A very nice stay in Montclar

The house on a hillside with great views and a wonderful garden was perfect for our needs, The house is very spacious with two kitchens, five nice bedrooms, a terrass and a relaxing pool area. The property is secluded, yet not far from a baker, and supermarkets in Carcassonne and Limoux, around ten minutes away by car.
The house was clean and well-maintained, with many facilities, incl satellite-TV with hundreds of channels.
We, four middle-aged couples, really enjoyed our holiday. There are a lot of things to see in the region and we highly recommend the property to other travellers. We visited a fantastic restaurant in Cavanac - the seven dishes meal including wine was worth every euro. I still drem about the lobster.

Great holiday!

Having stayed in Provence for 2 years running, we felt we had to discover a new part of the world.... so south west France it was!... not really FAR from Provence, but so different in atmosphere, and this house is perfectly placed to enjoy all of it.

From the stunning and dramatic cathar castles (good if you like history, great if you just like beautiful views), and of course Carcasonne, to the languid and charming Canal du midi. Market day at Mirepoix (lovely medieval town) and the gorgeous hills that surround Montclar in every direction. This house is so well situated. Just the drive to Mirepoix with the views across to the Pyrenees (also tantalizingly close) was a treat. There is enough here to fill several holidays, and i haven't even mentioned that the beach is less than an hour away as well.

As for the house... we found it well run, and full of everything you would need and more (table tennis table, sky sports!... cots, wireless internet, etc). But the best thing really is the setting. A great pool area, set in a lovely garden, with a great view (nice to eat outside looking at it) and SO quiet while still only a short drive from the shops.

On the last day we walked up the hill directly outside the gate for half an hour, without passing a single car/person, and finally came to a 360 degree view of the corbiere hills, black mountains, the plane in between with Carcasonne in it, and the Pyrenees. What a place!

Don't want to go home......

My party of 10 (two familys 5 children aged 10 9 7 5 3) had the pleasure of dealing with this property for the above dates, the house is exactly as shown in the pictures their are actually two kitchens and the smaller kitchen is pictured. We have been renting in Italy and Spain for the past 6 years, and without a doubt this property is the best property we have had the opportunity to rent, the whole renting process is conducted very professionally the house and it's provisions are exceptional and I am very happy to recommend it for all age groups. You would need a car to avail of the property but is is very centrally located and we made full use of the medieval city and all other holiday facilities, the owner has two large files of the provisions available in the area. Based on our experience with this property and it's owner we will be returning to France for future holidays. Supple/Tynan Party

Excellent villa

6 of us stayed in this superb villa in September 2007. It definitely exceeded expectations. Wonderful hillside location close to the quiet village of Montclar. Everything was very clean and the villa is equiped to a high standard. The property manager, Ralph, met us on arrival and was very helpful. Good base for exploring this part of France and for visiting Carcassonne. We have rented a number of chalets/villas over the years and this was by far and away the best.

We stayed at this villa for a week in August 2007. There were seven of us, but the villa could have taken a couple more easily. The villa was excellent. The rooms were lovely and the facilities inside and out were top quality. It is a perfect place for relaxing and a good base to explore this part of France.

The views from the main balcony are wonderful and al fresco dining is a must. Despite being remote there are supermarkets within a 15 minute drive.

I would recommend this villa to anyone.

We had a brilliant holiday - it's a lovely property in a fantastic location and ticked all the right boxes for the whole party (9 of us aged 16 - 59): on-site facilities were faultless and exceeded our expectations; lovely views from the property with spectacular scenery (and scary canoeing!) a short drive away. The property sits in splendid, peaceful seclusion but good choice of supermarkets, restaurants, boulangeries etc.. within 15 minutes drive. Reluctantly gave the keys back after only two weeks, extremely envious of Labyrinthe's owners.

Truly Luxurious Villa!

Review Submitted: February 5, 2008 Date of Stay: May 2007
We spent a fantastic week in this wonderful luxury villa in May 2007. We could not fault it in any way. It really is a fantastic villa in a fantastic location and all facilities were fully utilised during our stay.

The owners really have thought of everything. The addition of pool towels is a nice touch. The equipment provided in both kitchens and the bathrooms etc. is second to none. It really is a home away from home! It truly is a luxury villa. It is kept in immaculate condition and was incredibly clean on our arrival.

We were met at the property on arrival by the property manager who explained everything to us. We knew how to contact him should there be any problems during our stay, but fortunately we did not have to.

With the exception of the weather (!), we had a great week in this luxury villa. We look forward to returning again!
