We were very impressed with every aspect of The Owl House. From the moment we arrived we felt right at home with our gracious hosts, Bob and Louise. The home was warm and inviting with every possible amenity available to us. The surrounding area was picturesque with its rolling hills and distant mountain ranges. We would highly recommend this property to anyone who would be fortunate enough to spend time in this area of Italy.
Thank you for making our stay enjoyable and most memorable!

A great location - peace and quiet away from it all with fantasic views in all directions.

A clean and well maintained property that has great original features that help you relax and absorb the atmosphere - the quickest holiday unwind yet ....

The area is stunning with a real mix of things to do and we would recommend a trip up in to mountains as well as the many local historic towns.

Locals are friendly and very helpful from the local garage to the supermarkets language and communication was fun and effective with no embarrsing moments... !

We would return to Casa Gufo which is a rare for us.

We thank Bob & Louise for their help and guidance especially the local restaraunt recomendation (Le Querchi) which was fantastic and the local Winery - for the best 'Bag in a box' we've ever bought!

Una bella ritirata ( A beautiful retreat )

Casa Gufo and its beautiful location is ideal for both exploring this lovely region of Italy and enjoying a lazy relaxing time around the pool and surroundings. The views from the house are spectacular and there are plenty of lovely villages and towns to visit nearby. The Apennine mountain range and a National Park are close by, providing lots of interesting walks and Pescara beach resort is very clean and less than an hour away.
The amenities in the cottage are excellent and the private use of the lovely pool, which was cleaned daily, was an absolute bonus. The cottage is beautifully furnished, clean and cosy, and with plenty of space for clothes etc. Both the welcome pack of food and drink and the information file on the surrounding area and places to visit were very useful. Bob and Louise are wonderful hosts. They are very helpful and accomodating but also discreet and unobtrusive. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will return again. We highly recommend Casa Gufo as a lovely place to stay in Italy. It is ideal for couples and families, for an energetic outdoor holiday or a relax and unwind holiday or a mixture of both!

A Must Try!

Review Submitted: September 24, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
If you are like us, with two very small children, and just want to stop the world and get off then this is the place to do it. The children could run (or crawl) riot in the lovely garden, or explore down the lane to pick tomatoes and figs, sometimes accompanied by Bob and Lou's gorgeous dog. We were fairly unlucky with the weather, which was out of character for early September, but thankfully Casa Gufo was well equipped for us on rainy days.
The views are stunning, with the most amazing sun rises reaching across the mountains and sunsets hitting the pool, ideal to watch with glass in hand.
Bob and Lou completely respected our privacy and didn't seem to blink an eye at the noise the children made which made our lives easy. It was also the small touches that they had done for our arrival which made the difference, a welcome hamper with all the basics and including Casa Gufo's delicious olive oil- plus a well equipped kitchen, toys for the children etc....
Casa Gufo in our opinion is suitable for most holiday makers, whether you just want to laze by the pool, explore the towns or go for amazing walks.
If you go, enjoy!

The facilities are very modern and the accomodation was spotless and the old features of the property really made it feel homely. Views are spectacular of the surrounding villages and mountains and a must to explore!. This property in general is a very tranquil, secluded and beautiful place its typically Itailian in every way!! Will be returning again very soon!

A taste of paradise on earth

If you are looking for a little taste of paradise on earth this is the place to come. The farmhouse is beautiful and furnished to a very high standard, everything we looked for was available. The views are fantastic as is the pool - which we had totally to ourselves. We had complete access to the surrounding land and to the wonderful supply of fruit and veg available - the figs are the sweetest i have ever tasted. Bob & Lou are great, friendly & discreet, generous and with a wealth of local knowledge, on arrival our fridge was stocked with the essentials including a bottle of the local wine - another one was produced for tasting mid week. The property was spotless and the pool area cleaned daily. If you are looking for a romantic, chilled out holiday with a sample of traditional Italy Casa Gufo has it all. I could find nothing negative to say and would highly recommend.

Casa Gufo

Ray & Chrissy London UK
Review Submitted: August 31, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We enjoyed two glorious weeks, at the beginning of August 2009, in this beautiful setting in the foothills of the Apennine mountains. To say that we enjoyed it is something of an under-statement… we loved it! The setting is fabulous, the accommodation delightful: clean, spacious and comfortable with great attention to detail… everything we needed and much that we didn’t, (but might have) was thoughtfully provided. The lovely pool was our main destination almost every day, whether in it or relaxing around it… we really didn’t want to be anywhere else.
Daughter, son-in-law and two year old granddaughter joined us for one week and slept on the sofa-bed in the lounge (+ cot provided by Bob and Lou). All very comfortable and with the portico and additional bathroom on that floor, it didn’t seem in any way crowded or lacking in privacy, in fact it was great to be able to enjoy their company without getting in each other’s way.
We all had a wonderful holiday and Bob & Lou are terrific hosts. They have done a brilliant job in creating such a lovely holiday retreat.
We’re looking forward to a repeat visit.

Ray and Chrissy, London.

A HIDDEN TREASURE

Review Submitted: July 4, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Bob and Louise are fantastic hosts and made us feel very welcome. We arrived late at night to be greeted by Lou who had kindly put togther a food and drink pack which included a much needed bottle of the local wine- A treat in itself!
The house was spotless and is decorated with great attention to detail. It has a very homely feel complimented by the occaisional visit of Bob and Lou's very friendly three cats and lovely dog.The level of equipment and facilities were excellent and all one needs for a holiday stay.
The location of the house is sensational with lovely views. It is close to a national park, a must for visitors who enjoy an "outdoor" experience. It is very tranquil and a great place to escape
We all enjoyed our stay and would gladly return to a really lovely home with two great hosts, both of whom make a mean cup of coffee!

Sophie and Ian's fantastic honeymoon

Review Submitted: June 13, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We arrived at the farmhouse to a really warm welcome from Bob and Lou, who we feel really went out of their way to make us so welcome, greeting us on our arrival with a bottle of local wine as a honeymoon present. we also received a little hamper which included some of Bob's own produce, like olive oils and preserves, (2nd to none!), and were able to help ourselves to the fruit from the cherry trees at the house.
The farmhouse is absolutley stunning and presented to such a high standard. Everything we needed was availaible and although it was very private, Bob and Lou were always on hand if required, to assist with any local information we may have asked. They were very happy to point us in the direction of local restaurants, and give us advice.
The views are stunning and second to none for a relaxing and private hoilday. With the exclusive use of the beautiful swimming pool, we could not have asked for more.
We would not hesitate to recommend this farmhouse as a private getaway, and in fact are returning in October, with our children.
Not only did we have the most fantastic honeymoon, but we now consider we have good friends, in Bob and Lou, who we feel, made it a very special time that we will never forget.
