MODERN APPARTMENT WITH BEAUTIFUL SEA VIEWS.

DAVID AND JULIE YORKSHIRE, ENGLAND
Review Submitted: July 28, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
My partner and I have just spent a wonderful week in Collioure at L'Oreneta. The property was in a quiet location and exactly as described. John was very helpful and we would be happy to recommend this apartment to anyone. The apartment is compact and well equipped and was clean on arrival. Although listed as Collioure, and within the town boundary, it is a good walk into the town and in fact nearer to Port Vendres. We didn’t have a car and walked everywhere, which was very enjoyable for us. Taxis are pretty well non existent. The local bus service along the coast to Perpignan through Argeles is a real bargain at one Euro per person. We slept in the lounge on the sofa bed most nights, as it was so hot.... and listening to the sea lapping outside was a real treat. There is an abundance of restaurants in both towns, so you will not be spoilt for choice and there is a supermarket 5 minutes walk away towards Port Vendres. The whole area is very pretty and the sunsets are stunning. Both towns have their own charm and beauty. If there is a negative point, then we missed having a toaster from the otherwise well stocked kitchen... and Julie (who is always accident prone) managed to get stung by a jellyfish whilst swimming! Otherwise it was a wonderful holiday. Thank you!

Owner's Response: We work hard to provide a good service and a comfortable apartment. The best news we can get is when our guests enjoy their holiday in L`Oreneta. Next year we will provide a list of local taxi companies in the apartment. Neither Collioure nor Port Vendres has a taxi rank. It is worth knowing that local buses in Pyrenees Orientale all cost 1 Euro - a real bargain. Bus timetables can be obtained from Collioure or Port Vendres Tourist Information Offices(Syndicat d`Initiative).

Collioure in August 2009

Review Submitted: August 23, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Two of us have just spent a wonderfully relaxing week in this pleasant apartment. The apartment was clean and tidy and is ideal for couples, or for those with a small child, but would be a bit cramped for larger families - however, with the marvellous scenery, beaches and surrounding villages every visitor would want to be out and about rather than sat inside. With full sunsets over Collioure, the view from the balcony can be stunning. There are some excellent restaurants in the surrounding towns, although the most popular can become very busy at times. The restaurant at Clos de Paulilles is an absolute must for anyone interested in food and wine - 5 courses, each served with a glass of the vineyard's own wine in a relaxed atmosphere. Booking is essential. Care needs to be taken if relying on the local bus services, since they do not run on fiesta days and they don't advertise which are the actual fiesta days. When they do run, they are quite reliable and only cost one euro whatever the distance. Thankfully we didn't hire a car, managing to get around whether on the buses or, more frequently, by taking gentle ambles from town to town. The weather was perfect, which helped result in an excellent holiday.

One week's holiday in July 2009

Review Submitted: August 4, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We were disappointed in the apartment. It is advertised for sleeping 4 but really only adequate for 2 people as so small and lacking in storage space. The apartment was clean but the balcony was a huge let down as had a solid wall all around it and two old blankets on bench type chairs - very uncomfortable. The balcony was very tatty with rust marks and peeling paint and felt very closed in. The view was only visable if you stood up! The apartment was advertised as luxury - the shower was definitely good but the rest of the apartment very average. There was no electric kettle or toaster and no oven apart from a microwave.

Owner's Response: We are sorry that these guests did not like the apartment. It is however, exactly as advertised. It is a compact one bedroom apartment and fine for two people but it can sleep four if need be. The enclosed balcony is as shown on the photos. It is maintained and painted by the management company and was last refurbished in 2008. The paintwork is in good condition. The teak bench seats are good quality outdoor furniture and are oiled regularly. The seat covers are specially made for removal for laundering and are certainly not old blankets. The apartment has been largely furnished from IKEA in a modern, functional style, as shown in the photos. The electrical appliances present are as advertised. The description and photos are accurately portrayed so that our guests can arrive to find an appartment exactly as advertised.

The apartment is quite nice. We were two persons. With more than two, we thing it well be a little closely. With one little child it may be will be ok.
We spend 14 lovely days there.
The view from the balcony is great. We miss this view since we're at home in germany. You can reach Collioure and Port Vendres by foot easly. It was everyday an great experience, with an amazing view to the sea, to walk along the coast.
Collioure is a beautiful little city with pictorial lanes.

Owner's Response: It was a pleasure to know that our German guests found the apartment comfortable and enjoyed their holiday. We work hard to provide a good service and 5 stars is the best news we can get.

