A lovely, relaxing stay at casa martin

We had a fabulous and very relaxing time at this lovely villa. The scenery is stunning with amazing sunsets. The villa is very well equipped with excellent facilities. It is remote though (which is what we wanted) and you need a car that will be able to cope with the steep dirt road up the hills to where the villa is. We woudl strongly recommend the villa.

Casa Martin - July 2009

Review Submitted: July 19, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
What a wonderful villa. We can't begin to put into words the peace and quite of the location - and the views - nestled as it is in the foothills - truly peaceful.

The villa is fantastic - finished and equipped to a very high standard that would put most of the hotels I've seen to shame. The welcome pack covered the essentials, which is great if you arrive late.

The information in the villa about the surrounding area and attractions is very good - lots to choose from - but we could have just as easily stayed at the villa all the time and just relaxed in the hot tub.

A very minor problem was sorted out quickly by Bob and his local contact (who is a complete diamond) - so if there are issues be in no doubt - Bob and Gunny do care and go that extra mile for you.

So in a sentence - peaceful and relaxing. The most relaxing holiday we've had in a long time.

On Arrival at casa martin , nestled in the foothills of the beautiful sierra muontains, we had our breaths taken away with the beauty of the area where the villa is situated.
The villa is fantastic Bob and Gunny had thought of everything , the fittings and fixtures of this delightfull villa are first class.
The owners where very helpfull giving usefull tips about where to go and what to do with lots of brouchures in the villa an array of things to do just awaits , having a coffee , watching the sun set over the mountains while a herd of goats walked by with there bells ringing was just magical, and the addition of a spa bath was a great and luxurieus way to relax after a days sight seeing .
Torre del mar is lovely with a water park nearby to keep the kids amused , the shopping cente complex was very cheap and food excellent , a trip to lake vinullia is a must as is a trip to little hollywood where the sergio leione films where made , fist full of dollers etc the people are very welcoming but most dont speak english so its quite fun learning a new language , there are lots of excellent resturants head for the smaller we had the best sea bass ive ever tasted on the sea front at torre del mar, we drove along the coastal road to malaga the n340 its a fantasic drive , highly reccommed a visit to the bull fighting ring in malaga there is a cafe oppersite which is fab.
overall we had a fantastic holiday and the best sleeps ever in the peacefull villa , i highly recommed this little gem , of a villa but only come here if you want to experience pure magic , we will be coming back again , just wonderfull !!!!!

Fantastic Relaxing Getaway

Review Submitted: June 20, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Visited Casa Martin in March 2009. We were looking for a peaceful place to relax for a week in the sun and were sold by the description of mountain views and a hot tub. We weren't disappointed. The villa had everything we could want and Bob and Gunny were excellent hosts - right down to meeting us to show us the way to the villa as we arrived in the dark to the bottle of wine and fresh fruit and flowers awaiting our arrival. The villa was clean and spacious and the views from are spectacular. There was plenty to see and do in the surrounding area and the local village was beautiful. The seafood at the local supermarket was very tasty and reasonably priced and we made good use of the barbeque and of course the hot tub. The only slight downside was the road up to the villa, which was slightly hairy, especially the first time. Good news is you do get used to it and there is another longer but easier and very scenic drive down if you want. I would recommend this villa to anyone and am sure we will visit again as we had such a great time.

Casa Martin September 2008

Review Submitted: February 19, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
Casa Martin made for an excellent holiday. Spacious, quiet and ‘away from it all’, yet easily reached by car. The route from the main road to Casa Martin includes beautiful scenery and fantastic views, which are only bettered by the views from the villa itself.

Everything has been thought of at the villa. Guests will want for nothing. Casa Martin is very comfortable and incredibly well equipped. Our welcome pack was very handy, including a number of vital essentials to see us through ‘til the first trip to the supermarket and more. Information pack contains lots of handy recommendations for an enjoyable stay.

Bob and Gunny were very polite, courteous and helpful prior to our arrival. All questions were answered quickly and informatively. Deposit and balance were paid by transfer, making the process very simple. Their website is great too – we found the instructions on how to find the villa not only invaluable, but incredibly accurate and easily to follow. There are also write ups on the surrounding area so you can plan some or all of your trips before you go.
It as a pleasure meeting Den and her husband, they welcomed us to the villa (and the Costa) and reassured us that they were only a phone call away, should we need anything.

Hot tub is excellent – very relaxing especially with the addition of a glass of wine!

Not only did we enjoy the privacy casa Martin offers, but also some of the enchantment of its location too. The local farmer moving his herd from his farm to the grazing ground, clouds disappearing into the hills after an over-night thunder storm and relaxing on the patio at night, with a drink whilst watching the stars, as well as the lights and fireworks from distant towns.

Although situated in the hills, the beach is only a 15/20 minute car journey away and the pretty Nerja and Frigiliana are no more than 45 minutes. Canillas D’Acietuno is a pretty little village with an excellent English run restaurant.

We had a fantastic stay at Casa Martin. We returned to the UK feeling relaxed and refreshed. Recommending Casa Martin goes without saying. We hope to return to Costa Del Sol in the near future and will be sure to check availability of Casa Martin before looking elsewhere.

Casa Martin in October 2008

The Casa Martin lived up to the description, and more. The villa's amenities are of a very high standard with careful attention to detail and cleanliness. The welcome pack was much appreciated, as was the hot tub after a day's exploring! It is a truly tranquil setting and an ideal base for those wanting to explore the charm of rural Spain, with it's whitewashed villages and friendly atmosphere.
Bob and Gunny were happy to share their unique knowledge of the area and the local inhabitants, and dealt with any queries with immediacy, humour and goodwill. However, they were never intrusive.
We would have no hesitation in recommending the Casa Martin, and hope to return ourselves in 2009.

After 5 days near Marbella it was a breath of fresh air to get away from the commercialism. Great municiple pool only 15 mins away and a great base for exploring the Sierra's. We were sad to leave. Very friendly and trustworthy owners.

Peace, views and comfort

We spent a very pleasant 10-day break in this extremely comfortable and well equipped villa.

All the fixtures and fittings are of a high standard. We wanted for nothing! Bob and Gunni provided us with a comprehensive pack of provisions and throughout our stay were the perfect hosts, reachable, helpful and totally unobtrusive!

The villa is well situated in very beautiful surroundings. If you love peace and quiet, birdlife and nature while being within easy reach of the coast and “cultural destinations” then this would be an ideal choice.

The villa is reached by a dirt track. This seems a bit of a challenge first time but soon becomes routine!

We enjoyed a magical “christening” of the hot tub! It had been installed the week before our visit and we sat there, wine within reach, gazing up at the stars as the mist crept up the valley! Not bad for February!
