A great family holiday

4 from Birmingham Birmingham
Review Submitted: September 4, 2008 Date of Stay: August 2008
We had a great holiday with our children (5 and 7). Very easy drive from Calais; about 3 hours. The town is quiet and relaxed with plenty to do. The cottage is perfectly located for popping to and from the beach which is stunning. Brilliant rock pooling and walks, and the Arsene Lupin museum was surprisingly entertaining. The swimming pool nearby isn't huge but has very good facilities and a handsome lifeguard. Parking takes a bit of planning when unloading/loading as finding spaces close to the house can be tricky. It's not a big issue though and the free parking is plentiful and safe. Very friendly and helpful owner. Would love to go back.

Delightful Etretat

Bryan, Lynne and family Melbourne, Australia
Review Submitted: August 25, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2008
Staying in Etretat was a delight. The cottage is perfectly positioned in the middle of the town, and all is nearby - the beach, beautiful cliffs, shops, restaurants, bakeries ... you name it. The central location is its big advantage. Courtyard with table for meals was very well used. About 2 hrs by car to the D-Day beaches. Honfleur about 45 min with its lovely harbour is worth a visit, and Fecamp with the Benedictine distillery in the palace is well worth a visit along with its harbour and many restaurants. We had a great time in a lovely place. Thanks Jan.

Excellent accomations in lovely surroundings

The cottage offers everything you need during your holidays provided you are not used to live in 5 stars hotels. I can really recommend it to all people who also like a kind of romantic atmosphere. The hills of Etretat are amazing and the region invites to several sightseeing tours. Not having visited Etretat would mean a lack of magnific impressions, so: come there and have a nice stay in the cottage.

Location, location, location

D&G Nottinghan, UK
Review Submitted: May 22, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
Stayed a week in July (with two teenage boys) and hardly left the village. Cottage is magnificently situated, only two minutes walk from the seafront, in the centre of idyllic Etretat. Parking in the large (free) car park 5 minutes walk away is always available, but even in July parking in the local street was usually possible.

Lots of wonderful restaurants within a few minutes walk. Accommodation is on three levels, with fairly tight staircases inbetween, but there was plenty of room for the four of us. Not a lot of space on the terrace, but room enough to sit outside for meals.

Golf course must be one of the best in France, with magnificent clifftop views. Local tennis club is welcoming, with good facilities too.

Highly recommended - would love to go back.

Great Location

Fosters Hindhead, UK
Review Submitted: May 9, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
This was our second stay at this small but comfortable cottage. It is situated right in the middle of this famous seaside resort in a private courtyard. You are a minute away from the restaurants, the shops and the beach ( and an excellent ice cream shop!). There is a small outside area where you can sit out and eat when the weather is fine but the lack of outside space is fully compensated by the location so close to the beach and some of the most spectacular cliff top walks in Europe. You can walk for miles with fabulous sea views. You will see hangliders jumping off the cliffs and circling down to land on the beach. The sunsets are spectacular. There is a casino at the beach if you like a flutter. It is a good base for touring this interesting coast and Upper Normandy. Excellent seafood. Thoroughly recommended and the owner is delightful.

Fishermans Cottage, Etretat

OMO ENGLAND
Review Submitted: May 9, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2007
We have had two separate holidays at the property and enjoyed them very much. The house is well maintained and clean and contains everything to make your holiday enjoyable. It was very nice to be in the centre of the community and near to all the amenities.
Although there is very limited outside space at the property this is made up by the fact that the beach is within easy walking distance. The owner is extremely helpful and friendly. Parking can be a problem but we always found a place quite near to the property. We would recommend this property to friends.

Lovely stay - November 2007

Jacklyn Welling, Kent
Review Submitted: May 8, 2008 Date of Stay: November 2007
Who would believe the sun would shine in November 2007! It did when I stayed there, with three friends on a last minute break.

Walking through the alleyway entrance, at the end you find your lovely whitewashed cottage (which is great as no passing pedestrians to look through the windows)! Plenty of room inside for all, large living room space and kitchen with all equipment needed. Bedrooms are spacious too. Clean and tidy with some lovely decoration touches throughout. We soon made ourselves at home and made use of the large wine glasses we found in the kitchen!

Etretat is a very pretty village for a weekend away, the beach and its coastline are amazing. Shops are literally just around the corner from the cottage, from the local patisserie, gift shops, gorgeous restaurants to the lovely indoor market. We also found the casino just around the corner ... an experience not to be missed! If you hire a car, you should explore the beautiful countryside and French coastal towns on your doorstep. Enjoy.

Second stay at house

KateD Essex, England
Review Submitted: April 8, 2008 Date of Stay: April 2008
Lovely little touches - books in the bookcase, DVD's left by others. I was delighted to see they've built new stairs - stayed last year and spiral staircase was a pain. Would highly recommend. Easy to visit the pub and quick stroll home!

Happy family place

LibbyMP Sydney, Australia
Review Submitted: March 11, 2008 Date of Stay: July 2007
This cottage is cute and handy to the village and the beach. No real outdoor area but that did not matter as everything was close and we were in an alleyway.
Clean, well-maintained and with all mod cons. including power adapters for UK appliances. A circular stairway to the upper bedrooms may be difficult for elderly people but I was fine (at 63!) Myself, daughter, son-in-law and three children aged 18 months to 7 years had a great time there in August-September. Washing machine in the upper floor bathroom (attic).
Weather is cold for an Australian!
