, etc. The only thing that would improve the unit is a washer/dryer - although the owners indicated that one would be added in the not too distant future.

Great location

Twyla Camas, Washington, USA
Review Submitted: April 24, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We spent five very pleasant days at this property on our way from Amsterdam to Paris. Loved it. The house was very well kept, and was exactly as presented in the advertising for the property. There are steep stairs, so be able to go up stairs to bedrooms. The bedrooms are on the 2nd and 3rd floors.

The location is perfect. A short walk in either direction to to the square or to shopping and cafes.

The owners of the property are very nice, and quite knowledgeable about Flemish history, and are a wealth of information. They live close by, and encourage a call for any reason.

The only change we would recommend, put a sofa in the living room. There are four chairs, two could be replaced by a nice soft sofa to lounge on after a long day of site seeing.

Bruges is a real Disney Fantasy Land. It has the castle square look, parks with grass and lakes and swans. Local characters abound, we loved watching the people from a perfect spot at an outdoor cafe, with the best coffee drinks and, of course, chocolates.

If you like mussels. This is the place. 1.2 kilo servings. That's a lot of mussels! They come served in multiple ways.

If we find our self in Bruges, we would get this little house again.

Our stay in Bruge

Review Submitted: April 18, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
What a lovely old house! We stayed for 3 nights and found the location excellent, right in the heart of Bruge. The house was well looked after and clean and the owner Dirk was really helpful and friendly. I would reccommend this house for couples wanting a romantic holiday or families with slightly older children. The stairs are very steep in the house and in my view not suitable for very young children. I have to say also, the beds were pure luxury and whirlpool baths were heavenly.
Thankyou Dirk and Hilde!

Beautiful Bruges

Emsop London
Review Submitted: February 8, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
We had a lovely time in Bruges and our stay in Boterboom House was very enjoyable.
The property is much larger than we anticipated with 3 floors and beautiful high ceilings and exposed beams everywhere. Highlights for us were the bedrooms which were gorgeous and the fabulous bathrooms, which had large, deep baths. Wonderful!
Location was spot on and close to everything. The owners Hilde and Dirk were very kind and helpful.
We would highly recommend Boterboom House!
