We have just returned from a fantastic two weeks at Casa Girasole (August 09). The accomodation was easily the best we have had on any self catering holiday, being clean, spacious and beautifully equipped - the owners really have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and relaxing. The pool was wonderful ,and was never really busy. The setting is stunning, just a short car drive to Montecarlo, and with several great restaurants within easy walking distance. We loved Da Angela for great food, great value and really friendly staff. There are many places within easy reach for a day trip, Florence, Pisa, Lucca and the Cinque Terre were all hits with our family, with children aged 11 and 13. We especially enjoyed cycling round the ramparts at Lucca ! The owners were extremely flexible with dates, and all of the information which they provided prior to the trip was clear and helpful. We would thoroughly receommend Casa Girasole for a family holiday.

Wonderful location for visiting Tuscany, short travel times to the ocean, Florence, Lucca, and other jeweled areas, like Cinque Terre.

Very clean and comfortable accomodations. Well equipped.

Beautiful view of Montecarlo from the bedroom.

Wonderful welcome basket, which we couldn't even finish.

Wonderfully situated, well maintained, well equipped and with the advantage of a beautifully clean swimming pool.
We had both a welcome box and visit from a charming and knowledgeable local lady.
Our second visit and we will return.
Many restaurants locally plus a supermarket within a couple of miles.
Excellently situated for exploring the numerous delights of Tuscany.

When you book on line you really aren't sure what you're going to find, but Casa Girasole lived up to our expectations. It was well equipped, spotlessly clean & near to the lovely walled town of Montecarlo. The local wines & restaurants were great. We would recommend this property & thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Holiday at Casa Girasole

Review Submitted: September 6, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
Much as the other reviews we had a super holiday at Casa Girasole during 2 weeks over end Aug early Sept 08. The pool was very good and the accomodation suited us well with two children, who were able to make friends with some others during our stay. The house is equipped very satisfactorily and is organised very efficiently. Location was excellent with an easy trip from Pisa Airport. The information in the visitors book and at the house provides a good guide for things to do and excursions to make. Amongst these going to Florence on the train at very reasonable cost (which puts you immediately in the centre of all the major sights without the stress and costs of parking) was great.

A great place to stay in Tuscany

Review Submitted: August 30, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a fantastic 2 weeks at Casa Girasole in August 2008. It is well located close to Pisa (approx 45 mins by car) and Florence (take the train - about 1 hr). The villa is well equipped, spacious with a lovely interior. The pool is large and we were always able to get loungers and chairs and there was always plenty of space in the pool, which itself was clean and tidy with great views across to the mountains. Montecarlo is a short drive away and has some amazing views. There are plenty of decent restaurants closeby as well as a good supermarket a short drive away. Our favourite place was Sam Gimignano which is about 45 minutes drive away - well worth a visit. We also went to Barga famed to be the 'most Scottish town in Tuscany'. Visit the magical 'Wind Cave' close to Barga (but take a jumper) to see some magnificent caves and stalagtites/stalagmites that are 1000's of years old.

The owner's customer care is excellent. She kept us well informed prior to our trip and gave us good tips for restaurants and places to go. There are also 2 local ladies who visit and can help on all sorts of matters when you are there.

Ultimately Casa Girasole is a great place to stay in a lovely location and gave us a perfect holiday.

We had a wonderful holiday at Casa Girasole. The views from the swimming pool are spectacular. Borgo Le Vigne is in a lovely setting and the grounds are well maintained.
Casa Girasole is a lovely house with a small garden, which incudes a table and chairs. The house is well finished and the owners have thought of everything that might be needed down to the smallest item.
We have visited this area many times but this is the nicest place so far and we hope to stay in Casa Girasole next year.

2006/2007 comments - Great base to visit Pisa, Florence, Siena, San Gimignano and surrounding countryside. Lucca's a gem. Thanks! Great introduction to Tuscany (couple from Lincs). Have had a great time. Great for sightseeing - no crowds. Some really good restaurants in Montecarlo. Thanks for your recommendations and for having this lovely casa. We shall return (family from Canada - Nov/Dec). Fabulous week; great food and wine, medieval towns and ski resorts! (couple from Kent); Tuscany has so much to offer and, after exploring numerous hilltop villages, to come back to this cool house is perfect for a relaxing holiday (couple from Herts). Another lovely holiday! We still found plenty to do and see second time round. Lucca is a lovely place. Thank you for the time in your home, we loved the pool (family from Scotland - 2nd visit). Great holiday! Lots to do and a great location. Thank you (family from Bucks). Great holiday. I'll come again! (Their son aged 9).
