Location was great -off the beaten track - surrounded by forest with squirrels and red deer with open view at front to spey river and the Steam train that passes! House was well maintained and had all facilities included. House is close to Boat of Garten, Grantown on Spey and Aviemore.
The Landmark centre is well worth a visit especially if you have kids and also the Highland Wildlife Park.
Only criticism was that the floorboards upstairs creaked a lot which isnt ideal if you want to get up early without disturbing others and the Games room in the garage is only accessible by going outside and it really isnt the sort of place you could sit and relax in- has a pool table in poor condition and table football. But as we didnt use it much it dint affect our enjoyment so would recommend staying there and will probably do so ourselves in the future.

Perfect family base

We travelled to Antighur aiming for a relaxing stay in beautiful surroundings and had a wonderful time - stress melted away as we walked through the front door! The facilities were more than adequate for the number of people the property can accommodate, although perhaps a larger cafetiere would be useful. When we have stayed in self-catering properties in the past, small quantities of such items as milk, butter and bread have been provided (a sort of starter pack). We had stopped in Aviemore to buy some groceries, so the lack of this was not a problem for us, but anyone arriving very late and ill-prepared might be a little disappointed. It was very helpful to have wi fi broadband, although we would have saved some time had there been directions as to how to connect to the router.
Our party comprised three generations but with plenty of space, each of us could do his or her own thing as well as having great fun together. The house is well laid out and very comfortable with lots to do when the weather is not kind or if the aim of one's stay is just to 'chill'. Several of us took advantage of the range of equipment in the garage. There were quite a few very noisy table football matches and much to his delight, my husband managed to beat both of our sons at pool.
We were spoiled for choice in the number and variety of places to visit, terrific walks and very good cafes and restaurants. We could easily have filled up another couple of weeks, so we have a good excuse (if one were needed) for a return visit.
The views from Antighur are stunning and at night, for those of us who live with light pollution, the stars are truly amazing. The wildlife right on the doorstep was endlessly fascinating for us all. Watching deer wandering through the forest only yards from the kitchen window whilst enjoying a cup of tea at 7.30 in the morning was truly memorable. For "southerners" especially, it was very good to see such healthy and energetic red squirrels (how on earth do they get through so many peanuts in such a short time?!).
Our three-year-old grandson (and the older members of our party!) loved the whistles and waves from the steam train. I hope the drivers know how much their cheery response to greetings from those staying at Antighur is appreciated.
We would happily recommend this property to groups of friends and/or families who want to get away from it all, yet retain the option of getting out and about in superb countryside.

Highland Getaway

I have stayed at An Tigh Ur a couple of times and have just returned from a wondeful week with a few friends. We have loved staying in the house but particularly enjoyed this visit as much of the house has been renovated. As well as newly fitted bathrooms the most noticable area is the kitchen which has been completely renovated and now has acces to the new deck out front! A fantastic place for a BBQ with views to the Cairngorms.

We had a great time both in the house and in the surrounding areas. We are keen mountain bikers and An Tigh Ur offers a great base for mountin biking and a host of other outdoor activities.

We spent a couple of days cycling around the rothiemurchus extate which was fantastic and beautiful as is the Dell woods in Nethey Bridge. We also spent a fantastic day white water rafting!

After all that activity, the newly renovated lounge with its widescreen TV and log fire was a welcome retreat for our tired battered bodies!

What an awesome break, I wish I was back there right now rather than in a dingy office! Oh well, at least I can book my next visit.

Perfect base for a highland adventure

We stayed at Antighur for a week in late August, our group consisted of 8 friends in our late 20s. The house was absolutely perfect for our needs, with comfortable bedrooms, a well equipped kitchen, and most importantly loads of comfy seating in the lounge and places for everyone at the dinner table.
The decking and BBQ looked great although the weather wasn't kind enough for us to really try them! The bathrooms were clean and modern, and the steam shower was an added luxury.
The location is perfect, well off the main road and with stunning views across the glen. You can literally walk out of the garden and into the forest for a walk, I couldn't imagine a better place for dog owners (and the gardens are all enclosed too).
There's lots to do in the area, with various estates and adventure/activity places nearby, plus the obligatory whisky trail! All in all the perfect place for a week away, and we wished we could have stayed longer.
Highly recommended for any large group or family, one of the nicest rental properties I've ever stayed in.

Speyside treat

I am delighted to be able to write a short review of Peter and Maggies' wonderful house which has lovely views across the Spey valley towards Nethy Bridge.
The house is very well presented and has a homely feel with everything you need. There is plenty to keep kids [of all ages!] entertained.
The walks in the woods, which lie to the side and behind the house, and those down to the river are all good and easily mangable by all ages.
The added bonus is the Strathspey Steam Railway which passes by less than 100 yards from the front of the house.
Give the driver and passengers a wave and you will always get a toot and a wave back. Excellent.

Fabulous times

My family and I stayed at this fantastic house recently, and a great time was had by all. Its great to come back to a holiday house that the owners are obviously constantly upgrading , the new kitchen and bathrooms look fantastic and the games room was great for a rainy day,and sitting on the deck of an evening having a bbq with a glass of wine whilst looking at the cairngorm mountains is not a usual evening for us. The kids had a great time in the garden and in the forest next door. We went to the Reindeer centre and fed ducks at Loch Morlich whilst having a picnic ourselves. On the sunday morning we wandered over to the heather centre for a great fry up and a slice of clootie dumpling. The preoperty was very clean & tidy. I would definitely recommend this house to anyone who wants a great getaway and escape from the world. Aviemore and Grantown on Spey are very close by for everyday bits and pieces.
