Excellant Self Catering Accomadation

Hosier Family Hemel Hempstead
Review Submitted: October 5, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
My wife and I together with our Daughter & her Fiancé used the villa from 19th Sept until 3rd Oct 2009. Everything was just has stated. The villa was clean and very functional with everything anybody would need on a self catering holiday.
A car I would say is essential, too hot to walk during the day and too dark at night if you want to go to correjo. Local supermarket, Shooters sports bar and a Cafe / Restaurant is in view of the villa and a 2 minute walk all English speaking.
Any comments about the pool being small are unfounded, it is excellent for cooling down and playing in. The during our stay wasn't heated but using the pool cover ensured the temperature stayed at very respectful 28 Deg.
Thank you Gary for the use of your villa I would certainly recommend it to all my friends, and thanks to Dave and Marion the Agents for everything, I had to use a local dentist during my stay and there assistance and advice proved very helpful.
If any future hirers would like to contact me I will be happy to offer any further information that I can. Thanks again
Owner's Response: Thank you, its nice to see that some people see things for how they are, i cant please everyone but feel the villa does offer everything that is required to enjoy a relaxing holiday. I hide nothing in the advert, its states that the pool is small and that it is unheated from mid july to mid oct yet i still get comments complaining that the pool is unheated during this period, i also recommend a car on the advert, i agree, its only a 5min drive into town and the main beaches but i would not walk it myself, i get the bus in sometimes and taxi home, so easy. Hope you used the BBQ during your stay its Fab, ha ... i will be over at the end of the month so if you can think of anything that may need sorting out, please just let me know..

We had a fantastic holiday and the villa was very satisfactory and homely. We were very pleased that it was as the description and most importantly clean. We hadn't envisaged the pool being very large so it didn't come as any surprise to us that it was rather small, it suited our needs perfectly and we got lots of use out of it, however it might be useful to others to know the exact dimensions so there is no misunderstanding.

We did encounter a few problems at the outset however, firstly that there was a definite knack to opening the door which would have been helpful if communicated to us prior to our arrival as we arrived hot and tired and could not gain entry! Secondly the washing machine was out of action, not a problem really in itself although we were relying on it and had bought minimal clothes. We were informed by Marion and Dave that Gary did know about this and should have informed us prior to our arrival. If we had of known about it we could have allowed for it! Gary's response was it wasn't his fault when I telephoned him! I did find his manner rather unfriendly which was a shame as we had always had good communication beforehand via emails. Arrangements were made for us to use the washing machine 2 doors down for 3 days until occupied which was fine and then to 'share' with next door which proved a bit awkward.

I had expected to 'find' a folder of information, instructions for the oven for a start and leaflets for the area which I later found at the back of a cupboard. When we have rented privately before owners tend to compile a folder of useful information.

The location is rather further than 'a few minutes' (to quote) from Corralejo so we had to taxi it which proved costly so location should be made clear in the advertisement.

All in all a fab holiday, brilliant location and a villa you should be very proud of. Thank you.

Gorgeous Villa

bensteve London
Review Submitted: April 27, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
My friend and I spent a week at this villa over the Easter holidays 09 and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. However, there are several points that we feel should be adressed; there was poor communication from the outset with the owner which could have been alleviated with regular correspndance. This was dealt with but left us somewhat discouraged. In addition on our arrival the management company had not been informed of our arrival and we had to wait some time for the villa to be cleaned. The villa is spacious and well-maintained but the pool is rather small and therefore did not allow for swimming. The location of the villa is fine, it is somewhat further out form the centre of town than anticipated but this allowed for peace and quiet. However at approximately 3miles a car is a definite requirement. Fellow travellers are reminded that written confirmation is a must for any money transaction and this includes a villa rental...enjoy
Owner's Response: Hi, Thank you for your review, i am sorry we had bad comunication during your booking period, unfortuantly we had a period where our home pc had died on us, this meant i had to wait until i had office time to reply to you. All id fixed at home now so this should not be a problem. Yes we do recomend a car in our advert as it is three K outside of the main high street, the pool is small and heated but its for cooling off, kids seem to love it too

not the perfect place

Review Submitted: March 30, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
We stayed in this villa for two weeks after reading the reviews we where looking forward to staying there and must say that we were not pleased with it, The bedrooms was damp the master room was so bad we had to sleep in the twin room it stunk and you could see it on the walls the villa was not very clean when we got there neither was the pool someone was sent out but after having it cleaned the water did not get worm and with in a day it was dirty again the cover needs replacing the backing is coming off and you get a lot of plastic bits in the pool There were a couple more points for example rusty towel rails bath mats look dirty We were very disappointed with the villa we have stayed at many villas in La Capellania and we have never had to comment on the cleaning before I don’t like to complain but I don’t think that we got value for money. i would not recommend this villa to my friends
Fuerteventura is nice place hire a car so you can go all round the Islands
Owner's Response: Hello, thank you for your comments,

I have taken some of your comments on board and already taken care of the problems.

