A tranquil haven away from it all

Hoberie Aberdeenshire
Review Submitted: October 22, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
A lovely apartment - very cosy which was welcome as it was fairly cold, wet and windy during our stay. Apartment would benefit from having a torch! We arrived very late at night and couldn't find the switch in the fuse box nor the tap to turn on the water in the dark! Apartment is clean and well equipped with amazing views over the sea. The apartment is a reasonable walk from the centre of Collioure and there were no taxis at the train station when we arrived. Taxis are few and far between, but Laurent in Cafe Sola managed to call one for us. If you choose to stay at this apartment you need to enjoy walking (which we do) although there are regular buses costing only one euro which travel from Perpignon to Cerberre with drop off points at all the little ports and villages along the way.Collioure and Port Vendres are perfect places to wander around and explore, stopping for a coffee or a verre du vin! Port Vendres is just as close to walk to as Collioure. There's a Lidl on the outskirts of Port Vendres which is handy for provisions. A market also takes place in Collioure on Wednesdays and Sundays and it's the perfect place for buying spices, oils, cheeses and saucisson. There are many wonderful restaurants and bars with friendly and helpful staff. Our favourite restaurant was Dali with La Clocher as one of the best tapas bars. There's also a great pizza restaurant just along from cafe sola which serves an amazing curry pizza! The little train is a must. The tourist information office also provides hints and tips on things to do and helps out with bookings for travel - along with the local town hall - all very French - we were sent to the mairie to book a bus for our return trip to the airport. Everyone was really helpful. A perfect place to sit and watch the world go by.
ps Also really easy to contact the owner of this property who e mailed us several times in advance of our trip with advice and information.

We stayed for a week in September, the house was clean, peaceful and had gorgeous views from the lounge and in particular the bedroom. Electronic shutters when opened in the morning brought a smile to your face as you looked over to the sea. Nice walk into Collioure where restaurants and shops are in abundance. Car not really needed as train station in the town but handy for the shopping. Best beach at Argeles, most restaurants good and fairly consistant price wise averaging 15 to 20 euros a head with a caraffe of wine. Cooking in the house adequate for pasta's and salads. There were a couple of beach chairs and ice block in freezer. Would return if back in the area.

Sunshine and warm seas

Nottm Stu Nottingham
Review Submitted: September 7, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
As this was our first trip to the South of France with two relatively young boys (6 and 4), we were looking for good weather, the seaside and a clean pleasant property. This property, and location, delivered everything we could have wanted.
Blessed with sunshine every day and temperatures of 30deg c, we were able to walk down to the beach in the morning, with the occasional stop to look in the rock pools. After a swim in the sea, it was off to the local shops for a picnic lunch, followed by a walk back to the apartment for a siesta.
The afternoon typically involved a trip to the pool which, although reasonably busy, was never over crowded and always clean and pleasant.
The property itself delivered to our expectations. It was clean, tidy and relatively user friendly. In an ideal world, it would have air conditioning, but ,through use of the fans provided, we managed the nighttime temperature. I would rather have this than the cold and wet of the UK.
The owner's representative in France was on call to provide additional bed linen as required.
Overall, the right property in the right location to allow us to have a relaxing holiday, which is all you can ask with two small children.
Would definetly use again.

A great week in a great place

eurostar Trowbridge, Wiltshire, England
Review Submitted: August 3, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
Had a great week in a wonderful place. Travelled to Collioure by train and able to walk with luggage to acommodation. the sea views are wonderful and although it was hot there was usually a cooling breeze to make it comfortable. Had a teenage son with us who used the pool three times a day (plus sea swimming) and while occasionally busy was often empty.

House was well fitted out and comfortable had all we needed and a great position. Didn't have to think about car parking but in July Collioure is pretty busy and day trippers were coming out as far as this apprtment to find spaces. Town beautiful and numbers of visitors not a problem as all felt very relaxed and good natured.

Will come again!

Appartment was beautifully decorated and furnished, very confortable but crying out for air conditioning of some kind, even a portable unit would surfice. We were blessed with 35deg.c and fans did not have much effect at night. Views were wonderful. Collioure was wonderful as ever. The swimming pool was very dissappointing, not cleaned, toilets and showers were locked, footbath empty, very neglected for July, should probably be taken up with property management company, it let the appartment down.We would use appartment again, probably out of season. Parking abit tricky at times. A beautiful appartment tastfully furnished let down by swimming pool.

Our Med Holiday.

Review Submitted: June 25, 2009 Date of Stay: April 2009
A very pleasant apartment nicely situated so that you have a scenic walk into artistic Collioure or in the other direction to the touristy Port Vendre with its yachts and superb fish market at the end of the quay. Walking this way you pass Lidl supermarket.
On arrival we found the apartment very clean, comfortable and well maintained, with excellent views of the sea from both balconies.
We recommend:-
The Petit Train in Collioure.
A boat trip from Port Vendre
The newly opened old dynamite site at Paulilles on the way
to the Maillol Museum and the Cellier de Templiers at Banyuls.
We found that we were able to park right outside the apartment throughout our week in April, but a car is not essential and it is very pleasant to walk to the restaurants in Collioure or Port Vendre and not have to decide who is
driving after sampling the local wine!
We had a very enjoyable holiday, can recommend it,in fact
we can't wait to return.

Lovely sea views

Baxy Eastbourne
Review Submitted: June 3, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We stayed here for 5 days at the end of May. Nice house, good location, with 2 lovely big balconies with great views but a little bit further out of town than we expected.
The pool wasn't open, but when we finnaly found it, it looked OK.
Because there was just myself and my partner, the double bed had been made up with one pillow each and no other lined provided. We borrrowed a pillow each off of the two small twin beds, and had to buy pillows cases for them ourselves.
There is also no proper oven, only a microwave/convection oven which was OK with us, but may have been restrictive for a family.
Overall, a good choice. We would stay there again and we would recommend it.
Owner's Response: This is helpful. We routinely only leave a single pillow each but if requested in advance can provide two.
The pool does not open until June, as is clearly stated in our pre booking information. As stated in this review, our kitchen is small and apart from two ring elements has only got a microwave/grill/oven. Those who wish to do most of their own cooking instead of sampling the local restaurants may find this restrictive

September in Collioure

N.E.B. Ottawa, Canada
Review Submitted: October 22, 2008 Date of Stay: September 2008
We found the house well-equipped and comfortable - we did cook for four people several evenings. The residential area was very quiet the last week of September. The views were as promised and the walk into Collioure was pleasant, day and evening.
Colliioure is a charming town. We especially enjoyed the market, two days per week, Sunday and ?. We got a good tour of the hills around Collioure and Port Vendres on the Petit Train.
A parking space was available just outside the unit but it was a challenge to get into the first time. We left the car parked and walked everywhere for a couple of days.
As Canadians getting ready for winter, we loved the sunshine!

Happy Memories

We had a lovely holiday. The house was done up simply but with great taste and we had everything that we needed. Central Colliour is a very pleasurable 10 min walk away along the sea front with the boats bobbing in the harbour. Loads of restaurants to chose from - wish I was there now !
