Sans-Souci December 08
Review Submitted: December 13, 2008
Date of Stay: November 2008
We have just had a pleasant stay at the villa. It is very spacious, garden/pool areas are lovely and has a great view over the 12th hole. Close to shops, the gorgeous Pigeon Point, lots of eating places, but a car is essential.
In most instances the description provided is correct, although the hotel is not the Hilton now and it is closed for a lengthy refurbishment, so don't go there expecting to use the hotel's facilities as we were. The BBQ was broken by previous occupants and had not been replaced and 2 of the air-con units were not working. Although the maid comes in to clean (not daily) kitchen/bathrooms and change beds, I felt that the villa needed a team of cleaners to bring it up to the cleanliness standards | would expect. It was really very grubby in places and was never dusted or polished during our stay. I also think it is need of a paint job inside and bathroom/kitchen refurbishment. We found the lounge furniture very uncomfortable and the beds are rock-hard.
Building work being done next door.
I would disagree that it is suitable for the infirm. Yes, it's all on one floor, but the bathrooms would be completely unsuitable for those with mobility problems.
A welcome pack should be provided. I don't think you should be expected to do basic shopping after a long haul flight when you arrive at night in an unfamiliar place.
My husband is a golfer. In his opinion the condition of the course has gone downhill over the last six years, but still provides millionaire's golf which he considered good value for money at £35 per round including a cart. This cost is cheaper than in 2002. In my opinion and experience this is not a 'luxury' villa, but would not take much to make it so.
