Fantastic Nerja Villa

Yorkshire_Family Yorkshire
Review Submitted: October 15, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Thanks for a lovely week. The villa is fantastic, spacious and relaxing, while Nerja itself is a lovely town wth great views and lots of great restaurants.

The villa itself is about a 30 minute walk from the town centre along the coast, and is on a hill which has fantastic views overlooking the sea. There are a number of small quaint restaurants in the immediate vicinity but if you like busy lively venues then a short walk will get you there, and plenty of bars and shops too.

The ground floor of the villa is the main area where you will find the large TV, pool table, bar, BBQ and pool. It's massive with lots of space for kids to play. I would advise hiring the optional hot tub, which is great especially in the cooler evenings. If you are having friends over for the evening then there is also room or the to crash in this area with the sofa beds.

A car is almost certainly required if you want to take in the beauty of neighbouring towns and/or visit shopping malls/supermarkets, although there are local bus routes with one passing right by the villa.

Finally, great communications with the owners before and after the holiday as well as very friendly and knowledgeable assistance from John at the management company in Nerja. Absolutely recommended villa, but elderly and wheelchair users may find the Spanish building concepts a bit too cluttered with stairs and sharp drops.

Owner's Response: So glad you enjoyed your stay and managed to take in some of the beautiful neighbouring towns such as Frigiliana. All of our guests find that the views from Villa Christina are breathtaking, and I hope that you enjoyed the beautiful night time views from the Hot Tub! I hope you will stay at the Villa again in the future, and don't forget Nerja is great for a Winter Sunshine holiday and Golf as well as Ski-ing is Sierra Nevada which is only an hour away.

Wonderful stay

Review Submitted: November 3, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
This is a wonderful villa. I just stayed there for a romantic week with my partner and was really impressed with the quality of furnishings, the cleanliness and the location. Nerja town is lovely and only a few minutes drive but we found ourselves spending most of our time at the villa either by the pool or in the huge games room. I would highly recommend this villa to anyone looking for a holiday in the Nerja area and it's suitable for a romantic break or for families. If you like the beach, Buriana is just a short drive and there's loads of restaurants there which are great to eat in during the evening as well as the day. I'd also recommend drive to Frigliana which is so pretty and has fantastic views. I will definitely return to the villa, probably with the children next time as I know they would really enjoy all the facilities there.

Owner's Response: Thanks for your review. We have a fantastic management team in Spain, who look after the villa and ensure that it is always immaculate and are there to look after our guests. The villa is certainly great for romantic getaways, as well as for family holidays. Lots of our guests find themselves spending lots of time just lazing around the pool, swimming and taking in the spectacular views and making use of the bbq during the day, and then spending evenings wandering around the Balcon de Europa and taking in the tapas bars and restuarants. However, the Burriana Beach area also has really good restaurants on or near the beach, which are great to visit at night as well as during the day. Dinner by the sea is wonderful. Hope to see you back again soon.

Thank you for such a lovely holiday!

This is an amazing villa with great views from every room!! I celebrated my birthday here and we all had such a great time.. the pool is great and a good size brick built bbq which we all used. The villa slept 8 of us very comfortably!

We would definately reccomend and would love to go back to Villa Christina!!

Owner's Response: So glad that you had such a great birthday at Villa Christina, it certainly is the place to celebrate, with the 90sq ft 'party room' and bbq, bar, etc. It is wonderful that you were still able to sun bathe and swim in October, the weather in Nerja is great in the Autumn/Winter months for a sunshine holiday. Hope to see you back again soon.

Wonderful Week in Nerja

Review Submitted: October 30, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Thankyou for a wonderful week in Nerja!

The villa is beautiful and the photographs really do not do it justice (especially the views which are stunning!). The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated and the air conditioning is a real bonus in the heat of the day!

The beaches in Nerja are really nice and clean and well equipt with lots of restauraunts selling all sorts of fantasic fish and paella.

The town itself is very quaint and has lots of nice little boutique shops to look around in the day and lots of restaurants and tapas bars for the evening. We found one particularly quirky bar where we had the best mojto we have ever had!