I must say i think your comments are a little over the top, First of all the villa is cleaned on the day of your arrival, you know this because the cleaner was at the villa when you arrived, after she left you said you were able to gather half of a dust pan of dust and fluff of the tiled floor, our property manager is on hand and could have been informed. You commented on the pool, you say it was cleaned infront of you but dirty again the next day ? The pool is not cleaned daily but is chemically ballanced and therfore it is clean, floating bebris after use does not mean that the pool is dirty as it is free from germs.
Thank you for pointing out that the pool cover is peeling, we have instructed a replacement due to your comments. After a bad wet winter and i was made aware of some mill dew under the window area, this has now been scrubbed with bleach and re painted, i was sent a photo from my property manager before it was repaired and i assure you it was nothing to worry about, i have not had any other reports from clients of any concern apart from your own. Thank you for your comments on the toilet holder and towel holder, they will be replaced in August when i return to choose new ones, they have aged i agree. Finally the pool heating, i will comment on this again, The pool is heated to 25 to 27 degrees, it may drop a deg at cooler times but automatically comes on and works to bring it back to its set temp. I assure all of this. The problem with advertising a heated pool is that some clients are expecting to step into a Jacuzzi, To heat a pool above these sort of temperatures would not be good and breed germs. I assure you that if you stepped into an unheated pool you would jump out straight away, please clients, climb into the pool and allow your body to sync with the pool temp and you will find it very warm, not hot.
This is our first bad review and seems to be completely out of character to our other reviews. I had an e mail last night from a client which has just returned and they said they had a fab time and please relay a credit to my staff, i have asked them to place a comment on a review for all to see. Thank you, Gary

Great Place to stay

Ophélie Dublin
Review Submitted: December 29, 2008 Date of Stay: December 2008
- Location: As noticed in the property detail, in order to travel you will need to rent a car. Really cheap price for a week (around 100€). Good spot to stay home, because this is cooler, a bit more windy than in the city.

- Flat: good atmosphere, cosy, clean, useful. Everything was perfect. This is funny to say it, but the first night we were cold (we are living in dublin). So we called the person in charge of managing the villa, fews hours after, blankets were there. Thanks!

- Weather: pretty coldish during the winter period (only one month and an half time). The local people explained that it was the first year, that the temperature was so low.
Dont be scared, this is still a nice weather and warm!

- People, really nice, small island, not big infrastructure, fews activities.

- Places to recommand :
- local restaurant: avenida
- both quad company in the main street, Quad experience... many trips for cheap, quad or buggies...
- bars: José Segura Torres Street...
Fresh place, Citrus ( shops around aswell)

I'd recommand this trip for both family or friend trip, everybody can find their activities. Anybody can go, young older..anybody.
Furthermore, this flat is a good place to stay in. Good service, nice people, nice owner.

Enjoy your holidays!

PS: We have been lucky, we jumped on a french couple the first night who lives there for 2 years. Therefore, they told us where to go.
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words, happy new year to you and keep well.

Great place to stay and de-stress

Thanks Gary for offering such a fabulous, clean, comfortable villa to stay in. We found the location ideal for our needs being only 4 kms from Correlejo and a short drive to El Cotillo. It was also perfect for exploring the interior if, like us, you stay when the island is shrouded in cloud making beach days impossible (don't worry, we still had at least 2 hours a day of very hot sunshine so still got a tan). There is a very handy local (cheap) supermarket 2 mins stroll away along with bars and restaurants nearby. There is also a regular bus into Correlejo if you wanted to have a few drinkies, and the taxi's are pretty cheap too.
We have had numerous trips to Fuerteventura and usually stay in hotels. After having the freedom of a villa we shall certainly do this again in future. We'll be back!!!!!!
Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments its very kind of you to take the time to place a review on the site. Now your back home i want to wish you a happy christmas and an even better new year...

Thanks again

Great Villa - Great Location

Review Submitted: November 19, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
We had a really enjoyable stay, with the villa ofering everything you need. The lounge and kitchen areas were particulary large for a two bedroom villa, and the outdoor space was very clean and well kept. There is a really handy well priced supermarket and bars which are just a couple of minutes walk from the villa.
A car is not a must though a great advantage. Car hire is so reasonable it is well worth getting. It is about 3K from the town of Correlejo and roughly 5-10mins to get to the beautiful beaches. Which have amazing clear water and fantastic sand dunes. A must! The villa is great for being away from the town, though really handy if you wish to be in town or at the beach. The car gives you extra flexability to come and go as you please.
We also found a really nice restaurant we went to on a couple of occasions, the food was great and the service was fantastic. Sotavento is on the sea front down near the old town, very nice.
Owner's Response: Thank you Caroline for your comments, i am glad you enjoyed your stay and our second home.

