Well appointed and relaxed

mchumph hertfordshire, UK
Review Submitted: September 17, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The house was well described being a spacious, well decorated property with good facilities. All rooms are in good order with the upstairs common area of particular note being a very large open space with a splendid view.
Outdoor living was equally well served with loungers, hammocks, a very substantial bench and large barbecue.
The village is quiet and our interactions with the locals were friendly and convivial, even though our language skills were mixed.

The owner could not have been more friendly and helpful.

The local town, Cedeira, is of reasonable size and can provide all food shopping, restaurant and general supplies. It is accessible by bicycle or on foot although, realistically, this option is only available for the sturdier as the house's position near the top of the hill results in substantial climbs being required on return.

If, like us, you have not visited Galicia previously then I suggest you don't delay. The whole area is stunningly beautiful with fertile woodlands, the amazing coastline, fabulous beaches, friendly people, superb food and extremely gluggable wines. And Golmar 13 makes for an extremely comfortable and relaxed base from which to explore.

Perfect setting

We very much enjoyed our stay at Golmar 13, very relaxing, loved the garden and of course the chestnut tree, which the children camped out in all week. The beaches were beautiful and quiet and the children loved boogie boarding at Pantin.

From the moment we arrived in Golmar, the sun started shining and hardly a cloud all week.

Spent three weeks in Asturais and Galicia and throughout entire trip met no British holidaymakers which is quite extraordinary. Need to urgently start Spanish classes!

Golmar 13 is a wonderful rental

If you have the opportunity to rent this house you really should grab it! My family of four, iincluding our two boys who are 18 and 21, have just returned to Canada from a week at Golmar 13. The rather odd name is simply the address of the house in the tiny hamlet of Golmar.

The house is spacious, spotlessly clean, well maintained and beautifully decorated. Each of the four bedrooms has unique features, making it difficult to choose among them, and the 3 baths and kitchen are completely modernized but maintain the character of the old house.

What really sets Golmar 13 apart, however, is its incredible setting - the garden is surrounded by a stone wall covered with blackberries and honeysuckle vines, and is entered through iron gates to a flagstone courtyard. The photos on the website really don't do justice to the character and charm of this house. As the site mentions, Golmar 13 also enjoys a spectacular and uninterrupted view of miles of coastline. The nearby village of Cedeira has all the services you would need including several very nice small restaurants serving great seafood.

My older boy enjoyed three days of surf lessons at nearby Pantin, a famous surf beach, and there are numerous trails to hike and local sights to see. The wonderful city of Santiago is about 90 minutes away, making an interesting day trip should you be able to tear yourself away from the coast.

This is not particularly a shopping destination, and obviously not an urban holiday, but if you are even slightly active and want a break from life's treadmill, this is a property which really can't be beaten.

We are french, so please excuse us for our english.
Golmar 13 is a wonderful house.
Golmar is a very small village with a spectacular sea view. There is absolutely no neighbourhood.
The house is very very well restored. All the volume are perfect.
We specially enjoy the living room at the second floor with its fantastic sea view.
The decoration is very nice: I've never rent a house with such nice things. In every details (paintings, furniture...).
It was of course perfectly clean.
We enjoy great holidays in Golmar 13. We felt as if we were invited by a friend in his house.
And we understood the name of the website dosextremos: we were really at one end of Spain. A unforgettable experience.

Golmar 13

Review Submitted: August 13, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Great house with plenty of flexible accomodation.
Nicely appointed in a small hamlet near the town of Ceidera.
Cracking views of the coast from house and garden.
The local beaches (within 10k) are beautiful and when the sun shines cannot be beaten.
If you like seafood then this is also the place for you and Ceidera has lots of great spanish restaurants that all serve lovely fresh fish.
Good local shops (bakery, small supermarket etc) and well equipped kitchen so cooking up catch of the day at home also very feasible.
Rental experience painless, and lead up/joining instructions all well managed.
We went in the summer, but house also seems well equipped with log fire (and gallons of hot water) etc to cater for a winter getaway.
You will need a car (both to get to the house and get around).
Highly recommended.

Spectacular views from a beautiful house

Review Submitted: July 16, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
We had a wonderful, relaxing and very peaceful holiday in this beautifully restored house which has a pretty garden with breathtaking views along the Atlantic coast. The house is well-equipped with comfortable bedrooms. Our grown-up offspring enjoyed the surfing in nearby Pantin and the house bicycles for exploring the cliffs and countryside. We enjoyed the walking and the delicious local fruit and vegetables and of course fish. Blissfully quiet and restorative. Difficult to decide where to sit and read as so many delightful sitting areas and of course the garden loungers and outside sofa!

Lovely, peaceful location. Stunning views. Spacious house, clean, comfortable and very nicely furnished. Kitchen especially well equipped. Pleasant garden. Good walks from house. Owner's description is accurate and the owner was easy to contact, pleasant and helpful.
Lovely local towns to visit, FEVE coastal railway not to be missed. Santiago de Compostela very interesting and good by rail from Ferrol. Lots of nice places to eat and local markets to shop from.
