Casa Branca, Altura - the perfect getaway!

Limk Limerick, Ireland
Review Submitted: April 2, 2009 Date of Stay: March 2009
Just arrived home from this little piece of Heaven and wishing we were still there! Casa Branca does everything it says on the tin. The most fabulous villa which catered for all our needs and some. For cleanliness and relaxation we couldn't have found better. My husband and I went with another couple and were all awestruck with this home from home, the personal touches with furnishings etc made us want to live there forever! Altura has everything anyone on holiday could possibly want, lovely restaurants, relaxing bars, a beautiful beach that goes on forever with wonderful fluffy white sand. A must do is a walk along the beach to Mante Rota and especially to the "Mar's Bar" there where the food is out of this world. We also hired a car and driving is no problem with the neighbouring villages/towns also beautiful. We had the most relaxing holiday and even stayed in a couple of nights to enjoy the peaceful villa with its sky tv, or lounged around by the pool for the evening listening to music - of which the owners also have great taste! The supermarket, a stones throw away, kept us fed for breakfast and the odd evening we didn't go out to eat as the kitchen facilities are first class. Casa Branca is so beautiful we were very slow to leave it, a few takeway beers, wine and food with the relaxing setting of the pool (which lit up in the evenings is terrific) and we were quite comfortable! The Sports Bar was our favourite for evening time as the staff were really friendly and didn't seem to mind how long we kept them there, it's great for snacks also. Any of the bars in Altura would take your fancy, we just happened to get settled in this one. We arrived late in the evening and still managed to get food here that more than satisfied us. Has to be mentioned that 90 cent for a glass of beer isn't half bad either!! The villa caters for all type of holidaymaker and Altura is so laid back and beautiful that you may not even want to travel further but car hire is great if you do as the driving and directions are so easy. We would highly recommend this villa and Altura and will definitely be back for a longer visit. Thanks to the owners and agent for all their helpfulness, it was a completely stress free holiday, short flight from Ireland, car hire arranged so we were at the villa in 40 minutes, what more could we ask for. See you again before the year is out hopefully x
Owner's Response: Wow! What a great review. Delighted to hear you had such a good time and you are definitely welcome back!

I recently stayed here in "casa fantastica" with my partner for 5 days & we were blown away by this amazing villa. It has absolutely everything you could possibly need or want to enjoy a fabulous holiday break & was so clean with beautiful decor. I would highly recommend this villa & location for all looking for a relaxing holiday & is especially fantastic for kids as the villa & its pool will provide hours of entertainment for both old and young. I would suggest hiring a car & travelling around to see the surrounding towns & in particular I fell in love with Monte Gordo which is only ten mins away & has everything you could ask for, restaurants, shops & of cousre, my favourite, candy floss! To eat & drink here was especially cheap & very tasty with late serving hours. Thanks to Rachel for her helpful tips upon our arrival on things to do & places to see during our stay. Joy and Damien (Limerick, Ireland)

Great Villa, beautiful Altura

This villa was a great find for us. We have been going to the Eastern Algarve region for almost twenty years and generally stayed in towns like Tavira and Monte Gordo. Altura is adjacent to those towns but much nicer, as it is less commercial but still contains great restaurants and an amazing beach. We brought the kids and they loved it - never out of the pool, when we aerent down the road at the beach, and we had loads of room. The house is beautifully furnished and came equipped with everything you could want for a short stay. I would highly recommend it. And Altura.

I had promised my two daughters and young granddaughter (16 months) a week away in the sun and we all spent a glorious week at the villa. My youngest daughter had just finished University and she and my elder daughter spent most days sunbathing and swimming while we entertained the baby. The description of the villa does not do it enough justice, it was all so neat and clean. The bedrooms were all of a good size, (we also had a cot in one) 2 bedrooms have en-suite bathrooms and the main has a lovely terrace that is in the sun all day. The pool was superb and in the evening with the pool lit up, beer in one hand and digging in to a B-B-Q with the other, we didn't want to come home. I used to take my granddaughter out in her pushchair every morning to get a paper and visit the fresh food market that sold veg, fruit, meat and fish for the B-B-Q that evening. There were also a few supermarkets all within a 5 min walk. The beach and restaurants were all within easy walking distance with a variety of restaurants to suit everyone. My granddaughter loved going on the kiddies rides near the beach. We hired a car as the Spanish border was very close and we visited a few beaches there and we also drove to Seville for a day trip. This was a holiday and venue for just 'chilling out', we will return!

A stunning villa and wonderful holiday experience

We stayed in Altura in the autumn and enjoyed it immensly. The beach is absolutely glorious and yet never seems over-packed. Perhaps that is because it goes on for miles. The village in incredibly relaxed, with an excellent range of restaurants and bars to choose from. But the really pleasant element of the holiday was finding this gem of a villa. Placed in the heart of Altura and only a few minutes walk from the beach, it was both spotlessly clean and tremendously relaxing. Although there were only four of us staying, we could easily and confortably have brought up to 8 people. The pool and lounge area really make for a splendid immediate environment in which to relax if you dont want to stroll to the beach, or to hold a barbecue in the evening. We played golf three times at one of the local courses. And then there is Joao's little classic Portugeuse Bar a few minutes up the road....all in all the perfect place to get away on the Algarve. We shall be back in 2009, recession or no recession!
Owner's Response: Thank you very much Jack for taking the time to write a review. It is really appreciated and we are so glad you loved our Villa and Altura. So do we and it is always great when we hear that other people do too!!
