Scotland in the Autumn!

Review Submitted: October 17, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We would highly recommend a stay at Celtic Cottage. The 'flat' is excellently equipped and spotlessly clean. There is plenty of space for parking a car.

The village of Falkland is very pretty. Even in late September we were able to enjoy the many floral arrangements for the Britain in Bloom competition.

The village is well situated. There are good opportunities for local walks such as climbing East and West Lomond. Just a short car drive gives access to the Fife Coastal path, where walking is easy and there is a chance to visit many picturesque and quaint fishing villages.

If your preference is the town (or should it be too wet for walking) St. Andrews and Edinburgh are within easy reach.

Our long drive up from Lincolnshire was well rewarded.

This flat is a little gem, beautifully furnished and equipped and set in a pretty little village in striking distance of St Andrews, the Fife coastal fishing villages, Perth and even Edinburgh. We got a warm welcome and were made to feel at home. Ideal for a cosy twosome wanting to sample Fife and the region. We liked it a lot.

We stayed for a long weekend in April 2007 and we are going back in September.

It is a lovely cottage, finished beautifully and has all the mod cons. The bottle of wine on arrival is a lovely touch.

There is nice walks around the village and is only a few yards away from a pub which does a great breakfast and there is a fantastic italian restaurant on the high street.

We would recommend this for short breaks and also longer holidays as there is lots to see around Fife.

We spent 3 wonderful weeks in Celtic Cottage in Falkland. The cottage is a good place to start travelling to St. Andrews and the small villages along the eastcoast, but also to many castles and other sights (i.e. Edinborough, Stirling Castle, Perth, Glamis Castle....). Also Falkland is a very nice small village with the interesting Falkand Palace.

Celtic Cottage is well equipped and beautifully decorated. The owners are very friendly and helpful and we felt very welcome. We will recommend this cottage to all our friends.

Had a fab long weekend here in june this year. My wife and I loved it. Celtic Cottage is spotless and is exceptionally well appointed with very nice furnishings.

Evey thing you need is in the village from shops to pubs and restaurants so no need to drive once you get back in the evenings. Good for souring the East Nuek villages and St Andrews and infact Perthshire.

Hosts were very helpful and we were greeted with a nice bottle of wine on arrival.

Will definatley be back, we hightly recommend it.

We stayed at this beautiful cottage for 3 nights and will definately recommend it to friends. Maureen gives excellent customer service from the booking right through to the extra touches which make you feel so welcome. The cottage is perfectly situated in the pretty village which has so much to offer.
We came to visit the surrounding area but were happy to spend time in the cottage as it is so comfortable and clean.
We wll be back in the future.

We stayed her late May and had a wonderful time. Great accomodation, very comfortable with smart quality furnishings through out. The new addition of the garden area and private parking are superb. The village is georgous with several places to eat and drink all within a few minutes walk of the accomodation. There are several nice little craft shops and galleries to visit also. Falkland palace is also worth a visit. Lots of country walks availiable and only a 25 minute drive to St Andrews or lovely costal villages like anstruther or crail for example.

All in all we could not recommend it highly enough.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful village. It had everything you could ask for and was very warm and cosy. The village has the basics and a fab italian for non-cooking nights. It is perfectly situated to tour the east coast villages, to explore St Andrews and Dundee. The owners are wonderful and we were made to feel very welcome.