Although our trip was in September the weather was still scorching and we were able to use the pool well into the evening. We also hired the hot tub for the length of our stay which was a lovely addition.

I will definately recomend the villa to my freinds and we may even return there in the future ourselves.

Owner's Response: Thanks for taking the time to review the Villa, and so glad you had a great holiday in September. The weather in Nerja is always still very hot in September and also well into October it is often in the 80s. All of our guests love the view of the sea from the balconies. Glad you enjoyed the bubbly hot tub, great fun and seems really popular. Nerja is also great for winter holidays, with 320 days of sunshine though the year, and typically the temperature never drops below 16 degrees in the winter months. Maybe you could have a winter holiday next time and play some golf or ski!

Our Visit 18th July - 1st August 2009

Review Submitted: August 20, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
We had a great time in Villa Christina. There was more than enough room for 2 adults and 2 children (aged 8). The villa was very clean and exactly as described. The pool room was fab and the children got the most out of it when they weren’t in the pool that is. Views from the villa are lovely and we enjoyed having our evening meals on the top terrace. Once we managed to coax the children away from the pool, we visited the Caves at Nerja, Burriana Beach and Nerja Town. We also spent a day at the Waterpark at Torre del Mar. John Holmes, the local agent, was brilliant throughout our stay making us feel welcome and giving us lots of information about the surrounding area. The welcome pack was invaluable and we would never have found such a scenic place to eat in Frigiliana unless we had read about Tahona. Using the horse riding leaflet in the villa we booked a short 1hr trek at Hidalgo – lovely scenery and a great experience.
Thank you for all your help and attention throughout our booking and stay. Looking forward to return visit soon.

Owner's Response: So pleased you had such a good time at our Villa and once again the pool room sounds as though it was a big hit with the kids! The view from the Villa over the Mediterranean is stunning and sometimes its nice just to stay by the pool all day and relax. However, glad you got the chance to visit the surrounding areas as there is so much to see and do in and around Nerja and the Water Park is lovely for a day out with the children. Look forward to you staying with us again some time in the future, maybe for a winter getaway, as the climate is so mild during the winter months and Christmas is a great time to stay, especially New Years Eve which is celebrated by fireworks on the Balcon de Europa at midnight.

The perfect villa for two families

L, P and families Berkshire, UK
Review Submitted: August 17, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Villa Christina is a beautiful villa on a quiet and peaceful urbanisation, just outside Nerja. I must admit to being slightly worried that it would be noisy and very overlooked but apart from a few days of lively music from a nearby family, there was no problem. The villa itself was perfect, with breathtaking views and was spotlessly clean. Many thanks to John and his team for all their hard work.
Our party consisted of 4 adults and 4 children/teenagers and although I hate to admit it, the Sky TV was an absolute essential for sports mad husbands and teenagers!!
The pool was fantastic and because the temperature didn't drop below about 38 degrees we tended to spend most of the day lounging around the pool, enjoying the odd glass or two of wine!
The evenings were the best time to go out as the heat was more manageable then and there are some lovely restaurants and shops in Nerja and Frigliana, which we enjoyed visiting.
We did have a slight problem with one of the air conditioning units, but as soon as I notified John, he organised an engineer to visit. Unfortunately, it couldn't be fixed until the end of our visit, but these things happen, and apart from mopping up the leaking unit each morning, it didn't spoil our holiday.
I agree with some of the other reviewers, a car really is essential, especially in August when it is just too hot to walk any distance. The children preferred to visit Burriana beach because of the choice of water sports there and to walk would have been just too much! You need to get there early though to be able to park, so I should aim to arrive there by 11.00 at the latest, otherwise you face a long walk!
All in all, a fantastic holiday and I'm sure we'll be looking to return one day in the not too distant future.

