Perfect apartment & customer service!

Jason1 Manchester, UK
Review Submitted: July 8, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Without a doubt this is a lovely apartment in a great location and with a second-to-none level of service provided by owners Danka and Jacky (and daughter Natalia who handles the bookings). Our flight out from the UK was unfortunately subject to a significant delay, yet Jacky was still able to meet us at the apartment in the early hours of the morning to let us in and show us around. The apartment itself was spotless, modern (air conditioning, flatscreen cable TV, Bose sound system, DVD player, laptop & free wi-fi internet access), and a comfortable size for a couple, with additional ample outdoor space in the private garden which has a sheltered dining area, and a further table and chairs with a great view of the harbour and beach. The secure complex has a shared open-air pool which is perfect for an afternoon dip, and there is private parking should you be hiring a car, although we found that the proximity of bus stops & the local railway station made car hire unnecessary - it really is very easy and inexpensive to travel along the coast to visit the likes of Monaco, Nice, Cannes etc. The walk down into Villefranche-sur-Mer itself takes approximately 10 minutes – be warned that the walk back uphill can be a bit testing in hot weather but don’t let this deter you – the beach and harbour are very picturesque, the old town is beautiful, and there is an excellent choice of restaurants catering for all tastes and budgets (our own recommendation would be Trastevere on the harbour-side). No wonder the cruise ships stop here for day trips! The cost of the apartment rental also includes a meal at Jacky and Danka’s restaurant Les Agaves in nearby Beaulieu-sur-Mer (3 mins away by train) – be sure to take advantage of this superb extra – excellent food and service in lovely surroundings. In short, we can’t recommend this apartment and this location highly enough, we had a fabulous week. If arriving at Nice airport, we would suggest arranging airport transfers in advance with Nice Airport Shuttle who provide reliable private chauffer-driven transfers in luxury cars at a price lower than taxi fares (buses have limited luggage space, and the walk from Villefranche train station to the apartment is uphill so can be a bit tricky with luggage). Thank you Danka & Jacky for being such excellent hosts and allowing us to use your lovely apartment for an unforgettable holiday. Jason & Kathryn, Manchester, UK.
Owner's Response: Thank you Jason! It was our pleasure to accomodate you.

Hotel standard with all the touches of home

Review Submitted: October 31, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We are travelling around Europe for sometime and booked a month from the internet site and on arrival, apart from being greeted like members of the family, we were only too happy with the apartment -at least as good as it appears online. Renovated and decorated beautifully with all mod cons and great little features such as paintings, magazines, books, dvd's,phone, computer etc which made it just like arriving home but in a much more magnificent location. It was perfect for us and our 2 small maltese dogs who were welcomed by the doggie loving Danka and Jackie, who also on several occassions went out of their way to drive us somewhere or pick us up...not to mention the included dinners at their fabulous restaurant. All in all they raised the bar for our European accomodation and hospitality. If only all apartment owners were of the same making and professionalism.

My wife and I had a magical week staying at this charming and well-appointed Studio Apartment. The accommodations and service from Danka and Jacky exceeded all of our expectations. Danka felt more like a loving member of our family than our host. She is amazing. If you are fortunate enough to stay here, we highly recommend having dinner at Danka and Jacky's restaurant, Les Agaves, in the adjacent town of Beaulieu. The food amazing and so is the service. We still have haunting memories of Jacky's "mushroom ravioli".

We especially appreciated the central location the apartment provided. Five minutes to Nice, ten minutes to Monaco, a short walk to the beaches of Villefranche Sur Mer and Cap Farrat. Although you can probably get by without one, we do recommend renting a car. Our little Ford Ka gave us the freedom to really extend our geography and explore this beautiful area of France. We went to the villages of, Eze (highly recommended), Vence, Menton, Nice, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, and even drove into Italy (no passport check point - amazing -only twenty minutes away) for a day at the open market.

We want to express our sincere gratitude to both Danka and Jacky for a beautiful and memorable stay. We want anyone who reads this review to know that you can stay at this beautiful studio apartment without any concerns. If you are able to book a week or two here, you will not be disappointed.

The only concern worth noting is that the area is made up of steep hills. If you have a hard time climbing up hills on foot, or if a car is not available to you, you should consider staying in an area that is more suited to your physical abilities. However, if you want a clean, simple, and well appointed apartment with great services, Danka and Jacky's studio apartment is the place to stay.

We give Danka and Jacky's studio apartment FIVE STARS! Danka gets SIX STARS!

Wonderful week in a beautiful place

After a week on a canal boat on Canal du Midi, this little apartment was heaven! Exceptionally well appointed, compact but well designed with the added bonus of a gaden, outdoor living room and amazing views. Oh and must mention the fabulous sparkling clean pool - very quiet almost had it to ourselves everyday. Although it's bit of a hike uphill from the village we explored different routes and felt very much at "home" just when it was time to leave. Well located for easy access to Monaco, Cap de Ferat and Beaulieu - can walk there round the beach and past the fabulous villas.

