Martin and Slavka, London : We had such a superb time in Lisbon and absolutely fell in love with your flat. It's such a special place and we felt very much at home. Thanks to you for all the information you provided us, both before our stay and in the flat. It all helped to make our visit smooth and interesting. We have told so many friends about our fantastic experience so I'm sure you'll get more bookings in the future !

From Carole Ruta, Australia : What a wonderful holiday we had. Paula is an absolute delight and keeps the apartment so sparkling clean - a gem. We loved the apartment and made marmalade from a few lemons. The position was just perfect and we walked miles daily so ready for a sit on the terrace with a glass of 'vinho verde'. I would highly recommend the apartment and the location. I'm delighted we found your address on the net and look forward to returning some day in the not too distant future.

very enjoyable week

The apartment is very big with plenty of room for at least 4 people, its a residential area but not very far from Rossio for a wide choice of restaurants, shops and tourist attractions! Everything is within walking distance but far enough away from the noise of traffic, though the street can be noisy at night sometimes with locals or rubbish collection. I would recommend this apartment for a small group holiday or family, everything was clean and tidy and Paula was always there to help and make sure we were happy.

A very comfortable and proper apartment with a lot of space and a nice garden. Good customer service; when you arrive you'll find some fruit on the kitchen table and the fridge is filled with a bottle of wine, some cheese etc. Paula, who lives on the ground floor, is waiting for you and is very helpful. She speaks English and if you have some questions, just ask her.
Nice location, quiet but close to Rossio, Alfama, Baixa. Well, in fact close to everything!; Close to the railway station ( go to Estorol to the beach for instance)
Carole, the owner, gives you a lot of information by email. She also is very helpful. Just ask her and you get an answer.
Carole, thanks for everything and when we come back to Lisbon, I know where we'll stay: your apartment!
Yes, we can recommend it to other people.

Unforgettable week in Losboa

Review Submitted: September 16, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
If you want to sample the real Lisboa with all its charm, then Carol’s apartment is a place to stay at. There is a family, unique touch about it and the location is great – you are just a short walk from all the attractions - the Castle, Alfama, the 28 tram stop…. You do not need a car, unless you are planning to visit places around Lisbon (i.e. Tomar, Fatima, Obidos) as we did; there is an ample, fee parking space in the street. Carole made sure that we felt at home from the very first moment- a bottle of a local wine and some fantastic cheese were in the fridge to greet us on arrival. Most importantly however, Paula (next door neighbour and fluent English speaker) was always around in case we had any questions or needed help.
Carole, thank you very much for a fantastic week! – We would recommend your place without a moment of hesitation.

Most satisfying

Review Submitted: August 10, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Just back home from one week in Lisboa. All five of us agreed this was at least as expected. The spacious apt. was perfect esp. with regards to our (varying) diurnal rhytm - and consequently the late, long outdoor brunches. Also honours to P&P for their services.

Down Town Lisboa

DIM Australia
Review Submitted: June 14, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
A nicely appointed townhouse with private garden and a very helpful caretaker in Paula downstairs. Good facilities and a nice size.
The area is a bit "edgy" but interesting and quite safe.
Could benefit from wireless internet (which Paula has downstairs and will let you use).

Owner's Response: I'd just like guests to be aware that using Paula's wireless internet facility is not something that should be assumed! Paula is exceptionally kind and helpful but I don't wish her to feel that this is now a service she needs to supply. In fact the building is at some stage investing in a communal system which our future guests will be able to benifit from.
Dim is right when he emphasises the very central and safe location of the building with a neighbourhood feel - "edgy" is an adjective which is of course subjective and applicable to all central, capital city locations.

Lisbon apartment

Review Submitted: May 23, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
The apartment suited all our needs - being clean, comfortable and centrally located with the addition of having character and being in a quiet but totally fascinating area. It was great to be able to walk to a number of attractions but we also enjoyed the trams and buses!
The roof terrace was a bonus, what better than at the end of a busy sightseeing day to relax with a drink or start the next day with a leisurely breakfast with fresh rolls from the local bakery while we planned our itinerary.
We also found restaurants within a short walk away which provided good honest food at exceptionally reasonable prices. We never did get to use the cooker or microwave as we preferred to sample the local cuisine!
Paula and Paulo were very helpful when they picked us up from the airport giving us an impromptu tour of central Lisbon showing us various places to go and pointing us in the right direction to getting our bus passes.
We will certainly recommend this apartment to anyone we know and if we return to Lisbon it will be our first port of call.

Lisbon - fabulous for families!

Review Submitted: May 19, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
We spent five days at Carole and Ken's apartment in Lisbon - a superb location in the old part of the city, approx 10 minutes walk below the Castle wall, and 5 minutes walk down to the centre of the city. The apartment suited us very well as with two young boys we appreciated the sunny outdoor garden area to play in. It was very comfortable and extremely well set up for holiday makers and while it only says three bedrooms, we used the living room as a fourth as we had Grandma with us too - there is plenty of living space in the kitchen/dining area and outdoors. The neighbour Paula was fantastic - full of helpful information that made our stay so much easier and kindly organised a taxi for us. Lisbon is a fantastic city to visit - we wandered through the city streets, rode on the tram, played in parks, spent the day at Estoril Beach, visited the Oceanarium and Gondolar, took the train to Sintra from Rossio Station (10 minute walk from apartment), ate at open air restaurants, saw the sights of Lisbon from the Castle. We will definitely be back again!

We could not have been better than in Carol's flat in Lisbon. the appartment is not only greatly located, next to the Castelo san Giorgio, it is also very well equipped, spacious and has everything you might need. You feel immediately at home and the sunny terrace with its fruit trees and plants is so agreeable that you might find difficult to leave it!
In addition, Paula who lives downstairs is a great helper and gives you her good tips for visits. If we go back to Lisbon, we will certainly go back there!

Une excellente adresse à recommander, appartement tres bien situé, comprenant tout ce qu'il faut pour une séjour avec ou sans enfants, et disposant d'une tres belle et agréable terrasse.

Wonderful Retreat

Review Submitted: December 11, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2008
My family had a great time while in Lisborn, This property suited our needs perfectly. Paula, the neighbour, was most helpful. If really makes a difference arriving in a foreign country and having a friendly face to greet you. My 1 year old had a ball with all the videos to watch, and the courtyard was a wonderful quiet setting to just relax and have a few wines while playing cards. The place just felt like home. I would really recommend this house to anyone looking at staying in Lisborn. It works out much cheaper then staying in a hotel especially as there were 4 adults and a baby.
Our 1 year old teethed the whole time we were away so being in the apartment was very convienent for us and all the books and dvd were a help for us.

Many thanks to Carole and Kenneth for providing a warm and wonderful place to stay. We will definatly be back at some stage.

Enjoy Donna
