My fourth time in Montepulciano...

Review Submitted: June 18, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Elisa,
I can't thank you enough. Your apartment is charming, well appointed and the location excellent. From the day I made the reservations until our last day there, we were very satisfied. You provided all that was needed and more. The experience exceeded my expectations. This was my fourth time in Montepulciano and I always look forward to going back. I love your place, it is my favorite place to stay while there. I will return to your apartment on my next trip!
Grazie, Grazie,
Sandra

Wonderful stay, food, wine and landscapes!

We have had a wonderful time, without any problems, although trying to translate Italian parking iconography is not easy. Valeria recommended Trattoria Evoe' o Trattoria di Cagnano. Both it and the Osteria del Conte we found extremely good. The best (although more expensive) restaurant is La Grotta at bottom of the hill (San Biagio).
We have been as far as Perugia and Assisi as well as exploring the villages nearby, and only Pienza is a disappointment, not for the views which are wonderful but the coach loads of tourist are awful (c.f. Assisi).
The shops on the Corso are really pleasant and the Caffe' Poliziano is a joy - we have breakfast there every morning. Of all the shops selling wine, Cantina del Redi is one of the best - most of the others, especially those that are not the center of a grower, stock a wide range but are a bit exploitative.
The market by the bus station on Thursday morning was great!

Great experience!

Review Submitted: May 12, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
The apartment is beautiful and very well located. We two enjoyed Montepulciano - it was the highlight of our visit - and we had already been to Rome, Venice and Lake of Como.
For future guest:
1) there is a shuttle bus - servizio urbano - that can be used to move you around Montepulciano and to the bus station. There is a stop just up the street but we caught it at Piazza Grande. The first one arrives at 07.45. I don't know at what time it stops. Tickets can be purchased at bus station or tobacco shops (0.95 $/bt).
2) There is a lovely grocery store near the bus station and just past the round about (looking down at the bus stop it's on the left). Of course, also a lot of specialty shopping in town.
Anyway, great place. Will certainly recommend to others.
Ciao!
Chris & Pat

Montepulciano and its views: how lovely surprise!

Dan & J Bedford, UK
Review Submitted: May 4, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2008
Thank you to letting us use this wonderful apartment, so full of character, cosy and centrally located. We loved Montepulciano and had to stop every minute to enjoy the views! Thanks also for your "welcome" information on the town and the surrounding villages - we visited all of them and not one disappointed us. Our highlights were having a coffee at Monticchiello and admiring the beautiful landscapes from Montalcino (we almost gave this town a miss and were glad we didn't) We didn't enjoy Siena as much as we thought we would and wished we had enjoyed the smaller towns on our lost day. We struggled to find the car park on arrival but that is because we stupidly thought the road up to it was one way from the Church!! After a day we were easily used to the small roads! Thank Mrs Meldolesi for giving us a little back to our car and for showing us around! We had no idea how beautiful Montepulciano and its views are until we arrived and this was a lovely surprise. We finally have to mention that there are plenty of bars and restaurants where you can enjoy a very good Tuscan food!
From a very happy and relaxed,
D & J

The apartment is lovely, well located and well equipped.
Again thank you so much and hope to come again soon in the future!

a lovely walled town...

Review Submitted: August 26, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
Montepulciano is a lovely walled town, well served by public transport and great place to take a break whilst exploring Tuscany. The apartment was fine for two- comfortable and well equipped. Just outside, down the steps was a green area over looking the valley where we spent a couple of lazy afternoons. Great restaurants and of course wine shops

wonderful memories to treasure...

Review Submitted: August 25, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a magnificent time in Montepulciano, our best ever holiday in Italy. We have been using the holiday rentals site for many years now...the apartment was just perfect, located on the edge of town, very quiet and a stones throw from San Biagio, one of the most beautiful and relaxing places in the whole of Tuscany, where we spent many an afternoon just relaxing, reading and even painting! The apartment is very well furnished and cleverly designed, easily accommodating the three of us and with all mod cons including a dishwasher!.
The town has a lot to offer, the restaurants were great, especially La Grotta where we had a very memorable meal. Piano music from the music school could be heard at various times during the day, and just made the whole experience even more special. We visited many of the other towns and villages, Montalcino, Pienza, Bagno Vignoni, Cortona, all of which were beautiful....Montepulciano however, was by far our favorite and we were so pleased that we chose it as our base. Even though it was in peak season, the town was never too busy, and the locals were wonderfully helpful and friendly. We had a wonderful holiday, and thank you Elisa for allowing us the use of your home...it was perfect in every way...we did get rid of the numerous bottles of Rosso and Vino Nobile from the various Cantina's, all of which were memorable, including one from Casanova! We will hopefully return to Montepulciano and will definitely use the apartment when we do...thank you so much, we have many wonderful memories to treasure...

Delightful stay in Montepulciano & Tuscany

Gerry & Denyse Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada
Review Submitted: June 10, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2008
We had a most delightful stay in this apartment. We enjoyed the week immensly. Somehow, we lost the directions, however, we ran into a man who knew the Meldolesi family & he was able to comunicate with them & we were all set. How lucky is that!!
The town is great & we did a lot of exploring from our base. We did most of what there was in the book that Elisa sent us before our departure from Canada & went as far south as Orvieto & sampled(bought) some great white wines.
The food in many of the restaurants down the hill was really great & the people were amazing!!

Many thanks again!
Gerry & Denyse

Great memories!

The apartment was charming with lots of very personal touches, including some wonderful books on art. The family were hugely supportive and helpful as we had not got the address when we arrived. Our mistake! Montepulchiano was a delightful base for touring and a pleasure to visit. We highly recommend the restaurant at the bottom of the hill opposite the basilica for that special meal. Tuscany has lots to offer and we have lots of good memories!
