Great holiday

rcnc Paris, France
Review Submitted: September 9, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Lovely modern apartment; fantastic terrace with barbecue; private parking.

We spent all of our holiday on the beach at Argeles, but had one boat trip up and down the coast. It was very pleasant sitting on the terrace until late, enjoying barbecued dinners after swimming most of the day.

We stopped at Collioure for a few hours before going home - it's a very nice village so we probably should have spent a day there.

Fantastic holiday in a lovely apartment.

What a lovely week we have just had in this clean, well equipped and convenient apartment. When we arrived we were shown around and made to feel very welcome by Yves, the local english speaking contact. We would agree totally with all of the previous reviewers comments about the apartment. It was extremely well equipped and we all (family with 2 children aged 12 and 14) felt 'at home.' We enjoyed exploring the local area, especially the beaches. We had some fantastic meals out and particularly enjoyed the food La Tramuntane and Le Chalut.
I would not hesitiate to recommend this apartment, it makes a perfect base from which you can visit many contrasting places such as the stunning scenery of the Pyrenees to the vibrant city of Barcelona. Alternatively, the accomodation is so comfortable that if you prefer to take things easy you can spend your days lazing on the sun terraces and barbecuing fish from the local market for your evening meal!
Finally, the booking process was extremely efficient. The owner of the apartment was very helpful and responded promptly to any queries we had. Overall. an excellent experience!

Superb Apartment

Benne04 Northamptonshire
Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We booked this apartment at the last minute and were not disappointed! The apartment was clean, well equipped and spacious. Everything was new and to a high standard. The descriptions were all accurate. Wonderful! We loved the wide terraces which could be used any time of day- one evening we barbequed fresh fish bought from the harbour!
The views towards the harbour and hillside were good (although we did overlook the supermarket and there was some noise from passing trains- not a problem!)

We flew with Ryan air to Girona and picked up a hire car, then drove along mainly motorway to Port Vendre - an easy journey taking about an hour and a half. We crammed as much as we could into our week's stay.

We ate out every night except one and the best restaurant we found was the Tramontane in Port Vendre.
Colliourre was beautiful for sight seeing and mooching around. Arrive early to be sure of a parking space. There is a market on a Wednesday.
Best sandy beaches are at Argeles. A gem of a beach can be found nearer at Le Racou.
Perpignan is worth a visit if you want large shops and culture. Girona's old centre is well worth visiting if you have time en route to the airport.
We have no hesitation in recommending this area and in particular this apartment to anyone for a brilliant holiday.

Luxurious comfort in Port Vendres

JuGe Bath
Review Submitted: July 29, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The greatest features are the high level of comfort and the large outside space on the terrace. The apartment was spotless- so pleasant to have everything brand new. We were highly satisfied with the contact with the owner, who was efficient and helpful throughout. We found it very convenient being next door to the Super U supermarket, especially for excellent bread in the mornings ( to our surprise, as we expected it to be inferior to a boulangerie) and a short walk from the superb fish market, open every day until 8.00 p.m. in the summer ( very handy for popping in after a day out). The kitchen facilities in the apartment were excellent, so we could prepare our own meals easily and simply- especially with such a wide choice of fresh ingredients on the doorstep. Eating was such a pleasure on that wonderful terrace! There are some very good restaurants in the area-our favourite was the Ferme-Auberge at the Clos de Paulilles, which is situated in a vineyard. You are given different wines to taste with each course- amazing! ( but get a taxi back!) There are numerous beaches of all types within 15 mins of the apartment. Our favourites were Le Racou at Argelès- a
(course) sandy beach and the rocky coves at Paulilles/Elmes near Banyuls ( good for snorkelling). Within an hour's drive, you can visit the Modern Art Museum at Céret, the perched Cathar castles in the Corbières, hike in the Albères or the Pyrenees, visit Spain and so much more. Port Vendres is not the most charming of towns in the area, as it is a working port. However, it is very well situated for food shopping and has very easy access to the main road for getting about. Collioure is prettier and great to stroll around in the evenings- artists to watch, all sorts of entertainment, but it is a nightmare for traffic and parking- and it can be more expensive. It is only a 40 minute walk along the coast road, so is quite manageable to get to ( or there is the tourist train, boat or taxi). This apartment does have its own parking space in an underground carpark, which is an absolute boon and keeps the car lovely and cool! As we left, it was announced that during the high season, the public car parks in Port Vendres, which were free, were going to charge, so this facility will be an even bigger plus. We would have no hesitation in recommending this apartment and hope very much to return.

Fantastic apartment in a beautiful area of France

Jostein Oslo, Norway
Review Submitted: July 14, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
The apartment is just as great as it looks, no disappointments at all. The whole building is brand new with a stylish and modern look. It's clean, has a modern look and is equipped with just about everything you need, and then some - even has it's own mixed selection of dvd's and cd's available to use. Great BBQ on the lovely balcony. Very friendly and welcoming lady managing the appartment for the owners.

The 2 of us flew in to Marseille and drove for 3 days before arriving at Port Vendres, through Avignon, Carcassonne and Andorra. It's a quite a drive, but with a great and very different scenery. Would particularly recommend the magnificent castle in Carcassonne for those looking for some sightseeing.

Port Vendres itself is not the most exciting town, and the harbour area ruins a bit of the charm, but the rest of the area is really fantastic. Collioure (5 mins north by car) turned out to be our absolute favourite, with its many small streets with shops and restaurants. Don't expect it to be easy to find parking in Collioure though, that can take forever. There are both buses and taxis running in the area.

When it comes to beaches, nothing beats the 7km of sandy beaches starting at Argeles sur Mer (approx 10min by car), but there are smaller, but more rocky, beaches closer to Port Vendres and also further south towards Spain.

Highly recommended if you're looking for a relaxing holiday with great food, wine, sandy beaches and beautiful nature. If you're looking for neonlights and pulsating nightlife, the other end of the French Mediterranian coastline is more likely for you.

Fantastic apartment, very clean, modern and fully equiped. Great location with all you need in walking distance. Breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply drinks on the balcony is pure bliss! An apartment you can spend an entire day of your holiday in and not regret it.

The surrounding area is great, with access to moutains, beaches, and lovely historical towns. A day trip to Barcelona was easily managed.

The pictures are accurate, the property was very clean, and everything you could possibly need was there, including a BBQ! The entire process from the initial contact through booking and arriving was straight forward and pleasant.

We would stay here again, no doubt about it.

Relaxing Escape

Jon 30 Cheltenham
Review Submitted: June 1, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
What a perfect location in a beautiful, authentic little french town. The appartment was beautifully appointed with a well equipped kitchen, lovely balconies, stunning views and great access to the town.

We flew to Perpignon from Birmingham and hired a car - although initially a little baffled by the roads out of the airport we made our way to Port Vendres in less than half an hour. Next time we will probably fly to Girona and drive as I understand the car hire is cheaper and its still only around 2.5hrs from the airport to Port Vendres.

We found the appartment perfect for the two of us, it could easily accommodate two couples and perhaps a younger child on the sofa bed. The second bedroom is a double so worth noting if your a family and children won't sleep together.

There is so much to do in the area, fantastic wine, food and of course beaches. Our favourite beach was in Argeles and the best meal we had was at Le Neptune in Collioure.

I can highly recommend this property and area of France to anyone wishing for a relaxing escape with plenty on the doorstep to keep you entertained.
