A mile from the Ponte Vecchio- a wonderful place

Our family-seven adults and one infant spanning three generations-just spent a spectacular week in Florence. Although the weather was not perfect Apartment Lungarno was wonderful. There are three large bedrooms each with a large double bed-two of the bedrooms can be made up into twin beds. One of the bedrooms has an anteroom with a single bed in it. There is lots of closet and drawer space, the bed linens and towels were excellent. There are two full tile bathrooms-side by side-one with a shower and one with a tub shower and bidet. There is a washer in one of the bathrooms. There is a drying rack, ironing board and iron, but no clothes dryer. There are two hair dryers.
The kitchen is large with a big table, a modern stove, full refrigerator and dishwasher. There is no microwave. There is lots of cutlery and dishes, serving pieces, pots and pans. One night we had a Tuscan cooking lesson with two instructors and 4 students in the kitchen and there was room for everyone. We had a wonderful meal with antipasti, primi, two choices for secondi and a fantastic tiramisu.
The sitting room/dining room is huge, well appointed and has a view of the Arno river. There is "boom box" to play your own CDs or tapes and there is an eclectic collection of music that comes with the apartment. You need your own cable for an MP3 player. The wonderful old building is located right on the Arno river about a mile downstream from the Ponte Vechio. It has the advantage of being in a very upscale, quiet and safe neighborhood. There is a supermarket nearby, wonderful places to eat within 500 meters, and a huge park for walking just across the street. There is a place to park in the courtyard but be sure you get a small car.
Lucia, the owner and hostess, is wonderful. (She can help arrange for tours or cooking lessons if you wish). She lives next door and assisted us with travel arrangements.
Although a mile walk to the center of town is a small drawback, there is a bus stop a few meters from the front door (the B loop) that will take you downtown and it runs frequently (except Sunday). We found being in a quiet neighborhood a big plus compared to the huge crowds in the city center. We enjoyed our Florentine holiday in large part because of the wonderful accommodation provided by Apartment Lungarno!
