A beautiful home in a breathtaking countryside

We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful, luxury home. It is exquisitely furnished with a high attention to detail creating a comfortable and relaxing retreat from long days exploring nearby perched villages, trips to the beach and adventures in Avignon and Aix. It was filled with everything we could have needed, bikes and helmets to enjoy the breathtaking countryside, a children’s room with toys, books and DVDs for my 4-year old niece, and dishes to entertain family and friends on the beautiful outside garden patio. This is a home not a house. We very much appreciated all of the guidebooks, maps, dining and itinerary suggestions, to set us on our way to a lovely one-week vacation in Provence.

The next door neighbor looks after the house, and she is fantastic. Always accessible by phone, came over whenever we had a question on how to work something (like the oven), incredibaly friendly, and super patient with my basic french.

The house is beautifully situated, and such a great way to enjoy the area. It's only 45 mins to Aix-en-Provence, 20 minutes to lavender fields and famous perched villages, and the closest big city is Avignon. We particularly enjoyed the market days to get fresh produce, flowers, and Provence-made goods (tablecloths, kitchen towels, soaps, etc.). The lavender museum in Coustellet is a must, and exploring the ruins of Oppede-le-Vieux (5 minute walk) in the evening is magical.

In the end, this is not only a home we would visit again, but a home we wish we could live in!

Thanks for the perfect stay!

Jina and Georg

I had a spectacular first time stay in France in this house! Cozy yet spacious, and very very tidy! There was nothing missing, everything we thought we needed to bring they already had for us! Beautiful scenery, and isn't far from some wonderful villages that we went to. If you're gonna stay in Provence, this would be the place, I honestly wouldn't settle for anywhere else.

Gorgeous Home Away from Home in Provence

What a beautiful home! We stayed here in July after arriving into Avignon by train from Paris-- so close!! It was all so easy, especially with great tips from the owners.

The house was even more fabulous than the photos. Incredibly comfortable and easy for 4 women to get ready! Great bathrooms- all equipped with hairdryers-you don't need to bring a thing! Everything was well thought out. It truly was like being at home. Everything I wanted or needed was already there!

The home is spacious, immaculate, and furnished with lovely antiques and beautiful Provencial linens. It was great to have such an amazing kitchen- fit for a gourmet cook, and a great place for entertaining French-style. A wonderful & spacious dining room inside, and Al Fresco patio with bbq outside in the private courtyard garden.

The bedrooms were lovely and spacious, with really comfortable beds and high quality linens. we each had our own rooms and slept like babies! So quiet in the country, yet close to town. It was really convenient to have wifi internet- and even though we brought our own laptops, we didn't need to, because, of course, there is already one there!

The house is perfectly located in a beautiful section of the Luberon Valley in Provence- easily accessible to Gordes, Arles, St. Remy, Les Beaux, or in another direction, Marseilles, Cassis, Aix, or the Cote D'Azur! We went to all of them and more! We drove west to Barcelona on a side trip, and then east to Cannes and then Italy! Easily doable from this location, but it was always great to come back "Home" to Oppede to a sky full of stars and the sound of the summer cicadas.

I hope I'll be able to visit again and share this wonderful place with other friends- even staying 2 weeks, we feel like there was so much more to see & do! We even caught the Tour de France & a French bullfight in a Roman amphitheatre. Mas Coccinelle is a truly heavenly retreat and a great place from which to experience the French countryside.

We had a wonderful week staying in the home in the Spring of 2008. The house has been beautifully restored, with wonderful wood detailing and old world stonework. The kitchen and baths are charming and have all the modern amenities one would want. It was fun to shop in the local markets and then bring the ingredients back to cook in the beautiful French farmhouse kitchen. There are vineyards and farms in the neighborhood which provide nice views for early morning strolls. A small town with a casual cafe is in walking distance of the home, and a little further down the road are wonderful views of the surronding valley. The house is within easy driving distance of some very famous hilltop villages and markets.... like Gordes, Roussillon, and Isle sur la Sorgue. It was an unforgettable experience.

My visit to Oppede was truly magical. This home is so perfect for a family or a group of 6-8 people. The comforts of this home are outstanding, for all the accommodations were so thought out for guests of this beautiful, yet so livable, functional home.

The location is a perfect pivatol point to travel to other villages such as Les Beau and St. Remy, to name a few. and, Oppede is about an hour to Avignon to hop on the TGV to travel to other regions of France.

I am so looking forward to returning to this home in Oppede.

Mas de la Coccinelle is Marvelous!!

Review Submitted: April 20, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
From the moment I walked in, I knew we were going to enjoy our stay here. The decor is beautiful - typical Provence. The house is surrounded by beauty, a wonderful milieu of vineyards and charm. It was so great to have A/C! Very important to have in the summer here!

With Chateauneuf a mere 45 minutes away, we had some spectacular day tours in French wine country. After a couple of days of tasting our favorite libations, we did some great hiking in the area. We saw several cyclists throughout, so if you are a biker you would also enjoy this area a great deal.

The food - all I can say is wow! A variety of restaurants and markets in the surrounding villages kept us busy.

The house itself is a great property. Very clean and comfortable beds - we slept like babies! Check-in was smooth and easy. When communicating with the owners via email, I found them to be very accomodating and friendly.

It feels like paradise

this beautifully renovated 19th century stone-built house is a really superb place to stay. we were lucky to do so for this easter. with its great antique furniture and the comfort of modern gadgets such as lights to dim in almost every room, the jacuzzi, central heating, AC for the hot days (just to name a few) it feels like paradise.
we had a great and relaxing time there, also because the house lies in a quiet old village, very central to all the other medieval villages around the Luberon area. even to Avignon it’s only a short drive by car.
we just love this house, its friendly neighbours and the peaceful surroundings, so next time we visit the Provence we’d like to see the fields of blooming lavendel and we will sure stay in the Coccinelle again. Alors à bientôt!
