Relaxing Villa Holiday

johnandjo Taunton
Review Submitted: June 6, 2009 Date of Stay: May 2009
We thoroughly enjoyed our weeks stay in our own villa with private pool. We would highly recommend this spacious property to anyone who wants to have a relaxing holiday whilst having the opportunity to explore the local area by car. This is a beautiful property with a large pool set in a very well maintained garden.

Our stay in Algarve

Ian, Jo and Ben Weymouth-UK
Review Submitted: October 31, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
We stayed in the Horta da Avozinha during our half term break End of October 09-01 Nov and we were greeted by the wonderful hosts and owners Jose and Teresa on our arrival.
We found the whole experience fantastic from the Villa and it's grounds to the area, the weather and of course Jose and Teresa who made us all feel so welcome and made sure everything was just as we would have liked it to be.
Although you needed a car, everything was in very easy reach from the restaurants in Lux (5 mins drive) to the larger shopping places like Lagos (Approx 35 mins away).
Our 7 year old loved the pool, unable to prise him away anytime day or night, first thing on his mind on waking and the last thing on his mind before bed!!
The villa and grounds itself were immaculate, from the pristine swimming pool to the oranges, advocado, grapefruit trees that lined the gardens where chickens andd Geese welcomed you whilst picking fresh oranges for your breakfast.
The weather was superb compared to the UK, hovering around the 23-26 degree mark with a mixture of cloud cover and clear blue skies, just right for an Autumn break away from the rain and overcast weather back in England!
We hope to spread the word about this little gem on our return to the UK and hope to tempt the In-Laws with a visit in the near future............A wonderful experience had by myself, Jo (Wife) and son Ben...Thankyou for making our stay so wonderful Jose and Teresa.

Stay in Oct 09

Review Submitted: October 17, 2009 Date of Stay: October 2009
The Villa is well presented, being clean throughout and well equipped. Whilst initially the location felt quite remote, quickly you realise how accessible the towns of Luz and Lagos are, both having everything you need from supermarkets to restaurants. In addition to being really easy to reach from Faro, the choice of beaches is huge, offering child friendly beaches as well plenty of options for the more adventurous, particularly fans of surfing.
The pool at the villa is just the right size for children and adults to enjoy, giving both the chance to cool down and have a swim. With everything being behind a closed gate, and plenty of space for the kids to run wild, it made for as relaxing a time as you can have with toddlers in tow!
Jose and Theresa were the perfect hosts, being available to offer help and advice when required, but otherwise you didn´t notice they were around. A mid-week visit from the maid was an added bonus, ensuring the place was spotless, at least until we returned home!
A thoroughly relaxing and enjoyable autumn break for myself and my family, just what we had hoped for.

Excellent throughout, Jose and Teresa were very helpful and obliging. Property is well apointed having everything we needed and more. It is clean and well maintained in a peaceful tranquil setting suitable for couples and families. Would highly recommend Horta da Avozinha and we will be returning soon. We liked the Beach Bar at Burgau (especially the hot chocolate), Casa Grande also in Burgau. There are many other good restaurants in Luz catering for all tastes. A trip to Praia da Casteljo near Vila da Bispo is also a must.

A lovely peaceful place

GT1 East Hagbourne, Oxon
Review Submitted: September 12, 2009 Date of Stay: September 2009
We stayed in Villa Avozinha for a week in early September 2009 and had a warm welcome from Jose, the owner. It is a lovely house, very peaceful and the rooms are cool in the evenings which makes t easy to sleep at night. The house is very well equipped.

Having an orchard next to the villa is unique and we enjoyed picking figs and pears for our breakfast. Unfortunately the oranges, grapefruits and avocdos were not quite ready.

The pool is a good size and a dip was welcome after a day out exploring the countryside. The water does not need heating at this time of year.

A car is essential to explore the area, but a week isn´t long enough, we´ll have to come back to explore some more. Cabo de St Vincent is well worth a visit, we were lucky that it wasn´t too windy on the day we went. There are plenty of fantastic beaches in the area which are well worth a visit.

Everything around the two houses are kept spotless and very tidy, a lot of care and attention is obviously taken.

We enjoyed our week very much.

Fabulous villa in Algarve

montserrat Wales, UK
Review Submitted: August 29, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
Easy journey from Faro. Lovely welcome from the villa owners who have their own apartment on the site which is great as they have useful information about local places (beaches, restaurants etc) and also any small problems are sorted out straightaway. Villa itself - very clean, beautifully appointed and one of the best we have ever stayed in. Pool really lovely. Pool towels also provided - a big plus. Clean towels and villa cleaning twice per week and sheets once per week. Two big bedrooms and two large bathrooms. Fans provided which make sleeping in the heat (we stayed in August) easier till you get acclimatised. Garden is simply gorgeous - all day gardening each Saturday helps to make it so but if you don´t want to be disturbed then make plans to go out! Second villa on the plot is hardly visible and cannot be heard - good landscaping and design. Villa is accessed through electronic gates - feels very safe. Places to visit: Zoomarine was wonderful (expensive) but our 14 and 15-yr old girls loved the interaction session with dolphins (extra cost over the entrance price); Monchique; Sagres, Atlantic coast. Car essential - nearest supermarket etc about 5 minutes drive away. Limited opportunity for walking out to bars \ restaurants. A fabulous holiday - we will be back. Highly recommended.

