We had a great week at Bonsyde Cottages. The description was absolutely accurate. All contact with the owner - beforehand and during our stay - was very friendly, helpful and professional. The cottage is spacious, modern, clean and well-equipped. It is a perfect place for travelling to Glasgow and Edinburgh. We especially recommend the Linlithgow Scotch Hop (Scottish Dancing for All every year in July and August) which took place in Linlithgow Palace Courtyard and was great fun - even for two 14 year old boys!! We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a very nice and quiet place near lots of tourist attractions!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review of our property. We are so glad that you enjoyed your stay - holidays are so important, and it is essential that well - earned experiences are positive. It is especially nice to hear of your visits to the many attractions in this area, as well as to the nearby well known sites of Edinburgh, Glasgow and Stirling. Our guests this week have had the pleasure of seeing the Tattoo festival for free, also in the grounds of Linlithgow Palace - what a thrill for visitors and local people alike!

Schottland at it's best !!!!!

Review Submitted: November 16, 2009 Date of Stay: November 2009

Myself, my wife and my two adult daughters enjoyed our stay at the cottage for the whole two weeks that we stayed in Scotland. I found the cottage to be very warm and inviting with all the ameneties that you would want to have while on holiday. About the only thing that was missing for me personaly was a sound system for listening to my cd's. Other than that it was perfect! The location too was perfect, being far enough away from everything to enjoy the peace and quiet of the country side and yet close enough to all major modes of transport if you wanted to travel about. Thank you David and Helen too for your excellent hospitality. We had a wonderful stay and do hope to return in the near future.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. We also think we are very fortunate to have the location we do, and, like you, love being able to go to various places with very little effort and travel. Thank you for telling us about the lack of CD player - that has been an oversite by ourselves as all of our other properties have one!!! We will certainly buy one ASAP.

We stayed in the Bonsyde cottages for a week while we found longer-term lodging in Scotland. The cottage had everything we needed, and was comfortable and stylish. When we arrived we were greeted with a friendly welcome and a home-baked cake.
Our daughter made friends with the neighbor's horse. My husband and I made friends with the friendly bartender in the hotel lounge. The view from our bedroom window looked out over rolling hills. The town of Linlithgow is charming and picturesque. We simply loved it!

Bonsyde Cottages

We arrived in mid September at Bonsyde holiday cottage at 3.00am and it was lovely to make a cuppa straight away with the provisions provided. The welcome cake had to wait until later in the day!
The cottage was superb with everything you would need for a comfortable and relaxing holiday. Everywhere was spotlessly clean and I was very impressed with the efficiency of the central heating - thankfully only needed occasionally.
We had a couple of minor problems during our stay and they were dealt with immediately by the friendly and efficient staff. The situation of the cottages is ideal for visiting so many towns and other locations within an easy drive.
I hope to return to Scotland to visit all the places we didn't have time for and will definitely be staying at Bonsyde again. I highly recommend it for comfort, friendliness and situation.

We've come back!

We've come back to the Bonsyde hotel before we catch our flight, after having spent 4 weeks travelling around Scotland, and we have to say that the cottage is the best we've stayed in - very clean, very spacious, with modern furniture. The hotel, in the same grounds, serves super food and the people are so helpful and friendly. Nothing is ever a problem! It's ideally situated for visits to so many fabulous scenery and castles, and Linlithgow is a lovely quaint small town.

Excellent base for central lowlands of Scotland

Review Submitted: August 19, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Lovely cottage with spacious open-plan living area downstairs and all the labour-saving devices you could want in the kitchen. (And if you don't want to cook, you can always eat in the hotel restaurant, which we did enjoyably on our last evening.) Great welcome from David - my son still remembers the lemon meringue pie, that Helen had cooked for our arrival, 10 days later!

It really is an ideal base. With the M9 motorway so close at hand, Edinburgh, Stirling and even Glasgow are within easy reach. For getting to Edinburgh, we would recommend driving to the Ingliston Park and Ride by the airport; parking is free, the buses are frequent and run late into the night, and a £3 day rover allows you to use all the Lothian buses across the city - great value. The Falkirk Wheel is such a combination of beauty and engineering, about 15 minutes from the cottage, and the Linlithgow Hop great fun - even if you don't know Scottish country dancing.

Can't say more than we would recommend it without hesitation, and will use it again if we return to the area!

The cottages are very clean, spacy and modern. All the items works well and are very easy to use (incl. Sat TV). It's a very nice area, and only a few minutes from shopping and sightseeing. The owners are very nice and helpful.
