A great place to unwind and/or see the sites!!!

We spent a fantastic one week holiday in one of the gites. The facilities were fantastic and location ideal. We were taking French classes at a language school that was only 3 minutes down the road. Saint Saturnin, itself, is a wonderful Provencal village. It is far enough off the usual tourist trails to allow you to kick back and take it easy, but close enough for you to travel by car to some of the more well known tourist sites. However, some of our favourite moments on the holiday were at the gite or in Saint Saturnin, which has lovely chateau ruins overlooking the village. If you like walking, then there are lots of trails nearby. And if you like to take it easy then the gite provides an ideal location to lounge by the pool and soak up the sun whilst absorbed in a good book.

The owners were particularly welcoming and always willing to offer some local knowledge of the places to see in the area. All in all a fantastic holiday and we will definitely look to get back in the near future.

Perfect getaway in the south of France

Review Submitted: October 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed at Karen & David's gite Les Oliviers for a week in August 2009 and loved every minute of it.
First of all the region has a lot to offer. Settled in the hillside over the Luberon valley, the gite is a short walk from the village, where you can get delicious fresh croissants and excellent coffee in the morning. If you have everything you need for breakfast, the patio in front of the gite is the perfect spot to start the day in the sun, overlooking the valley and the very inviting saltwater swimming pool. The region offers everything you ever want from a holiday in the south of France with plenty of options for day trips and an abundance of local markets. Apt and the Saturday market is only 10 mins away, Rousillon, Gordes and the market at Le Coustelet 30 mins, Avignon, Isle-sur-la-Sorgue, St-Remy and Les Baux-de-Provence only an hour and Aix-en-Provence a little more than that. And if you just fancy lazy-ing about and enjoying the sun and the pool, you'll be guaranteed a fantastic day.
On top of all this, Karen and David are amazing hosts, regularly checking if their guests are happy, and keen to assist with anything you might need. More than once David went out of his way to help out and even lend us his computer to check emails and get some work done. A couple of times during our stay we enjoyed drinks at the pool house in the early evening, where we got to know Karen and David, and the other guests and swap stories over a glass of wine and some nibbles.
Last but not least, the gite is compact, well designed and offers all the comfort you need. The kitchen is very well equipped with modern appliances (fridge, microwave, stove with built in oven, dishwasher), the living room has a flat screen tv, dvd player and ipod dock, as well as internet connection. Outside on the deck garden furniture and a BBQ are provided too. The house has been decorated very tastefully in a modern Provencal style, with everything brand new and exceptionally clean. The garden, pool and pool house were impeccably maintained and a pleasure to enjoy. This was a perfect holiday home for two people and a lovely romantic getaway.
Unfortunately we cannot recommend any local restaurants. We enjoyed the fresh produce at the local markets so much, we would often eat at home on the deck watching the night fall over the valley…
As you can see, Karen and David managed to create a piece of haven on earth. Our stay with them was just total bliss!

September in Provence

Having seen the property being built it was great to have the opportunity to stay in it. This was the first time we had stayed in a gite, normally we have rented a house. However, it was big enough for us as a couple and the gite has everything you could need. We loved being able to walk to the village and particulary enjoyed the fabulous swimming pool. Well worth a visit

First, David and Karen are wonderful hosts and the property is spectacular. The gite was clean, very modern and the location is excellent for exploring the Luberon and other areas of Provence.

I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who is looking to have a very comfortable and pleasant visit to this part of France.

Perfect week in Provence

Hurricane2 London, UK
Review Submitted: September 15, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We enjoyed a fantastic week at Les Cerisiers at the start of September.
Accommodation: The gite is kitted out with everything you could possibly want for your stay from dishwasher to iPod docking station. The owners really have thought of every detail and beyond practicalities, it is beautifully decorated.
The pool is great, the views from terrace, pool house and pool are beautiful and it's very private, not overlooked by anyone. There is a private terrace with a BBQ, table and chairs at the front of the gite.
The pool and the grounds are extremely well looked after and it's a comfortable and peaceful place to relax.
Location: St Saturnin Les Apt is a lovely village, an easy walk from the gite brings you to the heart of the village where there are numerous hotels and bars. We ate at four of them, all good. There are remnants of a castle at the top of the village from which you get amazing views over the valley, well worth a look. There is a large supermarket in Apt about 7 km away although most essentials are available in the village as well as an excellent charcuterie and boulangerie.
Things to do: We went off exploring everyday, I don't think you would ever run out of things to see and do. If you do get stuck, the gite owners, Karen and David, are extremely helpful in advising on the local area. We made trips to the Gorge du Verdon (amazing - if you have a car and don't mind a bit of a drive this is a must), Cassis (a beautiful little town on the coast), and walked up Mont Ventoux (although for those less inclined to hike, it's possible to drive and again, well worth it for the view!). If you're into your cycling, this is a great area for you.
We've been to France many times and done self-catering in many different regions but will definitely be back to this one - certainly amongst the best and a truly incredible location.

Wonderful Provence Gite

Review Submitted: September 11, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
This was our first visit to Provence and we'll definitely visit again. Our one bedroom gite really surpassed all our expectations. It was in an excellent location for visiting the beautiful Luberon countryside and benefitted from both seclusion and accessability. The pool was fantastic and a real bonus in the August heat and the owners were extremely accommodating and very helpful. We would wholeheartedly recommend this accommodation.

Provencal Paradise

Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We stayed for a week at the end of August, and found the location, facilities, hosts and weather to be close to perfect. David and Karen are great hosts and very accommodating. The pool is a great tonic after a tough day in the sun. The surrounding areas are a snapshot of "The Real Provence" not the touristy pictures you've seen in the movies. We would happily return, if the cats would have us.

August 2009: Les Cerisiers, St-Saturnin-les-Apt

John & Lindsey United Kingdom
Review Submitted: September 1, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Our two week stay at Les Cerisiers, St-Saturnin-Les-Apt, made a perfect holiday. We were already great fans of the beauty of Provence, & particularly the Luberon, so the setting of the gite, with its view of the hills, was a daily treat! The close proximity to the amenities of the village also made a morning stroll to the boulangerie or an evening meal at ‘l’Estrade’ too tempting to miss! The area has plenty to offer visitors, whether for energetic activities or for relaxed exploring of the vineyards & medieval villages etc.

We found the accommodation tastefully furnished & immaculate, with every facility & attention to detail. We were a little uncertain at first regarding the lack of a door to the ensuite, but actually found this to be no problem at all, in fact, it added to the amusement of the holiday! We fully appreciated the cool flooring system to escape the heat of the day for a short while before returning to the lure of the infinity pool. Perhaps the most significant factor, however, to contribute to the enjoyment of our stay, were the owners themselves. David & Karen made us feel extremely welcome; they worked hard to ensure that all was maintained to the highest standard & yet they remained unobtrusive. It was our choice to enjoy their company for evening ‘aperos’ in the pool house, which also enabled us to get to know our neighbours & to share tales and experiences.

This was a truly unforgettable holiday & one, which we can wholeheartedly recommend.

The weather was hot, the pool perfectly cool and the company warm. The attention to detail has paid off. The gites, pool and grounds are immaculate. The location was wonderful; close enough to walk into the village in 10mins and still far enough away to enjoy peace and privacy.
