Hulya House Paradise, home away from home.

Review Submitted: January 10, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2007
We stayed at Hulya house for 2 weeks Aug-Sep 2007, 2 adults and 2 children, aged 11 and 7. The house is amazing, it is furnished to a high standard, and is fantastically equipped. The welcome pack was a godsend. A car is a must with this house, but the owners can organise this for you, along with transfers from Larnaca airport, if needed. The transfer from, and to, Larnaca was totally hassle free and very inexpensive. The surrounding area is very peaceful, a real get away from it all holiday. Kyrenia is approx 20 minutes away by car, and very easy to find. Supermarkets, restaurants and beaches are all a short car ride away. Escape beach was our favourite, and great for kids. Favourite restaurants were Carpenters and Ambiance, the latter providing a fantastic setting for dinner, and also very children friendly. Northern Cyprus is definitely worth a visit, we had visited the South several times and were interested in seeing the North before it became too touristy. A long drive down to the panhandle, is also worth a visit if you're adventourous. We stayed overnight at the turtle beach campsite, which was an experience, and not for those wanting home comforts, but it was something we would thoroughly recommend, and the children loved it. Anyway, back to the villa. I would thoroughly recommend a holiday at Hulya House to anyone wanting to get away from it all, it's a little off the beaten track, but that's what makes it so special, it's an amazing place with a fantastic pool and the owners and caretakers couldn't be more helpful if they tried. Definitely a must, ENJOY.
Owner's Response: I can't thank you enough for this fantastic review-I could not have asked for a better one-thank you very much!!
Best wishes Alison

Hulya House

Review Submitted: November 4, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We spent a wonderful week's holiday at Hulya House in September.
The villa is very spacious, well laid out and equipped with everything you could ask for. The highlight must be the lovely garden area which has been beautifully landscaped and provides a secluded and relaxing area to chill-out by the immaculate pool. Should you tire of this (difficult!) then there are lots of places to drive to in Kyrenia and the surrounds.
The local beach is just a few minutes away and has a bar/restaurant. The sea there is great for swimming and very warm.
We spent some great evenings enjoying a barbeque by the pool but there are several very good restaurants a short drive away. The people are friendly and the service excellent.
This was our first visit to Northern Cyprus ,the climate is perfect and we will definitely go back again and stay at Hulya House.

My family (2 adults, 3 teenagers) had 2 great weeks in this villa. It was everything it claimed to be, well equipped, private, and quiet with great surrounding scenery. Alison, the owner, organised our transfer to and from the airport, which is essential if you land in Larnaca, and also organised our car rental which was delivered to the villa as promised. It was very stress free. Our 2 weeks were very hot, last week in Aug - 1st week Sept, and really difficult to do anything other than pool/beach during the day. The air-con in the bedrooms was essential. Evenings were lovely, and there are so many great restaurants to try. There is a guest book in the villa with previous visitor’s thoughts, which were very useful.
Alison was great with her communication, and very helpful with questions prior to our trip. We really did feel that we were staying in her home, and not simply a rental villa, and that was important to us. The people in N Cyprus are absolutely wonderful, so kind, helpful and generous, it made our holiday and I would recommend this property to anyone.
Thanks Alison.

Hulya House: July 2009

Review Submitted: August 22, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was our first family holiday abroad with two children aged 6 and 4. Being honest, we had concerns as to whether the reality of Hulya House would match the description on the website. Having never hired a villa before, we genuinely had no idea what to expect but Hulya House surpassed all our expectations and provided a very special and memorable family holiday.

The communication from the owners prior to departure was great, organising car hire and a driver for us. We were met as planned at the airport and transported to the villa, collecting our hire car en-route without any fuss. The hire company even supplied booster seats for us. A car is really needed to get to the beaches and restaurants.

The villa was immaculate and spacious, being very private and secure. Gates to the front and fencing all around, provide a safe child friendly environment within what is a quiet residential area. Clever planting within the large colourful garden provides privacy from the neighbouring properties, allowing you to relax by the pool. The pool is fantastic and has walk in steps which was great for our kids, who virtually lived in it for a fortnight!

What the website cannot fully convey is the breathtaking mountains which provide the backdrop to the house. These are quite simply stunning!

Internally, the villa is superbly equipped and has a very home from home feel about it. The furnishings are modern and very comfortable. The welcome pack was perfect and removed the need to run to the shops immediately upon arrival. Local amenities (‘corner’ shop) are a short walk away, with larger shops and delicatessen’s etc 5-10 mins drive away. A lovely (and very practical) touch from the owners was supplying a mobile phone and sim, which avoided exorbitant phone bills.

The local beaches are wonderful, although we favoured lazing by the pool most days. Eating out was great with numerous good quality restaurants, which were very reasonably priced.