Our perfect family villa holiday - August 2009

Lube Dorset, England
Review Submitted: August 15, 2009 Date of Stay: August 2009
We wanted a quiet time with our family away from the noise and bustle of more touristy areas, allied to as much sunshine as possible. We got both in abundance! From the welcome and handover from the caring owners through to our last moments, we would recommend this property without hesitation to everybody.
The travel agent´s description was completely accurate even down to the finest detail. An immaculately maintained villa and pool accompanied by the pickings from their own citrus fruits (and interest from the family chickens, geese and peacock!) made us feel welcome and at home immediately.
The owners were so welcoming and friendly and provided us with all the information and more that we would need. The things that particularly made this a special holiday to remember were the beautiful surroundings, wall-to-wall sunshine and a chance to be somewhere safe, secluded and restful - with such caring and considerate owners on hand should we need anything, be it advice as to location of supermarkets through to interesting places to visit.
Although we chose to remain within the locality (taking in local towns and villages) access to the rest of the Algarve and indeed the remainder of Portugal would be easy from here.
The area is very safe for children and we particularly loved the friendly atmosphere of the local towns, such as Lagos, late at night. The perfect day following a day´s sun, swimming and opportunity to eat 'al fresco' is to spend a couple of hours wandering along the marina side and quaint shopping streets of nearby Lagos. Then to return to this villa and enjoy a late night drink watching a clear night sky or the scurryings of geckos up and down the exterior walls of the sun-warmed villa.
All in all this was a holiday villa to remember, to recommend and without doubt to return to. We all loved every minute! Thank you Teresa and Jose!!

A wonderful relaxing holiday in Portugal

Jo and Marney Sanderstead Surrey
Review Submitted: July 25, 2009 Date of Stay: July 2009
This was our first holiday in Portugal and the villa and the hospitality from the owners Theresa and Jose was wonderful .
The journey from Faro is straight foward and takes little over an hour. The villa is situated in a little hamlet outside Luz and it felt as if we had all the peace of the countryside but with the convenience of restaurants and beach life less then five minutes drive away .
As I have already mentioned the villa was superb . It was immaculate and the maintenence from the maids ,gardener etc was excellent throughout our stay .
We werea little lazy during our holiday and did not take in the waterslides etc but enjoyed wandering around Lagos - the fish market on the waterfront is well worth a visit .
The beaches are<so numerous but we<favoured Burgau and love the small beach and little streets and steep hills . There is plenty of parking but if like us you have a beat up peugot 107 fom the hire car company it could not sadly cope with the hill up from the beach so park before the slope !!
The Bar on the beach at Burgau does nice lunches but you will need to reserve a place .
The shopping is easy both in Luz at the Baptista supermarket or at the intermarche in Lagos even if it is overflowing with English people .
The main attraction of our stay here was Horta Avorzinha itself. We loved the setting and my seven year old enjoyed going to pick oranges from the garden for breakfast and herding the wayward baby chicks who had escaped from their pen . I loved this holiday but would not recommend it for families with children that wish to be within striking distance of the action but if you like relaxed peace and quiet in exquisite surroundings, which is also very safe for young children this is the place for you . I will certainly be back

Stay at Horta de Avozinha

little c Somerset, UK
Review Submitted: July 11, 2009 Date of Stay: June 2009
Descrption of property and facilities accurate, set in quiet pleasant rural surroundings away from the hustle & bustle of tourism but only a short drive from Espiche and Luz (only 5 mins by car to Luz sea front and 10 mins from Lagos town).
Hosts Teresa & Jose very helpful and inviting without being intrusive. Nothing is too much trouble.
The property is clean and well maintained with fabulous pool and orange & lemon tree orchard beyond (perfect for the breakfasts and G&T´s afterwards!)
Local & further afield attractions ... good restaurants can easily be found in Espiche, Luz, Bergau, Lagos and beyond all serving fresh local produce to ahigh standard.
Lovely clean beaches (blue flag status) close to hand also very worth while visiting the West Atlantic coastline for the mostly unspoilt environs ... excellent for the sunbathing and coastal walking
If it gets too hot then a trip (or two) to the Monchique Hills and the local villages is a must
For those with children there are water parks approx 30 mins drive away, plus the golf courses for those who still play.

This has been a fantastic holiday in a great and very hospitable villa. The place was great for the four of us and the children loved the pool. We will return in the near future as we all love the place and location, especially for the surrounding surf beaches and snorkelling coves!!!
