Home away from Home

Review Submitted: April 27, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
A clean, comfortable and safe accommodation. I can recommend to anybody wishing to be away from the crowds, yet a short stroll and a bus ride to the center of Malaga. A car parking spot right outside the villa is provided by the lovely owner and her friendly partner.
My family who stayed with us for over a week were happy and would have no qualms about returning the the casa.

A pretty little holiday home

sarah127 London
Review Submitted: November 13, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
This is a pretty home, with ample space for two adults & 2 small children or one large one! You do really need a car though, as it's OK walking down to town and/or the beach (about 30mins downhill), but it's imperative to get a taxi up - the hill is soooo steep!!! That said the taxis aren't very expensive - about £3.50 (summer 2008). The property is clean & has everything you need - even Sky TV for my teenage son! The owner & her friend, who lives next door, were very helpful. The beach area is lovely - not at all built up - lovely white sand & a crashing surf! Good fun for body surfing! On the whole I enjoyed myself & it's well worth the money.

Magical Malaga

Pigmy Wantage, Oxfordshire, England
Review Submitted: October 28, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
I stayed at this gorgeous appartment for a week with my elderly and quite frail mother who is in her late 70's over the Easter break. She managed the steps up to the appartment and was extremely happy with the comfortable accommodation provided. The place was very clean, the kitchen had all that you could possibly want and we were delighted to find plenty of very useful information provided by the owner about the area .We were lucky enough to experience both beautiful sunshine and also SNOW which I understood from the locals reaction is pretty uncommon!, It didn't last long but made for beautiful scenery! The views from the appartment are fantastic, a car is very useful as it is in a hilly area but that adds to the charm. The area is NOT English and why would you want that?? stay at home if you want English is what I say. Lovley friendly restaurants close by, useful shops that again you could get anything you wanted from. There is lots to do, plenty of places to visit and experience.Nina is not only a fabulous host but one who cannot do enough to be helpful. In fact we found all the locals we came into contact with to be very friendly and willing to point youin the right direction. The beach is very clean and close by! You are ideally placed for doing lots of sightseeing or if you prefer, you can just laze on the sunny patio, chilled wine in hand and RELAX. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be coming again SOON!

Lovely place

Review Submitted: October 18, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
We loved to stay in the flat, which was nice and clean. The view from the terrace was of course the very best. The area is the best in Málaga, we like it because there are not so many tourists. The beaches are nice and all the fish restaurants are very good, you can eat a new place every day for a long time. Lovely, because the Spanish eat there, especially Sunday afternoon is spectacular with everybody out. Although there are a lot of lovely restaurants, we stayed at home for dinner, shopping in the big supermarket down the hill, where we got a lot of nice Spanish things and a lot of fresh fruit and vegetables, and good bread, which we Danish people often miss when travelling. If you want a holiday where you do not meet Spanish people you should stay west of Málaga, Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella, that is where you can get English food and meet people not speaking Spanish.

appartamento malaga

pietroplazza sant'arpino
Review Submitted: October 14, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008

Wonderful Holiday

Goggler London, UK
Review Submitted: October 14, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
This appartment was a wonderful place to stay - not only was it comfortable, it was perfectly situated and had some of the best views of the beach and Malaga itself. If you are looking for a chavvy and lacking in culture area (ie where everybody speaks English EVERYWHERE and you want an Full English every morning), don't choose this place - it is for those who are unafraid to experience a quintessential Spanish experience, full of great food, people and things to see. The beach is lovely, with some great restaurants on the beach front. Malaga town centre is beautiful - especially at night. This appartment had everything you needed and the outside terrace at the front made for the perfect warm evenings spent with family/ friends. Best to hire a car to be sure to see everything, and the surrounding area is quite hilly, however this positioning meant some of the best views (as I mentioned before). I loved staying here - no it's not 5 star, but for a wonderful and comfortable experience, I couldn't recommend it any higher! The owner is also lovely and we were visited by her friend who lived nearby who could also recommend some great things to see! I loved it!

Neat England
Review Submitted: August 29, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
If you hate large cockroaches don't stay here, they live in the bathroom. Ants ran round the kitchen and on the first morning my grandson woke up to find lots of them crawling over his bed. The furniture is very old and dated so the place smelt musty. Not One person that we spoke to understood english in this area so you need to speak spanish. The shops here are not for holiday makers and the supermarkets are very basic with limited stock. Book a car before you leave England if you don't speak spanish as we could not find anywhere there. The exotic plants refured to seem to be a rubber plant on the patio which needs some TLC. The closest beach is not suitable for small children or walking on without shoes as its rough pebbles mixed in with the sand. We were there for a week and by the second night I tried to get flights home as I was so upset by the apartment and the surrounding area. When it said that its a residential area we understood that most would speak spanish but having been to 3 other parts of Malaga in the last 3 years this is the only place that no-one spoke English, this was not stated in tthe write up and should have been as its a very important part of the holiday. The only resterant that the owner left directions for is a quite a walk away up and down hills so the place is no good for those with disablities, when we got there not only did they not understand us all the tables were stacked on the tables and appeared to be staying there as they only had one person working. I wouldn't recommend this property to anyone, the only good thing was the weather.
Owner's Response: Having rented this property for 5 years and always made every effort to ensure people are comfortable and happy here, I was disappointed to see my first negative review and would like to clarify the points which I consider unjustified.
The fact that this is a Spanish area is stated in my review of the property and therefore I would imagine renters would not expect everyone to speak English or that a wide variety of English products would be available in the local supermarket. Personally I go abroad to experience a foreign culture and cuisine and consider this one of the main attractions of the area with the local fish restaurants and tapas bars. However we have an excellent local market with fresh fruit, vegetables, meat and fish and also a hypermarket 10 mins drive away with many international products.
It is possible to stay in the apartment without a car, nevertheless I do recommend hiring one and give the name of a local English company to the tenants stating that it will help them avoid long queues whilst waiting for the car in the high season.
The local beaches are either sand, shingle or a mixture depending on where you go, and I have never encountered anyone who has found this to be a problem before.
The apartment is situated in a prime location overlooking the bay of Malaga with a beautiful view. The fact that there are a few steps up to the apartment led me to state that it is not appropriate for the disabled or in some cases for the elderly. I cannot be held responsible for whether or not restaurants in the area are deemed appropriate for the less abled or not, nor whether or not they are open when my tenants go there. We have Spanish eating times here so if someone is looking to eat at English times they may well be disappointed.
I state that the terrace is "surrounded" by exotic plants, meaning jasmine, bourgainvilla, lantana, solandrum and hibiscus grow in the flowerbeds next to the terrace and their scent and beauty can be appreciated from there.
The apartment is adequately furnished and comfortable offering excellent value for money compared with many others in the area.
I do take precautions against cockroaches however they can occasionally still put in an appearance. As for ants, they are attracted by food and crumbs. I myself lived in the apartment for 10 years and never experienced them in the bed. Had we been informed of the problem whilst the tennant were here It would have been dealt with immediately.

Perfect Situation

Jaffa Edinburgh
Review Submitted: May 5, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
The place is perfectly situated close to Malaga but just far enough away for peace and quiet. Very cool apartment in the heat of the day - the sun hits the verranda early afternoon. Supermarket nearby and a golfers heaven. Nina was a very helpful and informative host and offered lots of useful hints for a great holiday. Malaga is within walking distance but a great and easy bus service is close by. Perfect setting and an excellent host.
