A fantastic stay in San Francisco

Sept 2009. 2 of us stayed in the property while attending a conference at the Moscone Centre. We had a fantastic week, staying a short journey from the City we saw much more of the locals. The apartment is situated approx. 8 minutes walk from a Muni Station also served by buses and ample taxis. A great variety of public transport, we tried it all.
The walk enables you to appreciate the city from an elevated position, the sunsets and sunrises illuminating the sky amazing views from the balcony and bed.
The flat is a home from home, spacious, very clean & tidy, well maintained, and wireless internet access.
I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone who wants to see more than high rise buildings, and get a feel for the locals, who are all very friendly and have time for a chat.
Accommodation easily accessible to transport to anywhere on the island. Buy a Muni card, available at the airport and start making big savings. Makes public transport very reasonable, probably the most reasonable City I have every used public transport in. We visited Fisherman's whalf, managed to avoid the a red bus trip and hired bikes instead. Biked across the 'Golden Gate Bridge' enjoying fantastic views, down into Sausalito - a boat ride back. Visit to Alcatraz, book in advance if you don't want to be disappointed definately worth a visit for the young and old. Visited China town, the apple mac store and Hollister.

I would recommend this Accommodation and location.

You Must Stay Here

This apartment was everything it was made out to be. It was comfortable, clean, fully equipped and was in a really nice quiet neighbourhood. The view over the city from the master bedroom both at night and first thing in the morning was absolutely breathtaking.

The main Castro/Market district was only a few minutes walk away where we found plenty of nice restaurants, shops and bars full of really friendly people.
We will definitely visit San Francisco again and would hope that we could stay Casa Buena Vista next time also.

Casa Buena Vista

This apartment is everything it was cracked up to be on the website. The location is ideal. You feel you're staying in the "real" San Francisco. Marvellous neighbourhoods such as Haight Ashbury and Castro are within walking distance (or you can catch a bus), while downtown San Franciso is only a quick tram-ride away. Perfect if you don't have a car, but if you do it's easy to park in the street outside. The apartment is in a quiet street, and is comfortable and well equipped - luxurious in fact. If you like what you see, don't hesitate.

An ideal San Francisco holiday base

Review Submitted: September 24, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
Hi all,

Well we arrived at this apartment on Friday 12 September and were thrilled with the presentation and cleanliness of the apartment. The apartment was warm and cosy and the back verandah (i.e. off the bedroom) provided stunning views of the city.

The apartment is located in the upper Market Street district. A 10 minute walk (admittedly down some steep stairs but hey, this is San Francisco) provided easy access to public transport - both the underground rail and the F series trams. We loved the trams and only used the underground rail on the last day out of curiosity.

Located within 10 minutes drive of the Golden Gate Bridge, it was a pleasant drive north to the Nappa Valley. Easy access to Highway 101 provided uncomplicated access to both the International Airport and the southern coastline of California.

The big thing that impressed us was how quiet the area was. We felt quite safe at all times.

We spent much of the time in the Downtown District and enjoyed all the usual tourist attractions (i.e. Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, the Coit Tower, Lombard Street etc etc). But we also took some time out to visit the Nappa Valley (north of the city) and took a short two day trip down the Big Sur to Morro Bay (south of the city) - an absolute must if you have the time.

In short, we loved both the apartment and the City. It made a really pleasant change to actually live in the city - as opposed to holidaying in a hotel.

For those that need to stay in touch via the internet, the apartment has a wireless internet facility and we were able to simply connect our laptop to this system to access our emails.

We recommend the apartment to tourists (with or without a car), couples with no kids, or families with teanagers. If you find steep hills hard, then this apartment may not be for you unless you have a car.

Happy holidaying,

Mark and Karen (Sydney, Australia)

Fantastic Apartment in San Francisco

We had a fabulous week in the top floor flat at Casa Buena Vista. The apartment was clean, well equipped and most of all - comfortable and homely. The arrangements and service before the trip was first class. We felt at home in this wonderful apartment with its fantastic views almost as soon as we had arrived. We'd certainly recommend it to anyone. We had a great week in San Fransisco - great food, wonderful sights and friendly people.

Nice flat in nice neighborhood

We liked this apt. Close to Golden Gate Pk., transportation, and shops. However, "luxurious" would not be my description. Kitchen and bath were very old. Unavoidable pet odor throughout. Upstairs renters were noisy late at night.
But the price was good and there was available street parking.

Owner's Response: The apartment is described as being built in 1940 and we strive to keep the character of the period. However, we also are sensitive to the desire for convenience. The kitchen was updated with new counters, dishwasher, and garbage disposal four years ago. The classic stove which works perfectly is loved by guests. The bathroom has a new, pedestal sink, and the shower was re-grouted in the past year. It has a new toilet and a fine, deep bathtub. There have been NO pets in the flat and no one has ever mentioned an odor in the hundred of guests that have stayed with us????? I insist on extremely high cleaning standards with my staff.

I was staying in the upstairs flat with my relatives while this guest was with us. We came in late one night, but immediately went to sleep. The following night everyone was tired and in bed by 10:00 p.m.

Check out our other reviews. Our guests love staying here!

Great Family-Friendly Place!

Review Submitted: June 26, 2008 Date of Stay: June 2008
We stayed for a week in June. Everything was exactly as represented. The place was clean, bright, nicely furnished and has a wonderful view from the back of the apartment, which includes a nice deck off of the master bedroom. Night views were spectacular. Five minute walk to Cole valley, which has great restaurants and a Muni streetcar/subway stop (10 min to Embarcadero). Be prepared to walk uphill on your way home (it IS San Francisco, after all!). We rented a car and always had a place to park on the street. We drove to Muir Woods, Stinson Beach and Half Moon Bay -- enjoyed it all! The neighborhood is quiet. Try renting bikes and riding across the Golden Gate and over to Tiburon. We did, and had a blast.

Although I never met the owner, Sandy, in person, I did talk to her by phone and email. She is wonderfully responsive and accommodating. We have 3 children and this place slept everyone comfortably. The perfect spot for a family vacation in San Francisco!!