Lovely apartment;fabulous seaviews;gorgeous place

Family Langford London, England
Review Submitted: February 18, 2009 Date of Stay: January 2009
What a lovely appartment! My husband and I, and our 8 month old baby really enjoyed staying there. Firstly, a few practical things about L'Oreneta - It had everything we needed and was clean and well organised (a must with our baby crawling around!). Our baby slept well in the travel cot (provided) in the bedroom and with the kitchen tucked away the front room overlooking the sea was comfortable for us too. The balcony was the scene for very relaxing evenings watching the waves and twinkling lights on the horizon, and sampling the lovely local wines. Very relaxing! I would have no hesitation in recommending the apartment to someone with a baby. The whole area is very buggy friendly!

Secondly, we must recommend one or two local eateries, of which there are loads in both Collioure and Port Vendres, where we had some lovely lunches. I can't remember all the names but 3 of note are - Le Chalut and La Tramontane in Port Vendres, L'Amphitron in Collioure. The fish market is a must for buying fish and shell fish, but also for the 'degustation' area in the middle of the market. There's a great boulangerie about 10 mins walk away just as you are getting into Port Vendre (just past the super handy supermarket). We barely used the car the whole time we were there.

Highly recommended!

Owner's Response: We work hard to ensure our guests have good accommodation on this beautiful coast. Nothing pleases us more than when our guests have a good holiday in L`Oreneta.

We enjoyed a great holidayin 50612. It was good to arrive and findthe aparetment really clean and welcoming. We ahve stayed in many holiday apartments and this is one of the best. The quality of what is provided is really good and the IKEA kitchen is so much better than what you usually find. Though we did spoil ourselves by making use of the restaurants on the recommendations list. The photos do not do the apartment justiceand we just sat and gazed at the panorama from the terrace, a photographers paradise. We enjoyed ouir short walks into Collioure and Port Vendres and got thoroughly spoiled at Port Vendres fish market on oysters and white wine. Now we are back home we are really going to miss not going to sleep to the sound of the sea on the rocks and beach below. Great holiday, fantastic value - thanks! We'll be back.

We have over 20 years experience of gite and apartment rentals in France, all shapes and sizes and in all areas of the country with parties from 2 up to 6. Your apartment was absolutely as you described it and if anything better than expectations. It was plenty big enough for two, not using the sofa bed in the living room left a good sized living space, although we tended to spend most of our time on the balcony, for obvious reasons. The kitchen was the first of its kind we had come across and we thought it was a brilliant idea. When open it had everything needed and it was great to be able to shut it all away leaving a pleasant sitting room. The standard of decor and equipment was certainly higher than the average gite/apartment holiday rental. Everything was clean and ready for our arrival, the information provided for the apartment and estate more than adequate and the additional information on places to go and things to see abundant. In all it was a beautiful apartment in a beautiful part of France with a breathtaking view and a very comfortably furnished balcony to enjoy it.

disappointing

Review Submitted: July 1, 2008 Date of Stay: March 2008
We found the apartment much smaller than depicted and described. The "kitchen" which could be "separated from the living room" is merely a hob, sink and microwave behind a cupboard door. Cleanliness is an issue. We left the apartment considerably cleaner than we found it. It would have been more welcoming if the bed had been made up in the bedroom rather than looking like a storage area. Television is pointless as there appeared to be no reception of any channel.
Recommended for:  Tourists without a Car
Owner's Response: The apartment is small. The ad. makes it clear that it has one bedroom and two sleeping spaces on the sofa bed in the salon. It is fine for two adults or a young family. The photos are recent and depict it accurately. The kitchen is a purpose built IKEA (type VARDE) kitchen designed for small apartments with stainless steel interior housing a sink, ceramic hob, combination microwave oven, fridge and storage space. The unit is designed to enclose the kitchen when not in use and so free the salon space. The clients were correct about: (1) the TV. The aerial had become detached from the rear of the set, though both Video and DVD players were working normally and: (2) the double bed was not made up on arrival. We are sorry about this problem which has been rectified. Our housekeeper is clear that the apartment was thoroughly cleaned before the guests arrived though we recognise that in the important matter of cleanliness, there is always room for improvement. We shall try harder. Client information asks our guests to contact our housekeeper, who is on site, if they have any concerns or problems regarding the apartment on arrival or during their stay.

fantastic location right in the middle of collioure and port vendres - however walking you are nearer to port vendres - but great to walk into collioure of an evening - great views from the apartment the sea could not be closer - shame about the cleanliness however - could have been better - i would also recommend the apartment for 2 people as 4 would be a very tight squeeze
