What an excellent choice we made.

23rd Sept to 7th October 2008

Just returned from one of the best holidays ever. The peaceful resort of Praia da Luz is thoroughly recommended if you need a relaxing holiday. We found the local people friendly and helpful.

The house was well maintained and comfortably furnished, it lacked nothing from the air-conditioning to the stock of DVDs and games to watch and play on the very rare wet day. The gardens and large pool are of a very high standard and beautifully clean. Compared to other properties we looked at it was very good value for money. It exceeded our expectations and the pictures on the website did not do it justice.

The kitchen was very well equipped with everything you could need to cook the most sophisticated meal, or you can eat out at dozens of restaurants and bars down near the beach which serve every kind of food that you might fancy from English, Indian, Chinese and African. There is even an English and Irish pub.

The beach itself is beautiful, overlooked by the Black Rock and surrounded by blue sea. Sit at an outside café, watch the many water sports, or just enjoy the sunshine.

Lagos was well worth a visit with its busy marina and shops - an opportunity for rides to watch dolphins or deep sea fishing.

The small surrounding villages were also very beautiful.

Finally, the English manager Chris was worth his weight in gold - especially when we locked ourselves out. It was very reassuring knowing we could phone a number and speak to a fellow Englishman.

All in all the perfect holiday.

Owner's Response: Peter & Sheila, thanks very much for your super review, comments like that make all our efforts worthwhile. We said you would have a good holiday and it appears that is what you had. Look forward to your return visit. Remember Luz is a fantastic place to stay in the winter months and we always treat returning guests favourably during the off season.
Kind regards
Roger & Margaret

We loved this townhouse with the huge pool area and the wonderful green garden.
Our two-year-old daughter enjoyed every day of our trip. A baby cot and a highchair were there also, unfortunately for 25 Euro each, which is a lot, when you know how much they are, when you buy them.

The air-conditioning was great on the two hottest days (about 37°Celsius).
We visited every beach from Luz to the westcoast and each one was better then the next. Little tidal pools for the kid, hugh waves for the parents.
The equipement is luxurious, especially the Playstation with the car racing games fascinated Daddy.
In the second week of August it was nearly crowded on the pool. Once I counted 12 kids and 15 adults. But the first wieek was very quite...

Thanks for the great accommondation which we really redommend!

Great family holiday

Review Submitted: July 25, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Recently returned from our two-week trip to Luz and can only say that we had a wonderful family holiday which exceeded all expectations.

The accommodation felt like home from home. It is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need, from the BBQ to beach parasols. Special extras were very much enjoyed too - Sky TV, fresh coffee machine and massage chair! Great to have a local English contact (Chris) for any issues during your stay (not that we had any) and Roger (the owner) was so helpful beforehand answering all our questions and providing us with all necessary information you could need whilst planning your holiday.

Luz and surrounding areas provide great beaches, lovely restaurants which are all child-friendly and within walking distance. Plenty of day-trips within easy reach too - mountains (Monchique), Lagos town, marina and beaches, Portamiao for boat trips out to the caves so would recommend hiring a car to get the most out of the area.

We have 2-year old twins and they LOVED the pool and the beaches. Definitely worth venturing out to the quieter beaches (particularly Zavial and Furnas) all with shallow waves during low tide and perfect sand-castle-building sand!

Would recommend to anyone but particularly great for families - we weren't bored for a moment!

My family and I have just come back from a fantastic 10 day holiday in Luz. This was the second time we have used this apartment, so a second visit speaks for its self. The apartment was easy to find using the directions given. When we arrived we found the apartment was even more homely and more equipped than on our last visit. We found the property very clean. The pool and garden area was very well maintained and most of the time we had the pool to ourselves. The information in the apartment informing us the best restaurants, attractions and beaches to visit made our holiday even better. We would highly recommend this apartment to our friends. We are looking forward to our third visit next year.

Lovely quiet position, yet handy for all amenities.Well appointed and keptPraia Da Luz is our all time favourite,we return time and again. If you like a good stroll, take the bus to Burgau and walk the cliff path back.Takes about 50 mins ,but well worth it!Not too arduous either. Also have a day out in Faro and ride the (very) slow train fron Lagos, rail travel as it should be.Buy a picnic and some wine and enoy the train trip back with your own buffet! As you gather lots to do based in a very comfortable and welcoming home.

We have been back for a second year to this well-appointed and spacious property in a quiet area, but close to the fabulous beach in Luz.
The free form pool shared by @ 12 properties in a crescent with lovely landscaped gardens make this place feel special. The properties are completely enclosed and secure making a perfect spot for kids to play and swim the days away.
Luz has a nice laid-back feel and boasts many good restaurants.
Further a field Lagos is a charming place with a large marina and plenty to explore. Beaches a plenty along this coast and much quieter than the resorts towards Faro.
For the hippy inside you check out the stunning West coast beaches with their surfing and camper vans.
All in all a perfect holiday destination. We will be back!

Family Holiday

Ang/Kev Essex, England
Review Submitted: March 11, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2007
Wonderful family holiday. The villa was clean, well equipped and extremely spacious for the four of us. We felt at home straight away, apart from the weather of course! We all enjoyed the pool (very inviting) and the surrounding gardens were beautiful. A lovely place to relax.
There was a large supermarket in Lagos to get the big shop, and a smaller one in Luz for the everyday items, including fresh baked bread. Some lovely restaurants in Luz aswel. The waiters very friendly and loved the children.
Lots to do in surrounding area for the whole family, good idea to hire a car. There were two water parks not far from villa, Splash & Slide and Aqualand. We preferred Aqualand because the staff seemed more on the ball and friendlier. There was also a Marine Zoo, but we found that more for younger children. The highlight had to be the Dolphin Trip. There were so many companies to choose from, so we got in touch with Chris who helped us decide, very helpful. Unfortunately we didn't see any dolphins but the boat trip was fantastic, well worth the money just for that, although not advisable for people suffering from bad backs!
We found a lovely beach up the coast at Salema, and a really nice beach bar with excellent food.
We would highly recommend this villa and have already booked to go again this year.

Excellent house with nice communal pool. Very clean and tastefully decorated. Kids (twins 6 1/2 years ) were thrilled with the swimming pool and evening was relaxing with sky tv. Shops within walking distance if not too hot. 10-15 minutes to the town centre. Beautifull children friendly beach. Overall a nice holiday, though the heat was overpowering in July. House well recommended and so is the place for family with small children or for relaxing holiday.
