Brilliant place to stay for exploring old town

Review Submitted: October 22, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
My husband and I stayed at this charming town house for a week in October 2009 and it is exactly as described. It is finished to a very high standard with a wonderful ambience. The house was very clean and was very well equipped with everything we needed. The owners are very helpful and have put a lot of thought into making this town house extremely comfortable. It also has a lovely courtyard garden and a roof terrace with views over the town. The house is situated a very short distance from the main square of this historic old town and is ideally situated for exploring the miriad of tiny streets leading off. These streets are home to many artists who sell their work in the many interesting shops dotted off the square. The area has many good restaurants so you can have a wonderful night out - just off your doorstep. Just one note of caution for people who may have mobility problems or small children. The house is situated over three floors and the stairs are steep and may present some difficulties. Otherwise this property is perfect and I would highly recommend it. We hope to go back to Altea some day and when we do this will be our perfect location.

Returning to this wonderful house

Review Submitted: October 12, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
I have just returned to this wonderful house for the second time!!! I first stayed here in June and fell so in love with the house, romantic terrace full of exotic plants and the town itself that I decided to return again at the beginning of october. The house is stylefully decorated and very comfortable. The bed and bed linnen are first class. This time I just took some good books, and relaxed. The situation of the house is perfect for strolling in the evening to one of the many good restaurants all within minutes walk and then returning to enjoy a good bottle of wine by candellight on the patio. This is a real hideaway in the centre of the old town. Thank you Sue and Pete once again for making me so welcome. I´ll see you again next year!!

Great place to stay!

The house more than lived up to it's description on Sue and Peter's site as well as those provided in other peoples reviews. It is quiet, but in the centre of things in the Old Town, beautifully laid out and maintained and an extremely comfortable and convenient base in Altea. Local bars and restaurants are right on your (most picturesque) doorstep. Quality of food and service varies from good (most of the restaurants around the Old Church) to excellent (La Perro Negro at the bottom of the hill).

Altea itself is well worth a visit - very photogenic - with a beach that is a mixture of sand and pebbles with great views across to the Rock of Ifach at Calpe. Invest in a pair of beach sandals and you'll enjoy your dip in the Med - without them it's a little uncomfortable underfoot! Altea is also a good base for trips either along the coast or inland to the mountains. The safari park at Aitana is well worth a visit just for the drive!

Back to the house - Sue and Peter have done a great job creating a modern styled interior to an ancient building in one of the most pretty streets in Altea. The rooms are all comfortable and very well appointed and the ground floor patio is a real feature. The rooftop area is also a great place to relax at the end of the day with a glass of whatever takes your fancy.

Sue and Peter also looked after us - whilst not intruding on our holiday. They offered to collect us from the airport and provided advice on parking and restaurants in the town. A very nice couple indeed.

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay (we just got back home today!) and wouldn't hesitate in recommending it as a great base for your holiday to Altea.

Beautiful House

We stayed at the house and were completely charmed, both by the house and Altea. The house was very clean, decorated and furnished to a very high standard and we wanted for nothing. The house is right in the heart of the old town so perfect for all the little bars and restaurants near by. A short walk takes you down to the beach. Definately will go back and certainly recommend to friends and family.

Best of both worlds in Altea

Altea is beautifully situated on the Costa Blanca allowing you the choice of being away from it all or enjoying the many Restaurants, Bars & local Craft Shops for buying or just browsing.
The accomodation was such a surprise - outside it was a charming traditional Spanish house in a quaint cobbled street, but inside it was everything you would hope for. It was very tastefully modernised to a very high standard. To sit on the Patio in the evening & have a bar-b-cue with a bottle of wine was perfect. The Bed was very comfortable with excellent bedlinen and the Bathroon met all our needs more than adequately. I would not hesitate to recommend this beautiful house for a relaxing and enjoyable holiday.

My husband and I stayed in this house in picturesque Altea last Spring. The house is all you would wish for. Very comfortable, very clean and fitted with all modern conveniences. Located in walking distance (minutes away) to squares with terraces, the best restaurants and lovely shops and galleries. Walking down by the steps is easy enough and there you find the boulevard, the beach, the market and so on. Really worthwhile staying.

The house is perfectly situated. It's only 1 minute from one of the most beautiful church squares of the Costa Blanca, with lots of lovely restaurants and bars. Anyway, the whole of Altea is great.
Also to the seafront it's only 5 minutes walking.
We were very impressed by the luxury decoration and comfort.
We will surely come back this year to this wonderful place.
