Campo Verde, Vilatán, Galicia

Having stayed on two previous occasions with these owners at a different property, we expected an exceptionally high standard and were not disappointed. The house, located in a small Galician village is ideally situated for access to local towns and for touring the picturesque countryside. A car is essential. The house is very well equipped, comfortable and immaculate. The owners make a point of calling round on the first morning to ensure that all is totally satisfactory and to advise on all local facilities etc. Realistic reviews of a range of restaurants, both local and further afield proved to be very helpful, including facilities allowing for our very limited knowledge of the Spanish language. Of particular benefit is a very well documented range of recommended self drive tours with points of historical and scenic interest highlighted; much more user friendly than the normal tourist guides.
An excellent holiday location!

After spending our first week at the seaside, we were looking forward to being in the countryside - and Campo Verde provided the ideal base.

The information we received from the owners, was extremely helpful, including hand-drawn maps and details about the house and area. This converted farmhouse is surrounded by peaceful countryside. It has two outside terraces - one at the side of the house which is very private and one at the front, at the end of a lovely driveway up to the house.

The house itself is solid, stylish and sophisticated, with everything finished to the highest standard. We found it clean and offering every possible facility we could need. The owner offered to have a 'starter pack' of provisions bought in for us - and this was much appreciated after a long drive.

We found two books of information - one, listing all the house facilities with detailed instructions ...TV channels, washing machine, ceramic hob etc. The other book contained a collection of 'self-drive tours' to help us to find routes and interesting places in the immediate area and further afield. We were most impressed with this book. It allowed us to find special places that we would never have found on our own.

The owners were very friendly but they respected our privacy and were careful not to disrupt us more than necessary. The thing we most appreciated about Campo Verde (apart from the pleasure of living in such an elegant house) was its privacy - the side terrace is completely private. We were able to read and sun-bathe in complete peace and privacy.

We would not hesitate in recommending this property. We prefer to cook for ourselves, so we did not sample any restaurants, (but again, the owners had helpfully provided a selection of restaurant reviews.) We enjoyed visiting local towns, following the self-drive routes to places 'off the beaten track' and, as we are both keen water-colour painters, sketching and painting in the lovely Galician countryside. Campo Verde provided us with a peaceful, relaxing and very enjoyable holiday experience.
