An account of the Old Counthouse

The Old Counthouse is every bit as idyllic as described. The cottage was very clean, comfortable, extremely well appointed and tastefully decorated. We particularly liked the paintings by local artists, so much so, we sought out the galleries to buy our own permanent souvenirs of a delightful holiday. My sister and I are interested in industrial heritage, so there was much to see and enjoy in and around Creegbrawse but it was also an excellent touring base. We could have filled our entire week just with visits to English Heritage and National Trust properties – as we are both members, we didn’t have to pay to get in at any of them. The money “saved” soon went on delicious cream teas! We made the most of the glorious weather by driving far and wide but we always looked forward to getting back to Creegbrawse to relax in the pretty garden. There was a wide choice of books, games and DVDs in the cottage if we had wanted to stay in. Similarly, although there were several pubs serving good food within a few minutes’ drive, the cottage kitchen was very well equipped when we chose to eat in. Our breakfast highlight was scrambled eggs from the Creegbrawse chickens. Liz and David could not have been kinder – they were never obtrusive but always willing to answer questions and make helpful suggestions. We would thoroughly recommend The Old Counthouse to anyone wanting a quiet, comfortable place to relax and unwind.
