Quinta Falcoes October 2009

Stewart & Brenda United Kingdom
Review Submitted: November 10, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
Quinta Falcoes exceeded all our expectations, well planned accommodation of a very high standard, complimented by fantastics sea views and stunning sunsets.

The heated pool was very very warm, allowing it to be enjoyed well into the evening during October.

With the luxury accommodation and fantastic surroundings we only eat out once making full use of the barbecue, providing a truly relaxing holiday.

Rosa and Gilberto gave us a warm welcome and lots if local information in addition to the well prepared “ Things To Do” folders.

Rooms were clean, light and well dressed with quality soft furnishings on a par with any boutique hotel.

You can either meander from village to village on the back roads or make use of the new network, the nearest large supermarket is in Calheta 15 minutes away, also in Calheta is Centros das Artes (museum of contemporary arts) well worth visit for it’s exhibitions, views and design.

I can only agree with the other reviewers, this is a villa that ticks all the boxes.

We've already book for 2010.
Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your kind words about our home in Madeira - we love holidaying there and are really glad that you enjoyed your stay as well. Thank you also for your compliment about my choice of 'soft furnishings' as I personally chose everything in the house!

We are continuing to explore the island and are adding to the 'things to do' folder as we discover more - our most recent walk started in Encumeada by a lavada taking us through the mountain (in a tunnel) to the rain forest on the north side of the mountain. Virginia x

Super Quinta Falcoes

Everything we hoped for, and more. We were six people in our 50's-80. A really well designed and cared for villa with excellent equipment all very clean and well maintained. The layout provides a light and airy place for a relaxing holiday, leading out to the pool and terrace providing superb views including falcons and buzzards. Very good supply of brochures giving ideas for things to do and see, including nearby restaurants when we did not want to use the barbeque. A car is essential and Funchal is easily reached with its gardens (accessed by cablecar) and shops, etc. Wherever we drove there were
magnificent views both on the coast and inland. We particularly enjoyed the levada walks nearby with beautiful flowers and shady woods. On your return at the end of the day - or at any time - enjoy a leisurely swim, a film or game of table tennis. Certainly to be recommended.

A perfect hideaway on the island of flowers

A wonderful place to calm down from business, to relax in a charming villa on the cliff and to enjoy all the comfortable details like heated pool, cinema room, table tennis and so on.
The beds are made for sweet dreams and the house has so much light and space.
The view is outstanding and we had several perfect sunsets and billions of stars over the Atlantic Ocean.
Jon and Virginia sent tons of information, regarding the house, the surroundings and the Island.
Even during our vacation, they kept in touch with us and the housekeeper always was on our side, when support was needed.
This house is designed for all ages, child friendly and a dream of a home for families and friends.

We can highly recommend Quinta da Falcos and the charming village Faja da Oveljha.
For sure, we come back to Madeira in 2010. We travel around our blue planet since 25 years now. This was the best choice
in more than 30 countries ever.

Thanks and greetings from northern Germany

We had the most wonderful family holiday here. It was so comfortable and well equipped, in an exquisite position. A fabulously secluded spot - but with plenty to get out and do and see. The perfect combination.
Owner's Response: Thank you, we are really glad you enjoyed your stay at our home as much as we enjoy our visits and that you made good use of our 'suggested days out pack'. Our favourite days out include Dolphin Watching and walking the levada from our village to the lighthouse at Ponta da Pargo.

MADEIRAN HOLIDAY 2009

We loved this villa. The views are stunning and it is totally private. The property is spotless and the furnishings are excellent. The peace and quiet was bliss. The only sounds were the falcons circling overhead and the bees buzzing around the flowers. The heated pool is a bonus and we used it every day. The games room is ideal for teenagers with a huge collection of books, DVD's and the table tennis. The nearest supermarket is a 15 minute drive away in Calheta, as is the petrol station. It isn't a huge supermarket but it provides everyday needs. The local baker did a lovely breakfast and was cheap. It's a 5/10 minute drive from the villa. All in all we had a fantastic week but wish we had booked for two!
Owner's Response: Please feel free to book for two weeks next time! Really glad you appreciated the games room - we have two children and the table tennis has provided us with some hilarious 'tournament' evenings.

Next time you are visiting you could try our 'improving' village shop by the church in Faja da Ovelha (2 minute drive) where there is also a local bar providing great beer for 80 cents, overlooking the sea. Glad you found the bakers - best orange cake on the Island which can be ordered in the morning to pick up freshly baked in the afternoon - yummy.

Wonderful Quinta Falcoes

H997 Tunbridge Wells Kent England
Review Submitted: August 21, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
In March 2009 my sister and I stayed at Quinta Falcoes which is a divine dwelling excellently landscaped into the contours of rugged and beautiful volcanic terrain, which without being precipitous, enjoys spectacular ocean views. Quinta Falcoes effervesces with style, panache and luxury leaving you with a desire to return again and again to recapture the aura of wellbeing, peace and tranquility.
To observe dolphins in their natural habitat, to appreciate the profusion of succulent cacti, foliage and the deluge of exotic flowers along with superb views which greet you round every corner; these all make up just part of a catalogue of experiences to enjoy in Madeira.
Don't forget to savour the local vintages at exquisite eateries nestling in extremely unusual locations. As you will gather Quinta Falcoes and Madeira combine to provide a superb holiday vacation. In sum we both loved it.

Wonderful Quinta Falcoes

Hooked on Quinta Falcoes Tunbridge Wells
Review Submitted: July 6, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
Visited last September with my sister and again (six of us)in March/April 2009. This villa was spotlessly clean, is beautifully appointed and truly luxurious while at 1000ft ASL has superb sea views without being precipitous. Weather mainly sunny and warm without being too hot. Levada walking a delight with flowers and birds all around. Local eateries have locally caught fish and mainly inexpensive. Try Espada topped with grilled bananas; yummy.
Driving easy and signing mostly clear; took exactly 50 minutes from the airport and met by G who tends the gardens and is on call in emergency.
Have already booked for September 2009
Owner's Response: During your stay in September why not try 'Espetada' a typical Portuguese dish made of large chunks of beef rubbed in garlic and salt, skewered onto a bay leaf stick and BBQed - O'Tosca in Prazares is well worth a visit as it serves the best Espetada we have found on the Island (book 24 hours in advance) - please see our recommended restaurant guide in the information pack we have sent you.
