Groet,

Lovely Casa Bruges

Review Submitted: September 2, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We loved the Casa Bruges. We were a party of four adults and 1 child and we all had plenty of room and privacy. The owner's Mother checked us in and we had fun each trying to speak the other's language with not much success. The location was wonderful - we left the car and walked everywhere. We stayed five nights, but would love to stay longer next time.
The house is really well equipped with everything needed to set up housekeeping. The decoration and furnishings were lovely and the house was immaculate. I just can't say enough good things about this rental. The communications with the owner were easy and my deposit was returned before I left.
Bruges is lovely and it is so nice to stay there and see things after the crowds of day-trippers leave. We hope to be back someday!

Trip with parents

An excellent location and nicely presented house.

We are frequent visitors to Bruges and would recommend a comfortable pair of shoes, then just get out there and walk - by far the best way to see all the town has to offer.

This visit we brought my parents for their first visit - they couldn't believe how many stunning buildings there are; I'm sure they'd love to return.

The house is nicely presented with a lovely lounge on the first floor, well equipped kitchen and delightful courtyard - quite a suntrap in June, when we visited.

However, we would not recommend it for 2 couples, despite there being 2 double beds. It's not obvious from the description, but there is no door to the upper room, so no privacy (and the lack of height is a bit of a challenge for adults). I'm not sure I'd be happy taking young children either as the stairs to the top floor are very steep and completely open for small ones to tumble, particulary as you need to go down for the toilet.

The garage was a great bonus as parking is always a a challenge, and having a secure location where you can park up and then forget about the car for the duration of the visit, was great.

Lovely House

This was a very roomy house for us, a family of four. And very well equipped. As stated it's a short walk from the main tourist spots. Probably 10 minutes to the main squares, but there are plenty of bars and restaurants even closer.

We would highly recommend Gran Kaffee de Passage: very close, off-main street prices and nice food (great beer, of course!). In the main Markt square de Beurze was pricey but good.

Must dos: canal trip, The Belfy at Markt, Burg City Hall & Basillica, de Halve Maan brewery with guided tour, St Salvator's Catherdral, Church of Our Lady.

Less good: Damme was underwhelming - boat trip was OK but would have preferred to cycle. Similar for Minnewater.

Market day at t'Zand aquare is worth a look especially as it is so close.

Get a guide book with walks. A lot of Bruges can be covered easily on foot as it's pretty flat and it's the best way to see it. Warning though, try to check opening times as many attractions shut for lunch or all day on a Monday.

Although we were very pleased with the house, we do have one word of warning. perhaps it's because we timed it for an extremely humid week, but there were mosquitos as the canal runs nearby. Bring some cream.

The owners could not have been more helpful to us. Mum came along to clean the place as we left, but was OK with us leaving our bags there for a last explore, and was very helpful in getting a taxi for us to get to the train station (there is a nearby bus, but with all the bags...).

Wireless internet throughout the house by the way - great for teenagers - and parent investigating Bruges.

Highly recommended.

We stayed at this house in October 2008 and had a great time. The house was clean and comfortable and was centrally located, so we did not have to use the car at all during our stay there. Bruges is quaint and charming and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit. Would recommend this house!

Casa Brujas, Bruges

Family with 3 kids Nottingham, UK
Review Submitted: June 19, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
Lovely house in the centre of Bruges, beautifully renovated and well spread out over 3 floors with a little courtyard so there is a feeling of space. We also had use of the garage which was great as parking in Bruges can be tricky - we didn't use the car again for the whole 4 days. The house is really well equipped with loads of crockery, cooking utensils, pots etc to do your own catering but also close to restaurants for eating out. Easy walking distance to the centre and all the sights, even with kids! There is a particularly good ice-cream/sorbet takeaway round the corner & down the road which our kids became addicted to even though it was February! Owner was prompt and efficient dealing with our booking - we were even lucky enough to gain access to the property a little bit earlier that the stated time. Would definitely go again & can thoroughly recommend Casa Brujas.
