Our stay at the Casa

The property was exactly as advertised. It was very clean, well maintained and tastefully decorated. It contained all the facilities and amenities that we needed for our stay. It is a lovely view of the region from the top of the mountain. It is particularly accessible to such places as Pisa, Florence and Lucca. Allow 15 minutes for driving up and down the mountain. Good access to local restaurants and there is a supermarket to buy provisions in the town of Massarosa below. The owner Elisa was very kind and friendly to our family.

we have had a very enjoyable two weeks. the weather has been hot and sunny. The views are spectacular and on a clear day we just about made out the tower of Pisa. The facilities are very clear and the pool well maintained. We made trips to Pisa/Florence not so far. We also drive un into the mountains (Seravezza-Arni-S.Anna di Stazzema) The evenings sat out on the terrace are heartfully cool but there was mosquitoes. But the stay has been very enjoeble. We thank you for our lovely two weeks stay and hope to retun one day.

We stayed in Bellavista for a week in July 08 and I would thoroughly recommend it as a place to relax, unwind and enjoy the spectacular location while the kids swim in the pool or play table tennis. Our kids are 10 and 13 and it was perfect for them - they loved it.

The accommodation was just as it was described on the website and we were very happy with all the facilities and furnishings - we couldn't have asked for more. The owner, whose English is fantastic, also lives in the grounds but you never see her unless you want to - you have total privacy but it is very nice to know she is there if you need her. She is extremely pleasant and helpful.

The house is fairly high up the mountain and I must admit our first journey up there was pretty scary as the roads are so narrow and the drivers are mad! But the higher you go up the mountain the fewer cars you meet and we never had a problem. Don't take a big car up there though - we hired a Ford Focus and I wouldn't have liked to drive anything much bigger up those roads! The more we drove up and down the mountain the more we got used to it.

The house is very "away from it all" but that is what we wanted and we knew that when we booked it. The views are absolutely stunning, the pool was perfect for our kids and they loved the table tennis! Massarosa is your nearest town and you can see it directly below you at the foot of the mountain but it is about a 4km drive down the twisty mountain road. It has a few shops, restaurants and a couple of nice coffee shops but theres not that much to it really. It does have an excellent supermarket and we were very happy to stock up there and cook/bbq at the house most evenings, sit out on the terrace with a bottle of wine, take in the views and listen to the music drifting up the mountain from the town below! We had already done lots of sightseeing in Pisa, Lucca and Florence before we went to Bellavista so we were happy just to chill out during our week there but we did go into Viareggio one day and it is a big, bustling, touristy seaside resort so if you want that kind of holiday it is there for you too.

In summary, I wouldn't particularly recommend Bellavista to you if you want a lively, touristy, partying time. If however you want a relaxing break where you can experience "real Italy" in absolutely beautiful surroundings then this is the place to go! We loved it and I would highly recommend it!
Owner's Response: I think that whenever you meet new people you have a good opportunity to improve yourself. So when my family and I have some new guests at the villa we consider it an occasion to become better and better in our hospitality. Thank you so much for you review.

We stayed at Case di Inta (2 adults three children - all under 10) in May 2007 and really enjoyed it. The villa has the most fantastic views and is exactly as described and picutred. We were a little apprehensive about staying in a place where the owners lived next door as we like our privacy. BUT the owners were always there if we needed them but we never felt they were watching over us - so no worries on that score. They were so kind though when we arrived after a long hot journey, they cooked us all a wonderufl pasta dish - very welcome.
The villa is well equipped - very authentically Italian and the outdoor space was more than adequate. I wouldn't really recommend it to people with toddlers as there are a few steep steps but for children over 4 it's fine. We would definitly go again.
The only down side we did have was that as it is so high up you do have to drive along quite winding mountain roads to get there so it isn't really a place you can pop in and out of - we tended to just go out once a day as it takes a tedious 20 mins to get down to the main road. But for peace, views, tranquility and real Italy - it can't be beaten.
The local town of Massarosa has everything you need: supermarkets etc and the beach at Viareggio is half an hour away. Luca is truly fantastic too - a beautiful city. Don't forget to hire bikes and cycle round the city walls!

We had a wonderful holiday at this property and have recommended this to friends. Unfortunatly we could not get the dates we required for this year or we would have come back again. The restaurants we visited in and around the hills we still talk about to this day. Also sitting out on the magnificent terrace at night and listening to the sounds below, will be a memory that I will hold with me for a long time. Everything was wonderful. Thank you so much for the use of your wonderful house.
Owner's Response: I am unable to make any comment, as your review is such a complete one and exceeds all our targets of having guests who just enjoy their stay and come back home with a good experience in their memories. The way you describe the house and its surroundings... and the lovely words! My family and I are really glad you enyoied your stay and also a little bit proud!
