Well worth it ...

This was an excellent experience starting with Erik's responsiveness during my email communication prior to booking the apartment. All arrangements were perfectly met, financial transactions through PayPal, the apartment is spacious, newly renovated, very clean, wireless Internet access.
We arrived from Newark airport, Taxi is ~$75, lots of restaurants and a great coffee shop directly across on 1st Ave. Central Park, Rockefeller Center, MoMa are all in walking distance, subway on Lexington is only a short walk (5 min.).

GOOD LOCATION BUT NEEDS A BIT OF WORK

Tuam MADRID
Review Submitted: October 27, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My familly and I stayed for 4 nights, the location is quite good, the restaurants around are excellent and the food court across the road very good too.
The apartment was very big and spacious and clean although I had to buy cleaning stuff for the bathrooms since they weren´t up to standards.
The double beds are quite small though, smaller than American standards.
Our real problem was the noise, and it wasn´t the traffic since the street where it´s located is very quiet, it was impossible to sleep at night due to the aircon machines situated just outside our bedroom windows, the noise kept going all night long, so if you want a quiet night after a hard day touring around, maybe it´s not the right place to stay, if you are somebody that can sleep just about anywhere, then I would recommend it.
The TV wasn´t working either, although we didn´t have time to watch it anyway.
By the way, just to let people with disabilities or mobility problems know that that there is no elevator in the building, you need to walk up about 50 steps to get up to the apartment with your full suitcase in your hand, something that proved quite painfull on the way out since we had very heavy suitcases.

On the other hand we found the agents very nice and helpfull, always replied to queries straight away and the self che in was very convenient also.
Owner's Response: Thank you for staying with City Lights. I'm sorry to hear that you did not find the bathrooms cleaned to your liking. I really wish you would have told us. We would have sent the cleaning lady back in right away! Further, the television was/is working. Sometimes, people just change the input so the picture doesn't come out, but you just have to set the TV to component 2 and it will work. I am also sorry that you found the apartment noisy. We really can't control the noise of the a/c's from our neighbors, but we would have happily supplied some earplugs for you to help you sleep at night. Anyhow, thank you for staying with us. We have many different apartments, so the next time you come to NYC, please contact us again. We will be happy to set you up in another, equally nice but hopefully less noisy apartment!

Kind Regards,

Damon and the City Lights Staff

Birthday Break

Lucky Lady Reading, England
Review Submitted: October 22, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
This appartment was absolutely fantastic, it was really spacious and very clean. There were six of us staying and there was plenty of room for all of us. The location was perfect, and the food emporium just around the corner was amazing. We would certainly recommend this appartment to anyone wishing to visit New York. Taxi fare from JFK was a flat rate of $45. What a great way to spend a birthday break.

Great vacation in NY

Kaarina New York, NY
Review Submitted: September 25, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
The apartment was in a very good condition and most of all the location was perfect. Though it was 8 of us in the apartment, we fit in well (although I wouldn’t recommended the apartment for 8 person if they were not really close, we were a group of mothers and daughters, all grown-up, so we managed well). The apartment was clean and light and both bathrooms were also in good condition. The beds were comfortable too.
The near-by shops (a wonderful food-market, a liquer store) and restaurants (lovely Japanese restaurant in the next building) were really good.
Since we were 8 ladies' staying, we would have loved to see some posters or paintings on the wall (maybe they are coming?) and bedside-lamps besides all beds. They would bring an extra warmth to the apartment.
The location is a real bonus, we walked easily to Moma, Bloomingdales and Times Square, among other places. We only wish we could have spent a few more extra days!

We really enjoyed our stay in this spacious apartment. It is in a good locality - 5 minutes from Maceys (and the Metro/Tube/Subway) and within walking distance of Central Park and the other midtown sights. It also has a couple of very good cafes and the excellent Food Emporium all within a couple of hundred yards.
