Fantastic holidays in a really nice apartment

Review Submitted: September 18, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The apartment was excellent. We have rent apartments in Costa Brava for several years and this year we were really happy with the choice of Athenea building. The apartment was completely new, spacious, clean, with nice furniture and fully equipped. We went with two children that enjoyed with the swimming pool, and we loved the proximity to Empuria beaches and to the village (just 2 minutes by car to both locations). The service from the owner was very good. We would strongly recommend this property.

Beautiful L'Escala

We stayed in this apartment for one week in July 2009. The property is spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The description was accurate in the advert. the owners were most helpful throughout and any queries were dealt with without delay. We would certainly recommend this property to our friends. The area is very suitable for young children and teenagers with lots to do for everybody.
The swimming pool was a little small for the number of apartments but the proximity to the beach compensated for this. We found a car to be necessary.

Great Apartment at the best side of L'Escala.

The property and all furniture was brand new when we visited in the first week in August, well furnished and finished apartment, only thing missing was a kettle!! the apartment was really spacious (three bedroom) and the pool was never busy, for long periods we the pool all to ourselves. It is at the best side of L'Escala too, a short walk to the pine tree lined beaches and close to the old town (better than the other more modern tourist trap side of L'Escala) The small village of St Marti Empuries is a short 2 minute drive (or a 30 minute walk) this place is really special with the old village, square and church overlooking the much quieter and cleaner beach, we only wish we had found this beach earlier, our two children (6 and 8 years) loved the gentle slope of the beach. We had our first week right in the centre of Barcelona, which was great but fast paced, so this second week was a welcome chill out for us and the Children.

L'Escala Athena II Aug 2009

Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
The apartment was really spacious, modern, safe and clean. The apartment exceeded our expectations. The apartment was not in the heart of L'Escala beaches and restaurants but the location was ideal for our needs.

The apartment was only a short walk to a couple of good beaches and a couple more beaches were only a short car drive away. The beaches were great - they seemed extremely safe for our children to play in. There was also a good range of sea activities to hire (kayaks, pedalos, etc). In the town there was a fantastic selection and choice of restaurants. It was only a short walk in the evening to the old town with many restaurants.

Booking and payment for the property was straight-forward. Steve met us at the agreed time and showed us round the property and explained all the nearby facilities.

The property was also ideal to make easy car trips to nearby attractions such as the Dali Museum in Figueras, river kayaking and waterparks.

Lovely Holiday in Great Location

This was our first time in L'Escala and we loved everything about it!
The town itself was busy but not crowded. The beaches were so close to apartment, just a 10 minute walk. The restaurants served all different types of food and catered for us all. The apartment was brand new and had everything that we needed. We got a great deal on the price too. Overall we were very happy with L'Escala, the apartment and the service from Leah and Steve. (We arrived late and were met with the keys)

A nice addition to L'Escala accommodation

These new apartments are well located for visitors to L'Escala who don't necessarily want to be on the Riells side of town. As you should expect from a brand new complex, it's been very well finished, and the interior design touches mean that it feels like you're in quite an upmarket space. It's also good that all the accessories are new, although it's odd that some "obvious" items aren't included - you'd have a thought a kettle might have been a good idea?!

It's ideal for a family of two adults and two children, and practical too, with dishwasher, washing machine and tumble drier. Like a lot of two bedroom places, though, it has pretentions to cater for six, with the lounge sofa bed etc. I think that could be stretching it though, as there's only one bathroom/WC - it could be a bit cramped. The development is fine (although the glass surrounds on the balcony are compromised by a large "For Rent" plastic sign); the pool's a tad small, so it gets pretty busy pretty quickly. It's also quite a step into town - maybe 20 mins stroll? - around the headland, but at least you can console yourself that you're earning your tea. All in all, a pretty good place to stay; easy for the supermarket (especially if you like the bargains on offer across the road at the new Lidl), and it's easy for Empuries and the nearby beach. These apartments are worth a whirl as long as you remember your trainers.
