Home from home (except with sun!)

Review Submitted: September 23, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
Pretty much everything about this villa is wonderful, but the thing that I appreciate the most is being able to turn up and start your holiday the moment you walk through the door; with a welcome pack and (superb!) wine system all ready to ease you into a state of relaxation.

I've been a few times and I just keep going back, which must tell you something.

I'm sure it would be possible to use the villa as a base for an activity-based holiday, but I've only ever been there to relax, and the villa, location and weather have never failed to deliver on this score (although I'm sure the weather isn't entirely down to the owners). On my last visit to the villa there were members of the group who left the villa only once in 10 days, they were living by (and in!) the pool. And then in the evenings it was only a short walk to the barbeque – and I must just say I think the barbeque chimney is a very rare thing indeed: a tool that does a job better than you expected. There are a variety of restaurants in the area, with some within walking distance of the villa, but we ate in (a combination of kitchen and bbq cooking) every night except one, and found the villa to be perfectly suited for this too.

And finally, I think it’s worth mentioning that you really do feel that if there was any constructive criticism of the villa the owners would take it on board and do everything they could to deal with it. Unfortunately I’ve never been able to come up with anything in this regard!

Owner's Response: So glad you had a good relaxing holiday at Casa das Flores; we aim to please and make your stay a holiday from the word go. You are right though, we can't guarantee the weather but it's invariably better there than in England.

Even better than I expected!!

What an AMAZING villa!!

So much bigger in real life than the photos show and plenty of living space, even if the weather isn't too good.

The kitchen is actually better than the new one we've just had at home and everything you could possibly need is in there.

We loved taking advantage of the brill BBQ areas and of course the heated pool! An added bonus is the provision of towels - saves so much space in your suitcase!

We will definately be returning and telling all our friends and family what a find this place is!

Fantastic villa

Having just spent a week at Casa das Flores I can’t recommend it highly enough. The villa is very comfortable and spacious and comes with a very well equipped kitchen. Much appreciated were the little touches such as board games, books, bottles of wine and the welcome pack. The poolside terrace is a real sun trap and the pool itself is lovely after a few hours of intensive tanning! The villa is only a few minutes drive (or not too far a walk for those feeling energetic) from numerous restaurants and Carvoeiro itself. A great local restaurant is Chicken George while O Barabas is fantastic, as long as you are prepared to travel slightly further afield.

Thanks very much to Jane and Gareth for making our stay so comfortable and relaxing and I hope to be spending some more time at Casa das Flores in the near future!

Owner's Response: We are delighted you enjoyed your week at Casa das Flores. We too always make a point of going to Chicken George and O Barradas (the latter being very much a treat on our last day). As you say, there are at least five restaurants within walking distance but bbq-ing on the terrace is always a good option.

Fabulous Villa

A fabulous villa with excellent facilities. Villa was clean and tidy and extremely well equipped, we especially liked the American fridge/freezer and use of beach towels, which meant less to pack! The welcome pack was very generous and enjoyed by all. The pool temperature was just right - not too hot, not too cold. We had a fabulous 2 week stay at Casa Das Flores. Restaurants we would recommend would be Julios (within walking distance), Via Italia in central Carveiro and O'Salmao in Monte Carveiro. Would highly recommend this villa.

A Beautiful stay in the Algarve!

Upon arrival I was struck by how well the grounds were kept, with wonderful gardens and clear attention to detail which set the precedent throughout my stay at the villa.

As the desciption states, thie accomodation was luxury and even more spacious than I had expected. Its was ridiculously well equipt for any need we had (playing cards, books, wine and other esseitnals on arrival). Though like any good summer holiday, most of our time was spent outside, enjoying the warm pool and summer meals outside.

All the small details have been though of for you and with the addition of a dishwasher and maid service - its difficult to imagine how you could fail to have an high enjoyable relaxing time.

Finally, being the sort of person who is fascinated by clever innovations - I was really impressed by the BBQ utensil which was a single piece of equipment which consisted of a knife, spatula, fork and (importantly ;-) ) beer bottle opener - I want one.

I can't recomend this villa enough.

Great family villa

A great family villa, clean and spacious. Lovely large warm pool, our 18 month old loved it. Great location, walking distance to a few good resturants, recommend Julios resturant a 10 min walk away.
It took about 15 mins to walk to the nearest beach which is blue flagged a lovely beach with a resturant overlooking it. (A little bit on the small side so may become crowded in the peak summer times).
The Villa is furnished to high standards and has everything you need for a lovely relaxing holiday. We look forward to returning soon!

Great fun in the sun!

I went with my family, but don't normally go in for 'sedate' family holidays so I was worried I would get bored sitting by a pool all day. However, if you're keen on sports, there's no shortage of activities to keep you occupied without having to venture far - tennis at the club, a great golf course, brilliant runs along coastal paths, swimming in the secluded coves. I would have loved to have tried horse riding too. There's also the nearby water park (definitely for children of all ages!) but take lots of sun cream. Of course if that all sounds too energetic, there's nothing better than relaxing with a book and a bottle of Super Bock in the evening sun to the smells of a BBQ!

Great accommodation in a great spot

Chrissie B London
Review Submitted: March 13, 2009 Date of Stay: February 2009
With my family I've stayed in many villas across Europe, and found this one to surpass expectation. Not only is the accommodation at least as good as described, I'd say it is understated by the owners. The number of people that can be accommodated is as described, which makes a pleasant change from many claimed capacities!
The entire villa was spotless, well maintained and kitted out to a standard I've not encountered.
All the thought is there to ensure you don't need to worry about what to bring or buy; including a handsome welcome pack.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the villa, its great pool, and all the restaurants, beaches and other facilities nearby.
What a great place.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for such a positive review. It’s very encouraging to know that what we’re doing seems to be pretty much the right sort of thing.

Great family villa

Juliette K Stockport
Review Submitted: March 10, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2008
What a great villa for a family holiday. We stayed with our three children and their grandparents – plenty of room for everyone, a bathroom for everyone and rooms for the children which were lovely and quiet and away from the action (for those necessary siestas). The villa has a great pool and patio area bathed in sunshine all day long and lots of toys and inflatables to enjoy in the pool too.

As a family with young children we found that the villa was so well equipped that it became a game to try and think of something that wasn’t provided – we couldn’t come up with anything! With the villa offering us everything we needed, including beach towels and parasols, our luggage requirements were greatly reduced. The welcome pack is very generous and means you can go straight from the airport to the villa and start your holiday.

The restaurant recommendations were helpful. We found the villa to be well located for the beach in the day but particularly well located for restaurants which we could get to quickly and easily in the evening and who were happy to accommodate children.

Your villa set the tone for a lovely relaxing holiday, thank you – we’ll be back!

Owner's Response: Thanks Juliette. Now there’s a challenge; to come up with something we haven’t provided, that one could reasonably expect to be there!

excellent holiday house

I have had six years of holidaying at Casa das flores and hope to holiday there lots more. The villa is beautiful, well equipped and situated within easy reach of restaurants, cafes, shops etc. The villa also overlooks a 9 hole golf course so no large buildings obscure the lovely views. Portugal I love and cannot think of a nicer place to stay.