Take care

Our stay November 2008

E&D England
Review Submitted: November 16, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
Hi Gary

We wanted to write a review as we always find it helpful reading other peoples reviews when choosing holidays.

Overall we thought the villa was lovely, a nice size, nice and clean and with most mod cons that you would need on holiday. Kitchen equipment was very good and would allow guests to stay in a cook at the villa if they wanted to.
There were a couple of points that we wanted to comment on which could have been either better or could have been more accurately described in the ad.
The SKY tv didn't actually work, which normally doesn't matter to us on holiday but as went in November and there were a couple of chilly evenings it would have been nice if the SKY had worked as we had expected.
The BBQ couldn't actually be used as a BBQ- it looked very old and was rusty with no kind of rack. We ended up buying disposable BBQ's instead. Again, it's not a major issue but was something that we were expecting as it was advertised.
Finally, the heated pool at the villa didn't feel as though it was very warm at all - however we only know from dipping our hands in the water. The pool was not cleaned at all for the whole week we were there which meant there was some debris at the bottom of the pool. We were very disappointed with this as a heated pool is one of the main things we were looking for in our choice of villa, and we didn't get to use it at all during our stay. Although the price of the villa was very reasonable indeed there was other accommodation we could have stayed at without a pool for a lesser price - we didn't mind paying a little extra for a pool but were disappointed that we couldn't use it.

I would recommend (as you do in the ad) that guests hire a car. The location of the villa is good (only 10 mins from the town and a bit further to the sand dunes), however it is much easier to get around having a car and we were glad we decided to hire one.

We would like to say that the people you have looking after the villa are very helpful, we had some issues on arrival (which were NOT related the villa in any way) -and they were more than helpful. It is nice to have an English contact for peace of mind when renting private accommodation.

For a relaxing break away the villa is ideal and Fuerteventura has a nice feel about it, so overall we enjoyed our stay.

Kind Regards
Emma & Daniel
Owner's Response: Hello, thank you for your review... i would like to comment on some of your points and hope that it will ease peoples expectaions who visit our villa in the future.

I would agree that the BBQ needs an update and this is to be done on my visit in December, it seems to have had lots of use and people do not always report things to me when they break things or loose things in the villa, i had no idea that the top grill was missing as it was all together when i was there in sept. The pool is cleaned once per week, often on the morning of your arrival so on a one week stay you will not see the cleaner again, Fuerteventura is a very breezy and sandy place and we are unable to provide cleaning daily without passing this cost onto the client.

The pool is heated on a thermostat, the temp is set at around 25 deg. Depending on the time of the year it would be a little cooler in the morning as the heater works to bring the pool up to its set temp, the temp with move up and down during the day as the cover is left off during use, it will cool a couple of deg then the heating will kick in and bring it back to the set temp of 25 deg, i assure you that if you get into a pool that has no heating you would know about it quickly, I think that all pool water would feel cold until you get fully into the pool, you will quickly find that the temp is very warm after your body has adjusted in a couple of minutes and you will not want to leave. I have checked with Marion my property manager and i have been assured that the sky tv does work as she checked it this morning, it is a family package without ITV 1 and BBC1 as you can not obtain these channels in the canary islands through sky astra, i also get frustrated that these channels are not broadcasted and i know that its hard to understand, should any client wish to pay for an upgrade on there visit i can upgrade the package for there arrival at the cost of a 1 month upgrade.

I do hope that i have provided answers to your kind comments and explained things a little clearer for you.

Thank you again

Take care

Lovely Villa - Great Value for money

Review Submitted: August 1, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
We really enjoyed our week in this villa. The villa is really well equiped and the pool area was lovely, the bbq was great. A car is definately required as recommended but its location is good as a base for getting to both corallejo and El Cotillo easily and there is a really good supermarket within walking distance. Great value for money.

Review Submitted: July 17, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Hi,

We have been there for 7 days with 6 persons and had a really good stay in the villa. Everything is nice and clean and it is big enough for at least 6persons.

When I return to fuerteventura I would defenitely stay here again.
One minor thing, it is situated at 3km. from the city center and to go there you will need a car (or bike).

Best regards Roland (Holland)
Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind comments, Yes i agree we do recommend a car in the advert, or to take the bus or taxi into the town. But if the villa was right intown then you would not get a quite surrounding which is what villa holidays are all about., i feel relaxed when i am at the house but know i am only 4 mins from the town in the car. Its very hard to get it all without paying a large premium i would say. Thank you again and look forward to you using the villa again in the future.

Gary
