Starting with booking the cottage, this was a easy process and the owners were friendly, very heplful and accommodating. The cottage exceeded our expectations and justifies the description, and has real character. Its nestled in beautiful countryside, so you must be prepared for driving on narrow, high hegded lanes but then thats what Devon countryside is all about. The cottage is very well maintained, and very clean throughout. It is spacious and being a family of five adults with a baby too, we did not feel cramped at all in the cottage. The lounge, kitchen/dining room and bedrooms are large and very comfortable. It has an excellent standard of furnishings and in a fine state of decoration The level and standard of equipment is first rate. There has obviously been a great deal of thought put in to furnishing and equippiing the cottage, DVD player and VCR for those movies you must see; WIFI for those that can't leave thier laptop at home; full range of kitchen utentils to cook anything; toys for children, books, DVDs, and games for all, just in case you can't think what you want to do; even bath toys up in the bathrooms; leaflets and info on local attractions and activities, and a visitors book where you can read what previous occupants have done and thought of the cottage. We took up a recommendation to eat at the Cricket Inn in Beesands and had a very enjoyable meal. The location enables you to access many local places of interest, and once you get your bearings you realise how close everything is even though you are right in the countryside. The towns of Kingsbridge, Totnes and Dartmouth are worth a casual stroll with interesting history and individual shops; each has a supermarket for all your culinary needs. The nearest is Kingsbridge and at only 6 miles away its easy to pop back to when you forget that vital ingredient from the supermarket. We walked around the coastal path at Start Point and its lighthouse, we spent a lovely day at Hope Cove and recommend these to all families. We also recommend a visit to the Living Coasts zoo at Torquay where a lot of effort has been made to educate us all on the coastal enviroment and its fauna. Penguins walk pass you while inca terns fly above. And the Buckfastleigh steam railway along the river Dart. Adults and children alike enthralled by travelling on a marvellous steam engine We have nothing but praise for this cottage, its location and South Devon. We have already recommended the cottage to our friends.
