Simply paradise

We travelled to this villa in August 2008. The family were myself and hubby, 3 grown up children and a friend and my disabled Mum. The whole idea was to give Mum a holiday and for her and us to have the opportunity to spend valuable time with the rest of the family who are working away or are at university. What we didn't expect was for all of us to have such a fantastic time. The views from the villa are out of this world, so good we didn't really want to do anything else but gaze at them or go very far away. In fact we did go on a few trips and walks. We went into the Sierra Nevada, Granada, down to the beach and hyper market and explored many of the local villages, all of which were absolutely lovely, but on our return we all felt that the best views were right on our doorstep. The villa was fully equipped. We tended to eat at the villa, taking it in turns to produce BBQ's and meals eaten under the stars overlooking the hillsides lit by village lights and on a couple of occasions by firwork displays. Siestas were taken in the cool lounge or bedrooms, sometimes in front of a video. This holiday was a complete get away from it all, rest and recuperate holiday. We did very little but sleep, read, talk, eat and drink. We were able to get my wheel chairbound Mum into the pool by sitting her in a pool chair and carrying her down the steps, surrounding her with floats and floating her into the water. After some trepidation, on our part as well as hers, she was able to float unaided in the water and became independantly mobile for the first time in 10 years. It was great to see this and once she realised how easy it was to scull around the pool, floating in the cool water, sucking on pieces of melon we couldn't get her out! The pull to return to Lake Vinuela next year is very strong - so who knows.....