Great and easy communication with owners - absolutely hassle-free - even met on arrival. Will definitely return to this stunning place.

Would love to make it our annual excursion from NZ and have already recommended it to friends.

Lovely view of the bay

Danka and Jacky were great! A lot of times the quality of your stay comes down to how nice the renters are, and they are fabulous! The room is just as it appears on the web. The apartment is located directly above a bus stop that runs frequently, and they have schedules in the room. Lots of helpful information and guidebooks are in the desk, and the washer and dryer are great for getting in some quick vacation laundry. There are tons of grocery bags in the little storage room, so don't forget some before your trip to the grocery store (Maetterlink stop towards Nice). Two bus stops down (towards Nice) at Octroi, you can run your little daily errands or shop at Picard, the frozen food only grocery store (check the package to see if it's "micronde"). The free dinner at Les Agaves was one of the best dinners we had the whole time we were there, so don't think it's just a gimmick. We stayed here for a month, and rented a car for the last week. You can definitely get by without a car, but if you can, rent one. It's WAY better. But that may just be my "American-ness" talking. Villefranche is hilly, so if you have joint or muscle problems, it may not be for you. I would not recommend this apartment for any more than two people. We planned on bringing our dog and they were great about it. We didn't bring him, so I can't speak to how it would be with a dog, only that they are welcoming to them (assuming they are well-behaved). I would definitely recommend this to a friend. The only negative is that the bed is a little hard. We took the extra blankets and made our own little mattress cover and it fixed it just fine, but we like very soft beds, so it could just be personal preference. We stayed here while attending the french immersion program at Institut de Francais, so we didn't do very much sightseeing at all...we were studying. We've seen the area before though, and I can tell you that it's great and this apartment would be a great home-base. A wonderful experience!

The Best possible choice for a romantic couple!

It is hard to know where to begin! The location is perfect , 20 minutes to Nice or Monaco, 5 minutes to La Turbie,15 to Eze, 1 hour to Menton, all splendid places to explore! Villefranche is quaint, picturesque and practically on top of Cap Ferrat and Beaulieu sur mer, great shopping, restaurants and beaches surround the lovely suite, which itself is well located to all, but without the noise and crowds one expects to find in France in August. The photos are incredibly acurate, the suite is clean and private, the bed is comfortable, the terrace is spectacular although narrow, but this adds to the charm! The interior is very well equipted for cooking if you wish, and you have seating inside and out for meals or a lovely nightcap overlooking the bay to Cap Ferrat. The on site pool is clean and large, and just across the street is a stone staircase leading to the beach and the train stop for Menton or Cannes.Don't think the inclusion of a meal at Les Agaves is just a gimmicky add on!! Our evening was splendid! Danke and Jacky were delightful and it is a well rated establishment.Thankfully we booked early on in our stay and actually chose to go back to Les Agaves on our own to enjoy another perfect meal in their beautiful cosy restaurant as we found the delights from the kitchen stood up to any of the very expensive Micheline rated places we had also dined in during our stay. Overall, we felt we had excellent value in a supreme location with owners who were committed to tending to our every need, ensuring we thoroughly enjoyed our use of their charming suite, we indeed felt like it was our own! We do not hesitate in sending any of our friends to this lovely property...as long as room service is not a must! We much prefer the use of a kitchen on our own!

We were extremely satisfied with this apartment. Everything was just as described; clean, well appointed, a fabulous view and in a superb location. Jacky and Danka have covered all the bases in providing a wonderful "home away from home" for their guests staying in this beautiful part of France. A memorable bonus was the wonderful evening spent at their restaurant in Beaulieu.
Highly recommended, would return without hesitation.
One word of caution; although close to the town, beach and railway station, some people could find the uphill, return walk to the apartment a bit of a challenge.
Owner's Response: Our guests are like a friends to us! To know they had a lovely
holiday and tell us about it, make everything special.
So, thank you.

A Great Holiday

A wonderful apartment in the heart of Villefranche. Amazing views over the bay. The apartment is exceptionally well equipped with everything one could need included. The owners really have gone the extra mile to make a stay here a comfotable and relaxing holiday, including small touches such as stocking the fridge with fresh jams, bread and coffees for ones arrival. Even though we were delayed and arrived after midnight Jackie made us feel very welcome, and dinner at his restaurant was great! Thank you again for an amazing holiday! Matt and Mich

Set in an excellent location with wonderful views over the bay of Villefranche this property provides everything you could want for a comfortable and relaxing stay.
Equipped to a very high standard, we could not think of anything that had been omitted. From internet access to bathrobes, information on the local area plus books to read when you are not exploring the riviera.
The owner, Jacky, greeted us on arrival and we had a wonderful meal at his restaurant in Beaulieu. Nothing was too much trouble. Many thanks Jacky.
We would have no hesitation in recommending this property and hope we will return one day soon.
