Had a great time in yanway cottage, two adults and two children. The cottage is very well equipped with modern decor and very clean. Troutbeck is a lovely village with many small walks for the younger children to explore with two great pubs within easy walking distance. A great lakedistrict holiday location and wonderful accommodation will definitely be back.

YANWAY COTTAGE, TROUTBECK, LAKE DISTRICT

We had a lovely two week stay at Yanway with two dogs. The cottage is very pretty and modern..added bonus was a TV with SKY. Kitchen was well kitted out with nice cutlery, dishes, glasses, large fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, dishwasher and washing machine/dryer. Beautiful fittings, especially the bathroom (and there's a hairdryer!). Nice garden across little bridlepath was perfect for dogs, dinner, sun-bathing. Yes, there was sun! In fact, only two days of cloudy weather/rain, otherwise beautiful. The scenery is outstanding but the highlights were some of the best restaurants. Fellini's in Ambleside is excellent value...£19.95 for two courses including upstairs at their cinema. Wonderful food! Lucy's on a Plate in Ambleside is also fun. The Lakes themselves are beautiful, especially Windermere. Lots of boat trips available and highly recommend a long day cruise.

The local pub, the Mortal Man, is under new management and I understand the chef from the wonderful Mucky Duck will soon be taking over. It's a five minute walk from Yanway. Also, down the road is the Queen's Head...excellent food but avoid the £24.95 steak!

Lynn, the owner of Yanway, is just lovely and most helpful and available on her mobile if there's a problem.

Enjoy your stay...we certainly did!

Short Break

Review Submitted: June 1, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The property is a credit to the owners, we found it spotless, beautifully decorated and furnished, very bright and airy. The ideal location for a peaceful and relaxing break. Superbly situated for walkers. The property is exactly the same as the description and photo's on the website (not always the case with rented accommodation).
We had a brilliant short break enjoying a number of walks around the surrounding area which by the way is breath taking. Pity the Mortal Man Inn is shut at the moment but the Queens Head (well within walkin distance) more than made up for it. The food there is great but the pub does get very busy so I would reccomend booking a table to avoid disapointment.
All together a fantastic holiday in a fantastic location which we will definately reccommend to our friends and family.

Firstly, its only right to say that the service afforded by Lynn the property owner was exceptional. The cottage is in an excellent location for those wishing to explore the Lakes.

The cottage itself is one of, if not the best, that we have stayed in. We left the children at home for the weekend but there is more than ample space for a family of four. The cottage is very well equiped, its basically home from home. The decor and furnishings are of a very high standard and very well maintained - a credit to the owner.

The locals in Troutbeck are very friendly. We called at the Queens Head Pub which is just down the road from the cottage - it was very pleasant but extremely busy, probably best to book a table in advance.

If your thinking about visting the Lakes do not hestitate to book this cottage or one of the others offered by the owner - you wont be disappointed. We are off to Bay Tree Cottage, Bowness, in the Summer.

Wonderful cottage, beautifully decorated and furnished - a real home from home and lovely to come back to at the end of the day. Great views and in a perfect spot for plenty of walking. Also walking distance to Queens Head. This is our third visit to the Lakes and our second to Troutbeck. We will definitely be back. Thanks again for a great week.

Just back from a lovely weekend at Yanway Cottage. Rarely does holiday accomodation live up to the pictures on the internet however in this case it really does. The owners have clearly put a lot of time into ensuring the cottage is well decorated and kept to a very high standard. It's a pity the village pub has gone into receivership, however do try the Queens Head as the food was lovely. Small tip for anyone travelling with young children - don't try the walk to Ambleside via the postoffice if you have a pushchair as we ended up carrying baby and pushchaiir throughout the walk!. Forgot to mention location - it must be one of the prettiest villages and definately a break from modern life.

Yanway cottage, Troutbeck, Cumbria

Lovley cottage in idyllic surroundings, everything as described, clean and personally supervised cottage, decorated to highest quality and standards. Lovley walks from the door and only 5 mins to Windermere and Bowness by car. We particulary loved the Queens Head 17th century local pub in Troutbeck for a drink or a lovley meal. All in all Troutbeck is an enchanting place for a peaceful break away from hustle and bustle and surrounded by amazing scenery, we have been visiting this area for several years and have finally found a cottage that is perfect for us with being doggy friendly and having a garden which is quite rare with cottages in this area. We know we have good customer service, and would definately recommend to friends and family. The close proximity to Windermere and Bowness really does give you the best of both worlds for a Lakes Break.
