Lovely, peaceful cottage in beautiful countryside

JW Away London
Review Submitted: November 12, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Spent 3 days with my pregnant wife to get away from it all and what a perfect place to do it in. The cottage is beautifuly decorated with lots of nice touches from the owner including breakfast stuff being left for our stay. The owner was lovely, helpful and even gave us some apples from the trees in the garden.
The pub is literallly across the road and whilst the walks in the area are lovely there are a number of towns to explore too. Both Salisbury and Shaftesbury are an easy drive away.
A perfect place to get away from it and relax, and just two hours from Richmond. SO nice to have a woodburner too!

We really enjoyed our stay in the cottage. The surroundings are beautiful and the cottage is very tastefully decorated. We enjoyed some peaceful walks in the surrounding countryside and lovely meals in the pub across the road. I would recommend this place to anyone who wants to get away from it all. An easy and relatively short drive from London yet it could not feel further away!

A perfect 1st year Anniversary weekend!

First of all, Soo and her husband have been the sweetest of hosts, going as far as providing us with shopping I'd sent them a list of in order to prepare lovely meals for my lovely wife. She, by the way, had no idea of where I was bringing her for our 1st year Anniversary...

The cottage is like a postcard out of a great fairytale illustration: beautiful little garden, very warm and cosy living room/kitchenette, modern yet hearty bedroom/bathroom... Every new step and every minute spent there made us want to stay way longer than only a weekend.

There's a lovely unforgettable pub just 30 seconds up the road, with friendly staff, great grub and a nice selection of local beers to boot. Highly recommended!

The countryside is beautiful and you'll find plenty to see if you like to walk in enchanting surroundings.

Going back to the cottage itself, we had all our meals outside because we were blessed with awesome weather but if we just wanted to cosy up on the sofa... We had a lovely little fire going on, a great big flat screen TV and an entertaining selection of DVD movies, as well as an iPOD dock!

What else can you want for a lovely, relaxing weekend in the country?

We recommend the White Cottage with all our heart and would love to come back again!

Thank you so much!

We were celebrating a special anniversary and we found the special cottage to do this. Wonderful and peaceful surroundings, stunning cottage and amazing hospitality.
Little touches by Soo that amde all the difference. We need to return now in the winter so that we can get use from the log burner!

Lovely cottage.
Owners really friendly and helpful.
Beautiful location - perfect for walking.
Great pub (Compasses Inn) just a 2 minute walk with delicious food. Gets quite busy - make sure you book.
Overall a great break away.

We really enjoyed our couple of nights in this lovely cottage. So wonderful not to hear traffic and to have such a peaceful and relaxing stay in very comfortable surroundings. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud - didn't want to get up! All mod cons in a traditional setting and a nice log fire to take off any night time chill. Lovely garden with sunshine all day. We'll be back!

Gorgeous cottage, stylish and cosy + great pub

We had a really fantastic weekend stay in this gorgeous cottage in March...so much so that we took an extra day off work to avoid having to leave! The cottage has been very stylishly done up, but still feels cozy (log fire for the cold). Lovely furniture. French windows that open onto a lovely garden overlooking the fields. The bathroom is open into the bedroom upstairs - not a problem as long as you're comfortable with each other, and very tastefully done!

The owners were incredibly friendly and live next door so are to-hand when you need, but no sense of being crowded. All set in beautiful countryside, lovely surrounding villages and walks.

We had a great dinner at the Compasses Inn just across the lane - amazing food, lovely old building and friendly staff.

Overall, highly recommended and a steal for the price! Would go back in a second.
