We've stayed at this villa on two occasions. On each stay we've had a marvelous time and the owners were friendly and very helpful in making both our stays as good as it gets. We had arrived after dark, courtesy of Ryanair's flight into Granada, and it wasn't until we opened the window shutters the next morning that we could fully appreciate the wonderful views from the upstairs bedroom and terrace. We also enjoyed having our lunches and drinks on the lower terrace as we soaked up the last rays of sunshine before our evening meal. A night out in one of the many restaurants in Orgiva, which is about five minutes away in the hire car, was also a must. We have visited the villa in January as well as early Spring and have had beautiful weather on both occasions. It is an ideal place for walking holidays, exploring the real Spain (much better than the touristy coast!) or just chilling by the pool with a good book. I wasn't brave enough to try the pool though, it was January after all although some did!
The villa is very well appointed and we found the facilities very useful and the fact that we could do some washing reduced the amount of luggage we needed to take for our holiday and cooking our own meals most evenings helped keep the cost down.If you've been walking all day you don't always want to go into town for a meal. Granada was about an hour away and is well worth a full day trip to visit the Alhambra Palace and Granada is also full of super restaurants and bars. The coast is also quite lovely and the owners gave us directions for an excellent restaurant on a hill overlooking the coast for our last (extended) lunch. Glad I wasn't driving! The villa is highly recommended. We will definitely return. "
Owner's Response: Many thanks for your splendid review and we hope to see you again.I think as you pointed out there are so many things and places to visit and fantasic walking just on the doorstep, that people run out of time to do everything!
But of course in the very hot months it's great to chill out by the pool with a good book,we love it here because it's our home, that must say it all!!

We had a lovely stay in El Sabuco - thank you once again Ann and Dave. Amusing a family of four 'youths', ranging in age from 10-20, is not an easy task at the best of times but this place has something for everyone to enjoy! The villa itself is kept in immaculate condition and the owners are always on hand to sort out any minor problems or concerns. A daily swim in the pool is an absolute must before setting out on the many sightseeing expeditions which are possible provided you enjoy driving, can manage the steep drop into the villa's parking space and have a head for heights along the winding mountain roads! The local village of Carataunas and the nearby town of Orgiva are nothing to write home about but Pampaneira, Bubion and Capileira are, in our opinion, just stunning! The Alhambra in Granada is a MUST SEE. All in all, El Sabuco is a very special place and has left us with many happy memories. Internet access and the daily bread delivery van are added bonuses which means you can stay put if you just want to chill although that is not always possible in August!
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your lovely comments and what a good idea of yours to have a few days in Seville before your stay in El Sabuco and to go on to Cordoba for a few days after, you really got the full flavour of Andalucia.

We have just returned from a fantastic weeks holiday at El Sabuco. The villa is spacious, comfortable, and stylish! What more could you ask for? The views are stunning, your own little bit of heaven. The owners were fabulous, even babysitting and provided a taxi service for us so we could try a night at one of the lovely local villages! The villa is situated near several lovely villages, high in the mountains. As well as the villages we were able to make an easy day trip to Granada. The locals in Alpujarras were very friendly and welcoming. We weren't very keen on Orgivia itself, but there are many other places well worth a visit nearby. We read 'Driving over Lemons by Chris Stewart' before we went and that really helped us get into the right frame of mind for the 'Real Spain'. Our 2 year old daughter was blissfully happy and we found the house and grounds great for a toddler. The pool and garden areas are brilliant. We stayed in several villas in Spain and this one is in a league of its own. Thanks for everything Ann and David, we hope to see you again next year, Jill, Sean and Madison

This property is situated in an area of outstanding beauty, the backdrop of the Sierra Nevada is breathtaking.

All the surrounding hills have a spectacular appeal that attracts both young and old, walkers and mountain bikers alike.

The house is very comfortable with all possible amenities and conveniences. Anne & Dave are caring and professional hosts that help to make your holiday very special.

I thoroughly recommend this holiday villa and location for anyone wishing to have a holiday with a difference and one to remember.

"We have stayed at this villa on several occasions and have never been disappointed, in the accomodation, value for money or surroundings, and even the weather has played it's part with long sunny days regardless of the time of year. Even in the early part of the year when the nights were quite cool we enjoyed sitting around the big log fire in the lounge . When it was hot we particularly liked taking things easy by the pool, sitting on the terrace having breakfast or in the evenings with a cool drink. The accomodation also has four bathrooms / wc's so we could all get ready to go out at the same time and there were no long queues to spend a penny!! There is plenty to do, especially if you enjoy walking or exploring the mountain villages that are to be found in the area, and some of the views were spectacular. And you're not too far from either Granada or the coast if you want a change. Granada and the Alhambra Palace were great. The owners are well aware of the exorbitant prices some holiday rentals charge in the peak season and have earned our respect in keeping the prices the same for all the year round and not ripping parents off by charging too much in the school holidays. All in all we were very happy with our choice of villa and we will visit again as soon as we can."
