We would like to say a very big thank you to Matteo and Simona for their kind hospitality during our recent two week stay. From the first moment of our arrival when we were greeted on the drive by Matteo and Angkor (the most loyal and obedient dog you could ever wish to meet) to our final day of departure and the fond farewells from the whole family, we felt relaxed, comfortable and very much at home.
We are a family of four with two adult children aged 16 and 19 - we tend to be relatively independant whilst on holiday but found the close proximity of our hosts to be very reassuring should we ever have needed their assistance.
The content of these web pages provides an accurate description of the villa - we stayed in the larger of the two apartments and found it to be perfectly adequate for our needs.
The grounds are vast and the view amazing - from the meandering stream which runs alongside the property to the well stocked orchard which my wife visited (and cooked from) frequently.
The location is tranquil and proved to be an excellent base from which to explore the many interesting towns and villages scattered around the lakeside. We also ventured further afield to the Locarno Film Festival, Milan (by train from Arona) and the beautiful Swiss resort of Zermatt with its imposing Matterhorn mountain.
A car is essential as only the local village is accessible by foot - we did however find the Eurospar supermarket which opened during the first week of our stay to be most convenient.
Thank you to Matteo, Simona, Sophia and Angkor for welcoming us into their home - we take many treasured memories away with us and wish you all the very best for the future. Live long and prosper!

Hi,

We had a lovely week vacation with 2 kids (ages: 2 & 4) and my mother. The apartment is in a very quiete area with a very large garden where the kids can run freely. The garden contains a small river with nice small water falls. In hot days we could even wash in that river and falls. The garden also contains a wide futball plane and corners with tables and benches. Grill facilites are also available.

Mateo and Simona are very pleasant and nice hosters nad assisted us in any needs as well as recommedations of tours in near by places.

I stronglly reccomened this place for famillies with children that seek a calm and quiete place to relax.

A very unique setting

We stayed here for nearly a week on business. Definitely "off the beaten path" and the setting is fabulous. The apartments are very clean and well kept-up. The stream running through the property is very pleasant. It does also keep the apartment relatively humid, which is likely very nice mid-summer but was a bit more than ideal for the late spring when we visited. The hot water for showers is limited.

Overall, we wish we had more time to just hang-out at the cascina and enjoy the view.

A stay with friends

Our two-week stay at Cascina Boretta was memorable and very relaxing. Even though it was the first time there for us, a family with two children (ages 7 & 10), we had the feeling of familiarity and warmth from the minute we arrived. The young owner and his family, who lived in the same house, were open, generous and helpful. They offered us unintrusive privacy but they were always there to give us ideas on scenic walks, local events, picturesque villages to visit and they even shared their culinery skills with us. Thus we experienced Italy through the eyes of the locals and lived with friends.

The spacious apartment was clean and well-equipped. The huge garden had many different kinds of fruit trees and vegetables which we could pick to our hearts’ content, a field large enough for football and games, and a refreshing stream which kept us cool on hot summer days. A nearby supermarket that opened 7 days a week, supplied the rest of our needs.

We would recommend it to anyone seeking to explore the region on their own and especially to families. It is also advisable to have a car and a good map or navigation system as the area consists of many steep, narrow and winding streets.

We thank the hosts for their kindness and wish them every success with Cascina Boretta.