The local people were very friendly and treat children like royalty. Our youngest had a tantrum in the local supermarket and the staff didn’t frown on us but simply brought cakes and offered to take him into the bakery to see the bread baking. Wonderful!

Northern Cyprus is not over commercialised and has a wonderful easy pace of life which was ideal for us holidaying with a young family. If you are reading this review as the cynical holiday maker that I was, rest assured you cannot fail to enjoy Hulya House.

Excellent - great interior,beautiful pool & garden

Review Submitted: July 15, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
This is a lovely villa, set in beautiful grounds. Good size pool and lovely, well maintained garden. The interior is neutral and well done. The property was VERY clean on arrival and the management company were fantastic. They were always on hand and on the two occasions they had to visit the property they were there within 2 hours. Our son went down with chicken pox and they were fantastic, arranging a doctors appointment and attending the doctor with us to help with translation. They really went the extra mile.

The people in Northern Cyprus were delightful, so friendly and love children and very tolerant of them! We enjoyed all the local restaurants, particularly Ambience. You have to venture off the main road to find the beaches and beach restaurants.

Great, relaxing holiday and rarely left the villa!

Two weeks of peace

The Penman Cornwall
Review Submitted: June 15, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
This is a well appointed and attractive villa in a quiet area giving much peace and quiet. There are no reasons not to relax here. The villa is spacious, well equipped, nicely appointed and decorated, well maintained and very clean. It has facillities for entertainment; TV, DVD, CD player and some good books and DVDs available. It has a good sized pool which is also well maintained. Careful planting means that you have plenty of privacy from the neighbours. Situated in a small village which is split by the road n(which you are well away from) there are all facilities locally i.e. shops, bar, restaurant. There are plenty of good restaurants - Turkish, Indian, Chinese, Italian, French - a short drive away. Meze is a must but you can find food to suit all palates nearby and lots of good fish. There is an abundance of supermarkets both large and small, also locally and a short drive away. To make the most of the holiday a car is a must (which the owners can organise) as there is so much to see and do; Kyrenia (shame that they have spolt the view of the harbour with all the restaurants) is till quaint. Bellapais, Salamis, Famagusta, Vouni etc etc There are also good beaches locally with plenty of beach entertainment. So book, chill and above all enjoy!!!

Hulya House - November 2008,

Review Submitted: November 24, 2008 Date of Stay: October 2008
We enjoyed every aspect of our stay at Hulya House.
The transfer was easy and reliable. The car hire company couldn't have been more obliging, and we tested them!
The villa manager was on the end of the phone.
The villa was ideal - clean, comfortable and uncluttered.
The pool was a great temperature even in November - the kids were in it at 7am, and 7pm! I was in it a 7.05am!
The weather was amazing - the sun came up a 6.30am and went down at 4.30pm, making around 100 hours of sunshine in 10 days - about the equivalent of three English summers! I think we saw three of four passing clouds.
The beaches were varied with small beach bars on most, and the sea was warm and so clear - it's been a while since I could see my feet in the sea! We were also able to snorkel (although Egypt, the Maldives, or the Barrier reef it ain't, but then if you've not experienced that it's fine, especially for the kids, who haven't!).
We took a trip up to the Karpas peninsular which was delightfully unspoilt.
Everywhere was very quiet despite being half term, and often we were on beaches by ourselves.
All in all I'd find it hard to think of a bad thing to say about the holiday which was probably the best family holiday we have had.
I'd strongly recommend the villa, except for when we go next year!!

Hulya House

Not a lot one can add to the other favourable reviews here! We enjoyed two weeks in this lovely villa in September and much appreciated the good sized pool and air conditioned bedrooms.

The welcome pack was generous and most useful for our late arrival. A water cooler is also provided and was invaluable. We hired a car which is essential and visited some of the local sights - the castle at St Hilarion is especially worthwhile.

There are plenty of local restaurants and we were very happy with those we tried, especially Ambiance, The Stone Grill, Veni Vici, St Tropez, The Address and Carob (in Kyrenia)

Hulya House is a very well-appointed villa with beautiful pool. We had a relaxing time with everything provided. It's perfect for either just lazing around and doing nothing or as a base for interesting trips and visits to local sights.
We would highly recommend Hulya House to anyone contemplating a Cypriot holdiay.

A well resourced villa in a good location to access Northern Cyprus by car. The property was clean and the house manager visits in the first few days to check everything is okay. The pool is of a reasonable size and is regularly maintained and clean. The rear of the property is fairly private, as well planted vegetation gives privacy from neighbouring properties.
Bedrooms are air conditioned.
Welcome pack is provided which gives enough necessities for the first day.
A car is needed to make the most of your stay. One restaurant is a short walk away.
The owner gives good customer service and is easily contactable by email and telephone. A last minute short let of 5 days was easily arranged.
Would recommend this property to others.