Owner's Response: So glad you loved the Villa and the views. Ladera del Mar is an established and quiet urbanisation, so offers a peaceful holiday where you can quite happily stay in the Villa for days and have everything you need with the pool and bbq. For those who prefer to do lap swimming the communal pool is set in pretty gardens overlooking the sea and is for the sole use of the residents and their guests. Nerja at night is wonderful for families and couples alike, with so much choice of restaurants, tapas bars and the best ice cream parlours and coffee shops ever! My favourite is Anahi. It's a pleasant little cafe to have breakfast at with outside seating. Its attraction is that it has hot chocolate and churros, both delicious and a popular breakfast or mid-morning snack for Spaniards. It’s also a great café to pop into in the evening after dinner for a wonderful cup of coffee, a liqueur and a great choice of cakes. Nerja has all this but still maintains that quaint Spanish feel. There are often street entertainers on the Balcon de Europa in the evenings and the pony & carriage rides are always popular. We're sorry you had a problem with the air con unit in one of the bedrooms. Engineer has now serviced all the air con units, so all should now be ok again, and thanks for being understanding - these things do happen from time to time but our Managing Agent John is always just a phone call away to sort out any problems as soon as possible. We do always recommend a car as there are so many lovely places to visit during a stay in Nerja, and it does get very hot during July & August. Burriana Beach is fantastic for the kides and teenagers alike with loads of water sports to choose from. There is also a place called 'Adventura' located here. You can book many activities there from horse riding, fishing and water sports to day trips further afield. So glad you had a great time and we hope you will visit us again.

Villa Christina and Nerja in May

Scots Exile Newcastle
Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We had a fantastic stay at the Villa. 8 adults and an infant stayed and it still felt like a tardis. The pool is perfect for a dip after lounging on the terrace. the two outside eating areas were great. Make sure you get to the local supermarket Mercadonna early to get the best fish for the BBQ. Its a nice walk into town along the beach (shorter than walking along the road) and you will pass the Chiringuita BBQ bar (DO NOT MISS the lunchtime paellla special which starts at 1:30 every day).
There are plenty of good restaurants and bars in Nerja not all of them on the Balcon de Europa. The first proper row you come to after walking along the beach were better value and great food. If you like steak then the Maison de Anton inthe centre of town isnt tobe missed.
Overall we had a brilliant time. Our only word of warning would be to those pushing buggies as the villa is at the top of a steep walk but it was manageable to us and our 60+ parents.

Owner's Response: So glad your holiday was great, and you are right the Villa is much bigger than most people expect! Glad you utilised the outside dining areas, great for for bbq's during the day/evening or for a more intimate candle lit dinner on the upper terrace. As you say there are loads of great and different restaurants in and around Nerja, and the paella is always superb, there is also a great restaurant on Burriana Beach which makes giant paella every day. The beach walk into Nerja is lovely, and as you say lots of places to stop and refuel along the way. Hope to see you back again one day.

Owner's Response: So glad you all enjoyed yourself at Villa Christina and that you enjoyed the wonderful sea view. Our chill out/play room is always so popular and as you say, is great for older children to use the pool table and the sky tv and dvd machine, so make sure you take plenty of dvd's with you to watch! Our manager, John always ensures that the villa is kept spotless and is always on hand to help out. Hope you can come and stay with us again soon, maybe over the winder period.

Sun and relaxation

Jenni & Mika Helsinki, Uusimaa, Finland
Review Submitted: May 20, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We - a group of six adults - spent a wonderful week in Villa Christina. We were after a relaxing week in the Spanish sun and that is what we got.

Views to the sea were beautiful and we loved the pool. We visited the Nerja Caves, Sierra Nevada mountains and the Nerja village of course. Fuengirola and Mijas were also worth visiting. Still, there would have been a lot more to see and car brings loads of opportunities in the nearby area.

Only downside was that fridge was out of order and we had to get along with smaller one. However, no complaints, everything else was just as described.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Sightseeing, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Villa Christina is certainly the place to come for a relaxing week in the sun - in fact some of our guests say that they hardly venture out all week - just relaxing by the pool and taking in the stunning views means you can really unwind! However, so glad you took the time to visit the caves and the mountains. We do always recommend a car, as there are so many lovely places to visit in and around Nerja, and the Sierra Nevada Mountains are definately worth a trip. I am so sorry you had a problem with the fridge/freezer which broke down during your visit. Unfortunately, it could not be repaired so we have now had a new unit installed, and thank you for your understanding and hope the smaller fridge sufficed (cold drinks are a must in Spain!). I hope you will visit us again in the future.
