Another Sunny Day......

Villa Yilmaz was our home for 4 fantastic weeks. It was ideal for our family of four (kids aged 8 and 10) and the weather was superb. The villa was spotless on arrival and the beds and towels freshly washed. All the facilities that we needed (we mostly cooked our own meals) were present and the large fridge was a bonus.
The roof terrace and covered patio were great, giving the option of sun or shade.
The kids were entertained by the pool and made friends with other visitors. The boat to the beach gave a bit of variety when only the sea would do.
We hired a car for the duration which I would recommend to give you the flexibility to travel when and where you want. However, many restauarants would collect and return diners by arrangement and day trips would pick up from Akdeniz.
All in all, we would strongly recommend a stay at Villa Yilmaz, particularly for famillies. As for the area, well we are going to build our own house nearby so, we'll be back!

Villa Yilmaz Review

Review Submitted: September 17, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We (2 adults and our 12 year old daughter) have just spent 2 weeks at the villa and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
The villa and complex is maintained to an extremely high standard and is located in a lovely secluded rural location.
As mentioned in another earlier review, it is off the main tourist track so allows you to experience the true Turkey rather than the commercialised version. The views/scenery are beautiful with a number of lovely beaches nearby.
The villa had everything you would need whether eating out or self-catering (we did a mix of both). If self-catering, Dalaman has a number of good supermarkets that you can buy all you would need.
Even though many of the villas were occupied we often had the complex pool to ourselves (no need for early risers to put towels on sunbeds!)
The location was an excellent base to explore some of the delights of that part of Turkey, either via hire car or one of the many organised trips. We had a hire car which gave us the freedom to come and go as we pleased however if you opt not to, taxi’s are plentiful in all the locations. If you don’t plan to travel far, it may work out cheaper to use taxi’s and the organised trips which are reasonably priced.
We found the locals very friendly, they always made us welcome and the local markets are an experience themselves and fun if you like to barter.
Finally, we found the information that Halim has provided on the website and in the villa very useful. It helped us get the most from our holiday and understand some of the Turkish culture and traditions.
In summary I would have no hesitation in recommending the villa.

Excellent holiday

An excellent holiday. The villa was lovely and the complex was clean, well maintained and secure. The locals were very friendly and helpful. There were two adults and three children in our party and there was plenty of room for us all. The kids loved the pool which is ideal for families.
The only problem for us was that the complex was too far to walk to the town and we didn't want to hire a car. The taxi service was fine though so transport was not a great problem.
Sarigerme beach is excellent but the sea becomes deep very quickly so perhaps not ideal for the very young or poor swimmers.
Thoroughy recommended as a holiday destination if you like a quiet base from which to travel from.
Also I would recommend you to take advantage of the many tours available in the town. They are reasonably priced and the ones we went on were great fun.
Final note, be careful of the mozzies!
Owner's Response: Just a couple of points to make in response to Bern's review:
1) We do mention that Sarigerme is a 10 minute drive from the complex which probably means it's a bit far to walk for an evening meal. However, taxis are plentiful and very cheap especially compared to car-hire.
2) At the closest beach (the one that is reached by river taxi) the sea becomes deep quite quickly and has a strong sideways current. However, the Public Beach (reached by going through Sarigerme) is perfect for families - especially those with small children - as it is very shallow and therefore much warmer. The Public Beach also has plenty of facilities e.g. cafes, toilets, showers, sunbeds/parasols for hire and a childrens play area. In peak season, there's also a tractor-taxi from the centre of Sarigerme.
3) Unfortunately mozzies can be a problem in Turkey, especially at dusk. The Akdeniz site is sprayed to try and minimise the problem. We do provide plug-in mozzy repellant devices for all rooms in the villa. Liquid refills can be bought locally, as can bottles of "Sin Kov" mozzy repellant spray.

Villa Yilmaz

Review Submitted: May 6, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2008
Spent a week in Villa Yilmaz in August 2008.The setting of the Villa complex is secluded and very well mantained with a spacious communal pool area which even in August was very quiet. The villa was spotless and very well equipped with plenty of space for our family of five. The attention to detail especially in relation to helpful information and equipment was great. The location is off the main road along an unmade track so although taxis are available I would recommend a car.Car avialabilty also meant it was easy to reach very good and well priced local restaurants. The villa was a great base to explore Turkey away from the main tourist track.

Lovely family holiday!

We'd had many great trips to Turkey over the years as a couple but this was the first time with 2 young children (aged 2 & 3 1/2) so were a little nervous particulary going in the heat of the summer. However we were not to be be disappointed. Villa Yilmaz was a great base for us for the week that we spent there in July '08. Understandably we structured our days around the children, mornings in the pool, eating out for lunch (in a nearby village or the great little cafe on site) and afternoons by the pool. The children and daddy had a nap after lunch which gave mummy an unexpected opportunity to catch some rays! We tended to eat in the villa each evening, rather than inflict our boistrous youngsters on diners who were looking for a quiet, romantic meal. This worked really well, the villa was very well equipped with every cooking implement required and we managed to feed the children first, put them to bed and then relax with a glass or two of local vino. We organsied a hire car with Halim complete with the appropriate childrens car seats. We enjoyed having the flexibility of going where we wanted when we wanted but taxis were available at the complex and were relatively inexpensive. We would definatly go back again in fact we would have done this summer if it wasn't already booked up!

Wonderful Place, Great Holiday

Review Submitted: February 7, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2008
Five of us (2 adults, 2 teenagers, one infant) took two weeks at Villa Yilmaz and had a wonderful time. The location is great, we flew from Doncaster to Dalaman so less than an hours travel at each end. The villa itself is recently decorated, equipped and furnished. The staff in the complex are most friendly and helpful - we even had our luggage carried from the car to the Villa for us!

The pool is clean and plenty of shade for the mid afternoon when it can get hot. A short drive to plenty of local shops and restaurants. Don't miss the markets which are well worth a visit.

We appreciated the air conditioning in the rooms and the roof balcony was a pleasant surprise. The villa was a super base for exploring. If thats your thing then car hire is probably the best route - though taxis from the villa complex are available on a fixed price basis. We had a day trip to Ephesus (recommend an early start) and every kind of beach is a short drive away; the most local one is served by a great little river-taxi. Local restaurants are plentiful and inexpensive.

Halim and Chris were most knowledgable about the local area and we had plenty to do every day with their helpful guides and tips. A few hidden gems such as the local mud-baths gave us some happy memories and softer skin!

It would be hard to find fault with our time there - as it was our first trip to Turkey we were a little nervous but have no hesitation in recommending the Villa as the base for a smashing holiday.
