Just got back from a wonderful stay at "The Pump House" A Big Thank You to Claudia, James and their family and pets for providing us with a warm welcome, a most comfortable base in an idyllic setting.
This cottage is quaint but with every modern convenience that you could ask for and more.
We especially loved the wood burning stove which gave our evenings that warm fuzzy feeling.
Thank you also for the delicious home made scones and jam you provided for us on our arrival ( must get the recipe )
We will be back soon,
Jacquie & Mike Berkshire

A peaceful getaway

A very nice cosy and comfortable little cottage. We managed an all-day visit to Galway and its surrounding areas. There is a very convenient train service to Dublin to avoid the hassle of parking. Athy is a good centre for touring. For racing enthusiasts, The Curragh is only a short drive away. Thanks to Claudia and James for making us so welcome.

Pump house review

My boyfriend and I stayed at the pump house in December 2008. It was a wonderful stay. The house was very warm and welcoming and Claudia made us feel very at home straight away. The fire made it so cosy and perfect in the cold and rainy december weather and having shops nearby made it so easy to cook in the evening. I only wish we could'v stayed longer.

Great get-away

We have been to the Pumphouse twice with every intention of going again. It's such a wonderful hideaway. Everything in the house is of high standards -the bed is the most comfortable I've ever slept in, the bathroom is luxurious and the living room is so cosy. Everything is perfectly decorated and inkeeping with its surrounds. The extra touches such as the bottle of wine and fresh flowers make it extra special.
The location of the cottage is ideal for getting way from it all and we love the farm animals around the place. It's also close to the lovely town of Naas, with good restaurants, pubs and wee farmer's market.
All in all it's a great place to stay and we'll definitely be back.

An Irish Gem

We couldn't have asked for a better place to use as a home base in our stay in Ireland. We stayed at the lovely pump house for 3 weeks to celebrate our 40th anniversary. I think you get a real feel for life in Ireland staying in Athy. We visited family that we found in Ireland which was a highlight of our trip.

The pump house was very clean with a comfortable king sized bed. We really felt pampered with the heated tile in the bathroom.

Claudia and James were the perfect hosts; helpful if you have questions yet letting you have all the privacy you want. They have a delightful family and we would very much like to return to meet their new little son.

We would highly recommend the pump house to anyone.

The perfect getaway

We had a fabulous weekend in the Pump House, the decor is beautifully done and the wood burning stove a real treat, the cottage is extremely cosy in a late October chill. A fantastic hideaway set in beautiful surroundings, with the donkey coming to visit in the mornings. The surprise bottle of wine, the flowers in the room and the excellent amenities really added to our already surpassed expectations. Thank you so much to Claudia and James for making us so welcome, we would love to come back and enjoy more of the river and the local golf when the weather is more amenable. We enjoyed learning about Shackleton in Athy town museum and a trip to the farmers market provided us with an excellent dinner. The bed was a pure joy... I want one. Congratulations on getting it all right!

Great riverside country cottage

Review Submitted: October 29, 2008 Date of Stay: February 2008
The Pump House is ideally situated along the river in Athy, with easy access to the town as well as the real feeling of being out in the country side. The high light of our stay was the great fishing along the river and the grand canal with the complementary bout provided. The boat trips up and down the river provide beautiful views of the town and old riverside manor homes, that one would not get ordinarily, providing the guest with a unique perspective and a true feel for the history of this lovely town.
The cottage was clean and very well maintained, and our hosts were extremely accommodating and friendly. there is a large array of farm animals, and great walks. I would definitely recommend the Pump House to any one, and its a great adventure for the children.

A simply perfect week in your beautiful little cottage. It met and exceeded my expectations, and the extra touches (duck eggs, wine, flowers) were very much appreciated. The surrounding countryside is so beautiful and the cottage is set in gorgeous parkland. Highly recommended.

USA Guests at The Pump House

Review Submitted: October 21, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We thoroughly enjoyed our weeklong stay at The Pump House. The property met our "high" stanadars for cleanliness. It is bright, cheery, nicely appointed. Modern yet authentic. Although it was cool and chilly outside, we were cozy and comfortable inside. The bed with duvet was devine! The welcome breakfast pack was nice and bottle of wine a treat. The owners were friendly and helpful, providing us with information on nearby activities. It was so quiet at night, we knew we were in the country. We could see stars through the skylight. We visited the Farmer's Market on Sunday at the Athy Square. Since we had a rental car, we drove to Tallaght and took the Luas, light rail train, into Dublin for shopping and sightseeing. That was fun and relaxing. We took a day trip to Waterford and had dinner in Tomastown at Mt. Juliet. We visited Citiwest and The Outlet Shops. I would highly recommend The Pump House for a stay in the Irish countryside.
