September in Florence

mallow London England
Review Submitted: September 30, 2007 Date of Stay: September 2007
My family and I thoroughly enjoyed our fortnight in this lovely, spacious apartment. We thought the photos did not do full justice to it. We loved the river views, and coming back to the cool and tranquillity after the days' sightseeing. The amenities are excellent. It might be useful to list the two hair-dryers, to save future occupants including in luggage.
About 20 minutes walking to old City centre, or to S.Maria Novella, the main centre for rail and bus transport. But there are buses to both just round the corner from the apartment. As a change from the City, an hour's rail journey to Certoldo is well worth it.

We would agree with all the positive statements in the other reviews and reconfirm how pleasant and helpful Lucia was. Having a delicious meal cooked for us on the first evening, after a late arrival at the apartment, was a definite bonus. Throughout our stay nothing was too much trouble and being able to ask questions about opening times of museums etc was very useful. We cannot recommend this apartment highly enough.

FLORENCE FAMILY VACATION

Excellent property and an excellent host, highly recommended. We were an extended family of 9.

This property was well beyond our expectations. This is a well kept and appointed property in a perfect location for visiting Florence.

The hostess Lucia personally ensures that you settle in to her property (met us at the train stn) and provides an orientation of Florence so no vacation time is wasted on details.

A fantastic big and wonderful apartment in a calm area of Florence - with a nice view over Arno.
Nice walk along the Arno-river to the city - about 10 minutes. Nice kitchen for foodmakers.
Lucia is very helpful and a great host. When we come back we´ll stay here again - no doubt.

Ciao!
Johan with family from Sweden.

Lungarno Vespucci apartment, Florence

Blithespirit Durham, UK
Review Submitted: April 15, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
I would fully recommend this apartment to fellow travellers looking for a week's break in Florence. The apartment is right beside the Arno, a short walk away from the main attractions and it is comfortable, attractive, spacious and well-maintained. The owner responded quickly to our enquiries over email, was able to pick us up from the airport and was kind and helpful.

While the price for the week (490 euros, plus about 20 euros for gas costs) was about as much as we would have paid for a hotel, there were definite advantages to staying in the apartment: the extra space made our stay a lot more relaxing, and the option of cooking at the apartment meant it worked out cheaper than if we had been eating out all the time. It was also great to have the option of coming back for a cup of tea inbetween sight-seeing.

A mile from the Ponte Vecchio- a wonderful place

Review Submitted: April 1, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
Our family-seven adults and one infant spanning three generations-just spent a spectacular week in Florence. Although the weather was not perfect Apartment Lungarno was wonderful. There are three large bedrooms each with a large double bed-two of the bedrooms can be made up into twin beds. One of the bedrooms has an anteroom with a single bed in it. There is lots of closet and drawer space, the bed linens and towels were excellent. There are two full tile bathrooms-side by side-one with a shower and one with a tub shower and bidet. There is a washer in one of the bathrooms. There is a drying rack, ironing board and iron, but no clothes dryer. There are two hair dryers.

The kitchen is large with a big table, a modern stove, full refrigerator and dishwasher. There is no microwave. There is lots of cutlery and dishes, serving pieces, pots and pans. One night we had a Tuscan cooking lesson with two instructors and 4 students in the kitchen and there was room for everyone. We had a wonderful meal with antipasti, primi, two choices for secondi and a fantastic tiramisu.

The sitting room/dining room is huge, well appointed and has a view of the Arno river. There is "boom box" to play your own CDs or tapes and there is an eclectic collection of music that comes with the apartment. You need your own cable for an MP3 player. The wonderful old building is located right on the Arno river about a mile downstream from the Ponte Vechio. It has the advantage of being in a very upscale, quiet and safe neighborhood. There is a supermarket nearby, wonderful places to eat within 500 meters, and a huge park for walking just across the street. There is a place to park in the courtyard but be sure you get a small car.

Lucia, the owner and hostess, is wonderful. (She can help arrange for tours or cooking lessons if you wish). She lives next door and assisted us with travel arrangements.

Although a mile walk to the center of town is a small drawback, there is a bus stop a few meters from the front door (the B loop) that will take you downtown and it runs frequently (except Sunday). We found being in a quiet neighborhood a big plus compared to the huge crowds in the city center. We enjoyed our Florentine holiday in large part because of the wonderful accommodation provided by Apartment Lungarno!

A Wonderful Week

Review Submitted: February 18, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2007
My wife and I and another couple stayed for a week and had the most wonderful time in this large, well equipped and nicely appointed apartment. Our hostess, Lucia, and her family were extremely helpful and friendly and contributed greatly to a most enjoyable time. The location is great and peaceful and it was a pleasure of an evening to stroll along the Arno as the sunset. Many restaurants are close by and we really enjoyed just roaming the back streets and shops on the opposite bank. We have already booked our return. Peter and Glenys Australia

Wonderful

Review Submitted: January 30, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2007
I stayed here with 8 girl friends for my 40th birthday celebrations and it was absolutely perfect.

There was lots of room for all of us. The location is great. Our host could not have been more helpful.

I would go back and stay here any time, with my children, parents, anyone.

The culture and food in Florence were 2nd to none.
